I happen to think the standard VR brakes are ok, but my last car was a MK1  I got my 312mm calipers a couple of weeks ago from a breakers (steal), need a good clean and a fresh coat of paint though. Plus I need to get some 16" wheels now, shame as I like the standard look with the solitudes on, rides nice too.

I have gone for an ebay one, off a chap who seems to sell loads of them, who has 100% positive feedback, I'm mainly getting it for R&D purposes though as i hope to develop my own one which is the nuts, ie double relayed, fuse protected and 100% weather proofed.

which evo is this in? I have the £10k heroes one (101) and cant seem to see the letter. Just to add it was the first evo I bought, and what a truly great motoring mag, think I'll be staring up a subscription. I love the Veyron, if I had a big enough lottery win I'd get my hands on one some how, totally awesome.

Thinking of buying a mk1 Golf cab - advice please
ziderapple replied to Phil K's topic in General Car Chat
I had a Mk1 Cab, sold it to a copper who lives two mins away from me, I really miss it - I have to have a glance every time I drive past his house. Despite the crap handling and brakes, I will be getting another. Garry pretty much covered it all, the most importnt thing to look out for is the filler neck, mine roted away from the back so I couldnt see it going, cost alot to cure it completely - I fitted a new neck, tank, (had to drop rear axle) both pumps, injectors, cold start valve and warm up reg. (£££££££) But I loved it!!!!! Sold it to buymy VR. 8) Good luck finding a good one. Chris. -
Show off Mr Renshaw!! just kidding. fair one. 8)

Were the Cobra alarms fitted by VW/Karmann? -

Not being fussy at all, my blood boils when people knock my car with their doors, if someone had gone into the back of me and laughed........ well anyway, go through the insurance, you did nothing wrong and now you have a damaged car, make him pay to have it fixed!

belt slipping like a biffer on an ice rink grrrrr
ziderapple replied to eatthis's topic in Engine Bay
I know, the standard pulley looks mahosive compared to the one you were running!! I'll be in contact soon, theres a few questions I have, hopefully be fitting it once I've got the mocal sorted and money for the remap. getting quotes for chains, clutch and tappets at the moment :( .... holding things up. Thinking about having a go myself in the summer, I've got a Bently manual, access to a engine hoist, all the tools and a garage, just lacking a bit of confidence and know how.... opps, eatthis sorry about the thread hijack!! -

Oi James!! -
Worth watching for the Veyron, also there is no way I'd sit through a Hugh Grant movie, but he seemed quite likeable (I get ball ache too!) I love Top Gear.

All I seem to do lately is look at Alloys, I need to go bigger in order to fit my bigger brakes but I really cant choose..... plus I dont really have the wonga to get the ones I realy want.

Are all C's one window at a time, passenger side first? Mine has full closure, but its got a cobra alarm fitted, which I always presumed was an aftermarket kit someone had fitted, or did they leave the factory with Cobra alarms fitted? -
My Gear stick vibrates/shakes in first gear, always has, I've just got used to it, I did change the front mount which made things a bit better. I'll be changing the rear and 'box mounts soon so I'll let you know if that cures it. I had thought it could be down to the linkages, but it only does it in first...

Vr's do get through a bit of oil, unless its using loads I shouldnt worry.

Plug and Play for me too please. Good luck.

I was told recently that someone was running 4 pot brembos with D90's on a mk2 golf, I think the fact adaptors are used helps with the clearance. I hope they do, as I have just got my calipers and carriers from a breakers and am on the look out for some D90. a definite answer would be nice though.
-
Think I'll go for the D90's, I think they look cool. Modern alloys dont really float my boat. would love some nice BBS splits, RS 301's being the ultimate.

BLACKG60 there will be loads of Dub's running around on Merc wheels this summer, be fine for 4 stud but getting adaptors for 5x100 to 5x112 may not be easy. G60SC_Stoney loving thoses wheels, still got em?
