  1. I've got a new clutch release arm to go on.
  2. I removed the gearbox today and noticed some scoring on it adjacent to the shaft - I've rubbed my finger over it, so its not too clear but it was fresh and clean before. Would a worn clutch cause the scoring?? And my friction plate. (not a great pic)
  3. Just a silly question but were is the reservoir?
  4. Thanks Del. Well I had a look at the slave cyclinder today and its shagged!
  5. At the finish of play today. In the Wiki guide it describes the use of a flywheel locking tool, which would be nice, but heres how I did it - may be useful to someone who's not a mechanic (such as myself) and is thinking of undertaking this job - dead easy (compared to making a tool up imo). I only got to work on it for a few hours today as I had to go to college this morning. Taking off the gearbox is a right bast*rd - the worst part is the bracket at the back - the rear bolt which holds it on fouls the mount and took some serious wiggling to get it out! New chains will be fitted and box back on tommorrow.
  6. Cazza its dragon green, (so not pearl??) I'll keep the pic's coming, taking loads, if only to help with re-assembly! Got a lot to do this week, I'm hoping a Mocal cooler will be turning up from stealth, plus I'm really tempted to pull the head off now!! Oh, and on a side note I was amazed at how light the inlet mani is, I know its made of ally but still! Be no good as a paper weight!
  7. I have had this clunking sound for a while now, I was sure it was coming from the front near side and guess what I found toady... Inner CV please sir......
  8. Hi Everyone, been a member on here for a while now so I thought it was time to start my own thread. I bought my Corrado in June last year, had a couple of probs with it since - cracked thermostat housing, spit hose and worn engine mount but generally its been good to me. All I can say is you lot are a bad influence!! I was very happy with my standard car, then I started reading about Shreks, 'chargers and turbos, well six months after buying the car I bought a Vortech stage 2 kit!! The kit has been sitting around for a couple of months but today I have started work. I'm doing the chains, clutch and fitting the charger this week and all being well I'm off to Stealth on the 20th for my re-map. Car late this morning (un-washed I'm afriad): And a few hours later: Thanks for looking. :D
  9. I always park as far away from shop entrances as I can where there are no other cars. I was forced to squeeze into a small gap last summer and some gobsh*te in his red mx5 walloped my door, it had even left red paint on my door!! Worst dink on my car by a mile and it wound me up soo much!! As said above people just dont seem to have any respect.
  10. Will do, Thanks. Its not a total disaster as I have got next week off work to do my chains, clutch and fit my charger, in fact I picked up all my bits from the stealers today, I think my car knew... I had to laugh though!
  11. I just jumped in my car to go and rescue my brother as he had broken down, and I put my foot on the clutch and it fell to the floor, I can pull it back up to its normal position and it'll stay there untill I touch it again, its like its getting pulled down. I have never worked on a hyraulic clutch before so I'm not sure on this one. Cars is a 94 VR. Thanks in advance. Chris.
  12. Any progress on this? Did you know you got a mention in the march Golf+ mag?
  13. You should let your engine warm up before doing things like that James!! Second vid' looked pretty rapid!
  14. Thanks for the info RS VR6, but I need the parts by this weekend so they have now been ordered. Pi**es me off big time by how much we get ripped off in this country. :censored: I really cant believe the difference in price.. Cheers.
  15. Got to be easy to do in a car with that much power. I think I would cry though...
  16. Ok, its on the list. Thanks.
  17. Is that the one on the the list in the Wiki guide? Priced at 30 od quid for some sealant? Thanks.
  18. Using the wiki guide I picked out the following parts to order to do the chains and clutch, can anybody advise wether I should add anything to this list (or remove), thanks. Guide upper timing chain guide rail 021109513 £7.59 Guide lower timing chain guide rail 021109469 £2.80 Repair Kit crank/lower timing case oil seal 68198171 £24.66 Tensioner Golf Mk4 top pad 021109509 £6.79 Bolt tensioner for Golf Mk4 top pad 021109507B£22.51 Spring clutch release arm retaining 012141741 £0.36 Lever clutch release arm 02J141719B9.67 Chain lower timing chain - simplex 021109465B£29.27 Tensioner lower timing chain tensioner 021109467 £19.93 Screw flywheel fixing bolts (10) N90539801£0.82 Ball Pin clutch release arm pivot pin 02A141777£2.26 Chain upper timing chain - duplex 021109503A£59.18 Gasket oil cooler seal 38117070£2.17 Seal Paste oil cooler seal 038117070A£2.57 7307725 Clutch clutch kit; p/plate, f/plate, release bearing 021198141AX £120.00 £364.94 inc Vat. (ouch..) :( I was going to do the tappets aswell as the engine is quite tappy from cold, but have been advised that could be down to poor oil pressure/worn guides? So I'm tempted to leave them off the list as that'll prob be another £100 on top. Cheers.
  19. More proof you should only feed you C with V-power!
  20. Didnt expect that. Sorry you've lost your job James. Be a real shame if you sell it, I doubt many people will finish it to the standard that you would of.
  21. me on a "pimps an ho's" night out last month after pinching bunny ears from a hen.... silly drunken boy..... tut tut p.s I really didnt like the idea for the theme of the night, and wasnt going to go, but in the end it was a really cool night!
