Had mine sitting in storage for for ages while I moved house. Finally got round to fitting it last weekend and it sounds absolutely amazing! Love the way it changes engine note with the Schrick manifold too! £160 seems about right for new, and totally worth it!

I'm with Chris Knott, only others close were Brentacre. £830 including all mods, 230bhp limit. I'm 26 with 1 years NCD, 2 accidents in 5 years and 3 points so I reckon that's a pretty darn fine price!

Try using a wire drill brush to clean them up. Not sure if these are quite right but you get the idea. Any DIY place will do them: http://www.amazon.co.uk/3PC-WIRE-BRUSH- ... B000LG0RI8

Cheers for the advice guys. Normally I'd be up for driving over there but just don't have the time at the mo and don't like eaving the car unalarmed so I've gone with a company recommended by someone at work. Will post up my thoughts in the other threads.

Cheers for the advice, will try and hunt him down. Just been quoted £255 for a Toad Ai606, plus extra to wire in the full closure (estimated ~£30). Is this more in line with the norm?

Need a new system as mine is playing up. I've been quoted £320 + VAT to remove the current one and install a Meta total closure Cat 1, is this a good price? Also are Meta systems any good, haven't heard of them before.
-
OK it's been messing about again so I took it to an electrician who has checked all the sensors and said it's definately the alarm that's the problem. He didn't charge me for checking which was pretty good of him and gave me a price of £320+VAT to rip it out and fit a Meta alarm & immobiliser (Thatcham Cat 1). Is this a good manufacturer / price? I just want a full closure Cat 1 system and am not that fussed about the extra options you can get with Toad or Clifford alarms.

I thought these were also illegal to fit on manual cars? I thought they were for automatics only to make sure you're not in gear when you start it. Either way it probably will affect your insurance because when you start the car remotely it effectively has no immobiliser and can be easily hot wired.

When i was up at Stealth in the summer they had a retrofit wiper blades that looked similar to the Lupo/TT ones but didn't need new arms. I'd try them first

Went and had a look again, and it's cured itself! How or why I don't know but it's played up before so I'm sure it'll happen again at some point. Thanks for the pointers, will keep the info handy!

I don't have a manual so appreciate it! I had a play yesterday but came to no conclusion. Sometimes it gives 2 x 3 bleeps which would indicate a door/boot/bonnet open but i've checked all these and can't identify which one isn't working. Sometimes though its like its making up its own tune, can't figure it out. I have worked out though that it sets, the alarm will go off once and then it works ok from there so it'll just be annoying the neighbours for a little while until i get it sorted. Anyone know someone in the Bristol area that works on these alarms?
-
Just this weekend i have started having a few problems with my alarm; when i lock the car using the key fob it bleeps twice and all locks ok but then about 10 seconds later starts bleeping away. A coupe of times it has then set the alarm off. I'm guessing it is probably a sensor gone wrong somewhere but know nothing about electrics. Anyone got any ideas?

G Werks so a full set of top mounts (something a main dealer seems unable to do!). Would definately recommend doing this if you're doing the swap

Did get pulled by the French police in May driving down through the French Alps to Nice the day before the Monaco grand prix. Myself, a Clio V6 and a Lotus Elise both with the sports exhaust upgrades. Must've heard us coming miles away! No evidence or anything like that, just 'you were seen speeding in the last village, do you have money on you?'. Luckliy we did, spot fine and all on our way :D

I was driving with my bro in his tvr getting onto the m4, had to wait for the omega in the outside lane of the slip road to move before putting our feet down and having a little play before coming off at the next junction at which point the aforementioned omega put on his lights, pulled us both and proceeded to show us a recent video he had taken before awarding us with 3 points and a £60 fine each :( . He did comment that we both had very nice cars and were probably capable of driving at speed but that it was a busy motorway and you can't predict other drivers. Thought they were pretty fair, could've been a lot worse!

I bought a 're-con' engine for my golf and had endless problems with it, just from one thing to another, so wouldn't use them again or recommend them. This was a few years ago so they might have changed, but there are enough good places about that there's no need to take the risk
-
They'll always try and pay out as little as possible so never accept a first offer. You'll need to do some digging and find some similar condition cars to prove what it's worth

Revcounter needle bouncing up & down - engine revs are ok th

I have had a similar problem with my VR. Engine runs fine but the rev counter was playing up, as if it kept disconnetcting and reconnecting. Figured it was something to do with me wiring up the Schrick inlet but never fully investigated it. Stopped doing it as quickly as it started ??? -
Cheers for the advice, I'll keep my eye out and see what it goes for
-
Anyone know anything about these? Seen one for sale, just wondering whether it will make any difference. Apparently its been removed from a TSR VR6 engine after a car crash but the seller doesn't really know what is different about it
-
Won't even say it on the V5. I rang VW to check mine was a genuine storm before I bought it
-
Wouldn't mind driving the VR when I'm 60, but I'd hate to have to get back that Nissan Sunny!
-
I got my cams fitted and remapped at Stealth. I got an extra 9bhp just from fitting the cams and a further 10bhp from the remap so defaintely worth doing IMO
-
Fair enough. I did manage to get my heater matrix out without removing the dash but it does require sweat, foul language and a little 'persuasion'!
-
Yeah i've got a similar set up, had to take the whole lot apart to find the problem tho. Its got a couple of screws fixed into it to hold one of the flaps open so its quite a bodge at the mo but atleast works now. Blimey! All that for just the heater matrix or were you doing other stuff aswell?
