Vince would be my advice too. Mine says Ford on it as well so this may be the original part

Isn't that just driing from one end of Jersey to the other? Would be dangerous, not enough run off to stop or turn around
-
Only ever parked my Corrado in a multi storey once and some :censored: left a big dent in the passenger door. Still haven't got round to fixing it 6 months later
-
Want to get mine timed this year, was going to at Flames & Thunder last year but couldn't face it after a day on the strongbow with Kev :gag:

Those JBL rear 6x4s will require cutting the rear shelves. Well worth it tho, much better than the standard speakers

Sub 15s is pretty good for NA, have you had yours dyno'd?

When my coilpack went it started to stutter and misfire. Still driveable and didn't stall but sounded horific and had a major loss of power. If they were your symptons then that's almost certainly the cause. The test is to run the car with the broken coilpack fitted and spray water on it, gives a pretty funky light show

The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...
Mark_Storm replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
Haven't actually done anything today, but did organise to pick up all the bits I need to replace after the garage flambeyed them during the MOT! Fingers crossed it will make it the whole way through the MOT next time -
I'm guessing if there's no key fobs then the immobliser (if that system has one) isn't working. Keyfobs aren't cheap (prob £70-100) and sounds like it may need some new wiring so you're probably better off getting a new one fitted. Cat 1 alarm / immobilisers should be around £260-£300, alarm only from about half that. Otherwise if you still want to try and resurrect the old one then get out the yellow pages and look for auto electricians. Any of them should be able to test it and tell you fairly quickly what's what

Genesis Amps (Up front mounting possible?)
Mark_Storm replied to mattnorgrove's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
I agree that a seperate sub and amp can offer a better sound overall but it just depends what music you listen to and how loud you want it. I spent a load doing my old golf only to find I couldn't listen to it above 1/3rd volume and had to keep the bass down or the rear mirror shook so much I couldn't see out of it. Decided this time to spend the money on a proper set of components and decent amp and just a little active sub to fill in the lower stuff. Sub might not be up to much compared to a lot out there but for £80 it's ideal for the job, piece of p!ss to wire in and doesn't take up too much space -

Agree with that. If the MB Quarts have separate crossovers you'll use most of the space upfront with those so only place for the amp is in the boot. Did mine with a sub and still have plenty of useable space. Re-did the boot carpet so I don't have to move anything to get to the spare wheel too http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=72215&start=15 -
Most 5.25" components should fit. I fitted a set of JBL competition components. Had to drill the fixing holes out on the speakers a couple of mm but otherwise everything went in and looks completely std. Running on a JL audio amp and sounds awesome!

that is so funny! £65k :cuckoo: :cuckoo: what was he thinking? and what will he come up with next?

Just spotted this, that's good news mate. Will still try and pick them up from the garage so you've got a full spare set

Great price on limited mileage / classic insurance policy..
Mark_Storm replied to Jim's topic in Insurance
I tried getting a quote from hagerty last year and was looking similar to that but as soon as I mentioned cams and a remap they said they couldn't provide cover :( -
If you don't have the top mounts, bearing etc then try g-werks. They do a complete kit. VW didn't seem to have a clue what was involved

Goodridge hoses gone on now. One of the calipers is fine, the other is binding so it works but will just get the disc and pad burning hot on any long journeys

The "what I did to my Corrado today" thread...
Mark_Storm replied to Jim's topic in General Car Chat
Treated the car to new rear wheel bearings, front wishbones and bushes, refurbed 288 & std rear calipers, grooved discs and red stuff pads all round. But one of the calipers isn't releasing :( -
Just had a set of 288mm calipers refurbed up at Biggred and fitted to the car at a local garage. Garage have said the drivers side isn't releasing, they've stripped it twice but it didn;t fix the problem. Didn't think much could go wrong with calipers, and they'd have been tested at Biggred before they sent them out. Anyone got an idea what the problem could be?

Bodywork shop Bath/Bristol Area?? Recommendations
Mark_Storm replied to iow_corrado_g60's topic in Suppliers Forum
I have not been there myself for work but there's a place close to my work that was recommended by one of the guys in our factory who's into classic cars. I know they do a lot of insurance work as well as private. A D Jones - 0117 9660915. Did get a quote from them for some work needed on our old pool car, seemed pretty resonable - a grand for pretty much every panel but the roof, including a new door skin -
Complete brake overhaul - issue with goodridge rear hoses?
Mark_Storm replied to Mark_Storm's topic in Drivetrain
Thanks Supercharged. It all looks good, they fit a little rubber bung into the threads before doing anything, might just be a bit of paint has got on to the start of the threads tho. I've dropped everything off at a local garage, so they should be able to clean the threads up a bit. Just wanted to make sure it was the right hose kit. -
I've just had all the bits come in for my brake overhaul - calipers back from biggred (set of 288 and just another set of std rears), new discs and pads from CRN and goodridge hoses from GSF. I've had a play with them before they go on the car but the rear hoses don't want to go into the calipers. The fronts just screw straight in no problem and don't want to strip the threads so haven't tried forcing it. Anyone had this before? I know the rear calipers are mk2 golf style so don't know if this is where the problem lies - are they the same fitment as mk3s?
-
Yeah when I was at Stealth the year before last it showed up on the VAG-COM. They turned it off for £75+VAT but I was having the car mapped so it was already plugged up. It was all done through their laptop though rather than doing something physical to turn it off
-
Must admit I agree they don't look great but am hoping to do a front end respray at some point this year and will probably get one just for motorway driving
-
Looks similar to what my bro did to me in his old TVR, before the police caught up with us :nono: That was obvioulsy on a good day when it didn't break down
