    Pollen Filter

would it be worth fitting one of these if you dont have a/c? As a hayfever sufferer it would be great in the summer - I'll just have to boil in the car though...
  2. 01932772400 There you go.
  3. Used to have a Mk1 Golf but it had to go, I have to use a Transit Connect  for work, so C is for ocassional evening use and every weekend :D
  4. Called Cobra alarms today and explained that the rubber bit from the fob which goes onto the key ring had snapped(on both fobs now). A polite lady Said 'no problem sir' - took my name and address and said she'll pop a couple in the post for me. I know they probably cost less than a penny but it was so nice to have a quick, polite, no hassel and free service. Breath of fresh air! Just thought I'd share it with you guys. :)
  5. thanks, any chance you've got the part no? my local stealers will probably try and tell me there is no such thing, or that my black one is in fact blue..... cheers. Chris.
  6. Hi, for reasons I cannot explain (must have sensed a gremlin) before starting up the c this morning I thought I had bettter just check levels, and noticed a small split in the top coolant hose, so I limped to my local VW specialist so he could take a look and order in the correct hose - evidently an expensive bas***d - plus it split while he was looking at it firing coolant in his eye  (he's ok though!) So I have just ordered a set of Samco hoses :D (tried to order through g-werks but said would have to wait 5 weeks - sorry g man) found a supplier with a set on the shelf said they'll be here by tommorrow. anyway I still have the old black coolant cap on the expansion tank, as I'm spending money on the cooling at the mo do you guys think it would be worthwhile getting a later blue one? Cheers. Chris.
  7. ok, I'm sure I was once told it was the introduction of aluminium. Are they still galvanzied then? never see a rotten Audi!
  8. Where does the A at the fron of Audi models come from, ie: A2, A3, A4... previously Audis were galvanzied when they were 50, 80 , 100. This is to settle an argument. Cheers. Chris.
  9. Thanks again for the replys. Thought std springs with lowered shocks would be a pain. Well I'll PM you both in novemebr. Surfer.vr6 are your shocks ok aswell? hauling contraband back  not that bad, just i have visions of car bottoming out when loaded up! Cheers guys. Chris.
  10. Supercharged, thanks, think i'll go for a set of BERU from them. Can you tell me if mine is coil or dizzy? Just the 6 HT leads as far as I can see. Thanks. Chris.
  11. Hi, I have done a search for HT recomendations. I currently have BBT leads. Euro parts sell HANSA - anyone had experience with them? £37 -sounds bit cheap to me, I called main stealers who told me I'd be looking at £120!! - is that right? I think it was an actual monkey taking my call. Car is a 94 vr. oh and is it dizzy or coil pack? Thanks
  12. surfer.vr6, TIMMYVR, gaz the geezer, thank you very much, really appreciated. Not sure what my shocks will be like on standard springs as their gas? be ok wont they? gaz the geezer, are your eibachs standard size? I'll pm you nearer the time lads, see if your still ok to lend me them. surfer.vr6, think your the closest to me . Thanks again. Wicked forum!! :D
  13. It looks like I'm going on a fairly long trip around Christmas time, well Bristol to Albi (Midi-Pyrenees in France) which according to AutoRoute door to door is around the 800 mile mark. My car is LOW, sump occasionally kisses the the floor, speed bumps etc. I was wondering as most dont run the standard 4x4 suspension setup, if there was any kind soul who would be willing to lend, rent or sell me thier original springs for the trip? I will collect and return them (unless they are unwanted). Main reasons being comfort, but mostly I want to bring back a fair amount of booze, and obvioulsy with 4x4 I can carry more. :D The trip is not 100% yet, but more than likely, so if anyone could help please let me know. My C is a 94 Vr (bought the car lowered so I dont have original springs) Thanks for taking the time to read this post. Chris.
  14. Was a new one for me. Fair one to the bloke weaving through the cones!
  15. How about this for a Chuftie, a mate of mine who's a die hard 20vt fan, had a go in mine, then promptly sold his complete S3 running gear - engine, 'box, loom, ecu - works and bought a VR!
  16. my vr ticks over around 600-700... something to be concerned about? Looking at the engine the righthand side appears ever so slightly lower. Think I'll get the mounts looked at. Wish I lived close to Stealth.
  17. Yeah deffo the sump, I did an oil change yesterday and the front/bottom of it is all scraped, not really badly ie: no deep cuts but its getting a bit battered. The exhaust heat guard on mine also scrapes the floor. The car had a brand new sump on it when I bought it a month ago. Spoilers not a prob. It does appear as though one corner of the engine sits slightly lower, so back to mount again I suppose?? Does anyone know if theres a company out there who make a shallow sump? Also what rpm does your vr tick over at? (all)

    SPORTS CAT...

ok ignorance here but if one de-cats their car do you need to fit one back on annually for the mot?
  19. Hi, I have a 94vr and it's sat on a lowering kit - I'm afariad I do not know which, has no markings on the struts except some stampped lettering, which appeared to be in French...IIRC, but I have only seen the rear struts. They are yellow with red springs (technical eh?! ) The problem I have is with the sump scuffing on the floor on nasty speed bumps when travelling aliitle too fast (only done the once) and when pulling on to my sloping drive - never had this on any previous lowered car. Just meausured the front and its 315mm ish from arch to wheel centre and 570ish arch to floor (parked on side of a cambered road at mo hence the ish ness! if you know what i mean). I have had some juddering pulling away problems which people on here have advised could be down to a worn engine mount. So basically does anyone else sump occasionally scuff on the floor? does it sound like a mount problem or worse? Also the protective shield on the exhaust scrapes on driveway too. Thanks in advance.
  20. ReekieVR, I have used the velcro with short chain method in the past, what I did was to use the part of a sliding bolt assembely - the part which the bolt slides into, I riveted this to the side of the boot (shove the drill bit right into the chuck on the drill so u dont pop out of the rear wing once your drilled through) then I bolted a chain the the sub box and padlocked the chain to the part robbed from the bolt assy. As everyone has said the velcro is enough to stop it moving under driving conditions and the chain will stop the bad boy sparking you out in the event of a crash- plus using a padlock intead of fixing it to the side of boot directly makes it easier to remove, also makes life a hell of a lot more difficult for thieving gobsh*te$ ! Oh and use steel rivets not ally ones!
  21. Thats not too bad then, I've got three days off next week so I'll change the gearbox oil, and replace the engine mount. Car is a 94 vr, and idea which mount it'll be? Thanks.
