hi all, earlier on my pas window stopped working. i did a search on it and ruled out a fuse problem as the drivers window works fine as do the mirrors (both sides) when i press the button i can hear a clicking from behind me, so the module thing is trying to do something. also when i try the switch the headlights dim, not sure whats happening, could the motor be knackered? all help is as always gratefully recieved martin

Advice on lumpy, erratic 2.0 16v - being a bit crap again..
easypops replied to Jim's topic in Engine Bay
check the 3 wires going into the switch for breakages, two of mine were broke but the plastic around them were intact ??? as soon as i fixed this....steady idle :D that was two weeks ago and not a flicker, only took about 7 or 8 months to find. keep going jim you will get there -
when i took the old wheel off mine there was only one wire? after a wee bit of messing about i found the boss was effectively the other wire. my quick fix was because i was at work and couldnt be bothered taking the boss off to retrieve the other wire works fine tho so no worries :)

are you sure it wasnt that miniture stormtrooper under your bonnet playing wiyh your air intake hose

hi i had the same thing, fixed it by getting a bit of wire , putting a spade clip onto it, baring the other end and wrapping it round the metal of the boss. worked fine since then. i think on some wheels the boss is the other metal bit if you know what i mean either the pos or the neg martin

hi all, for at least the last 6 months my c has had a dodgy idle posted on here about it a few times and got some good advise ie check for vacum leaks how to clean the isv however the problem was still there , changed the throttle body-didnt help got a new throttle potentiometer-didnt help so today was really annoyed with the situation, and bit by bit started feeling all the pipes for air leaks-still no joy until i got to the two small hoses that join under the big rubber pipe, touching them seemed to alter the idle-progress took it all off for a good look hoping/expecting to see something-guess what all was as it should be  put it all back together and realised that i hadnt put the electric plug back on the throttle body, went to do it and noticed that the blue wire seemed a bit longer than the other two, gave it a wee tug and it stretched eureka moment :D quickly stripped the rubber protective bit off and found the brown wire and the blue wire were both broken but the covering wasnt(not sure how this happened) dont really care either stripped both wires and rejoined them, and put the plug on STEADY IDLE :D :D :D :D tried it a few times since and all is well. fantastic  i know a lot of people on here have similar problems and i would advise checking the state of the wiring around the tb and the isv i found this by pure luck and useful pointers from various forum members cheers all :D :D :D :D :D :-P

hi all, my 2.0 16v seems to have the same thing as a lot of others. i know this subject has been covered many times but i havent seen the exact same symptoms as mine(apologies if there is and i missed it) the car starts first time all the time , idles a wee bit high for a couple of secs then settles about 9 the car will run fine then but when switched off and then re-started the idle problem starts, generally quite high and a bit up and down recently cleaned the isv with carb cleaner, soaked in petrol and oiled before re-fitting. this seemed to help but the problem has gradually returned the car has a newish distributor, newish leads and a recently replaced throttle body. if anyone has any thoughts that would be great cheers martin

success !! thanks for all the help i noticed that the hook on the old cable just sat in the ring on the end of the peddle. when i got the new one in position this didn't seem right as it kept slipping out. then i remembered a wee rubber thingy that i found under the old mat when i first got the car. a quick rummage in the toolbox and there it was. fantastic, it fitted like it was meant to go there lol good tip about the grommet nocrap craigowl thank you for the offer and joe bloggs GREAT tip on the gloves or i would have bled for sure cheers martin :D
