If you go for the Silverline's then they have stainless steel pistons, which should be more corrosion resistant. Otherwise I think they should be pretty similar. Think the Silverline's are slightly cheaper, check out Venom.

Yeah, the edges and logo can be in a variety of colours. They give all the options on the website: http://www.justmatz.co.uk/products_price_list.html# The blue isn't quite as bright as shown in the picture but still lighter than I was hoping for. Storm logo is spot on tho. They will also make up any logo you want, just email them a pic and they will give you a price. This was a non standard logo but didn't cost any extra

Here's a quick pic of the drivers side. Passenger side has the logo but no heelpad. Rears don't have the logo.

I had a Magnex on my Mk3 golf 1.8 and it sounded just right. I have just bought a full Magnex exhuast from Venom and am having it fitted next Thursday. Will let you know what I think and can maybe send you a sound clip if you want.

Yeah, definately go for the VR. Now I've had one I wouldn't go for anything less. Not just cos of the power but the engine is so much smoother. Running costs will be higher, I've had an average of 26mpg over the last 2000 miles, but that isn't too bad IMO. I let my gf drive the car (putting her on the insurance acttually made it cheaper) and she loves it, and has no problems driving it. Scarlet_VR6 - is your rear spoiler working cos when mines up rear visibility is rubbish! (very difficult to see if the car behind you is a copper, been caught out once already)

2 years ago, I don't feel so bad then! Think I'm going to have a go at fitting them myself, just hope nothing's rusted!

Saw the thread about blub condoms but on the dashlights web site they only sell the covers up to 10mm wide which won't fit over an indicator bulb Any chance you could pick up some for me? Or maybe start a GB for them?

I have just bought a set of red rear light clusters and was told that fitting green bulbs to the indicators will give a proper orange flash. Anyone tried this? Anyone know where I can get some?

I did a fair bit of research and have just ordered a set of FK Silverline X coilovers. Koni dampers designed for FK, height and rebound adjustable with all stainless components. Got them for £620 inc delivery from Venommotorsport. Seemed like a pretty good deal, will let you know what they're like when I get round to fitting them.

Ditto! I'm definately up for a GB and for those DDI dials too. Where can you get those from?

Thanks Trig. I'm not that bothered about having rebound adjustment so can't really justify another £150 just for that, but if it is a better unit then maybe its worth it. Can anyone shed any more light on this?

Am looking at upgrading my VR to either FK Highsports or Konigsports. Is the only difference that the Konigsports are adjustable or are they a better damper all together?

I have exactly the same problem on mine. Always happens on start up, but is goes once the engine warms up. I've had 3 1.8 VWs with between 80 and 175k on the clock and have never heard it on any of them. Haven't done much investigating but will have a listen and see if its coming from the same area. Has anyone had, and rectified, this problem? Or are the possible causes suggested just best guesses?

Thanks Reaper. I've already looked at this subject and a load of other ones like it but its a different problem. My fans work on all speed settings but the dial for the direction simply won't turn all the way round. I did find one that mentioned about it not working on the windscreen setting but can't even find that one again.

I have done a number of searches and cannot find any with the same problem. I cannot get the fans to work through the dash vents: the knob will not physically turn all the way round, it gets stuck in the dash / footwell position but nothing comes through the dash. I am going to have a go at stripping this apart over the weekend, I figure its either a problem with the cables behind the control unit or the flaps diverting air to the dash is stuck/broken. Has anyone else had this problem? If so can you point me in the right direction.

Just filled up on Tesco Super which is 99Ron (according to the pumps) and been out for a bit of a thrash. Definately feels smoother both when idling and accelerating. Might give optimax a try but certainly won't be using std unleaded again!

Do you reckon you get any performance gains? Might have to run the tank down and give it a try. Are there any down points to using super?

Can anyone give me some advice on which coilovers to get for my VR? Have been looking a few different makes but I've read they can make the drive really hard. I'll be using this alot more on the road than track so I don't want it too harsh.
