You wanna hear noise..just pull up next to a Mustang GT with your window down and listen to that take off at the traffic lights. This happened to me on the way home tonight from work..sounded like thunder!!

Seems we are all jumpy about the same thing...mine runs "hot".or so I thought. Oil between 96 and 100 and water hovering around the 100c mark but it seems everybody elses is running at those kind of temps too. mind you my fan doesn't cut in till 105ish so i think thats wrong?

any update on this...my little one is now a year old and we have to the golf to out cos his seat wont fit properly in the back of the C..?
-
Its prob been asked before but is it possible to swap the heater system from a mk 4 or 5 golf into the Corrado? i mean the control panel and air diverting mechanics?
-
yeah mines a vr6...and im still not convinced the fans are working properly. The temp hovers around 95 100 then when standing still hits 110deg and the fans cut in..should they come in earlier..whole expansion tank was empty this morning..explains the warning light anyway :(
-
Yep its totally normal and we tend to put with it cos the drive is so good..mines still rubbish and ive tried everything. Might swap it for a skoda system if its any better!!!...lol

after reading all the posts (including mine) about all the various problems with colling systems..can anyone explain why a company like vw (who have a reputation for quality supposedly) should make a car with a heating and cooling system made of chocolate? The rest of the car is brilliant, the ride, the traction, the engine just great...but they seem to have decided " tell you what chaps we've done everything else great lets bugger up the heater stuff so we get some servicing revenue in" and they've stuck a playmobil system in..its such a shame sigh..well whinge over i'm off to try and fix (yet again) my heater switches so i get warm air all 4 settings not just level 4 (the controls arent even a year old) and try to understanding why despite £100's, new parts and many hours its still losing water!!..Good job it's a bloody gorgeous car to drive anywhere isnt it..lol
-
ive got the same prob...had the thermostat changed, heater matrix, heater pump and even tried fitting the blue expansion tank cap...but im still losing the dam stuff! cant see any leaks anywhere hoses all look fine?....completly mystified!!!!
-
mmmm could that be why i'm losing my hair too!!!!..............lol

Im just wondering if the heater blowers are affecting it?..(when they work, mine have just decided to work on number 4 setting only again a year after being replaced with a new set!!) Perhaps they are pumping something through the vents thats settling on the wheel and dissolving it road salt for instance??. .dunno what do you think?
-
What can I say...lol I'm getting a low droning from the rear of the car when moving..thought it might be the fuel pump had that changed but its still there so im assuming rear wheel bearings?...what do you guys think? Are they expensive?..Is it an easy job to do? Cheers

Ive still got an original corrado steering wheel in my vr6 but just recently its started to flake. the surface especially on the top section. It has suddenly gone all sticky and seems to be disintergrating on me. My hands feel like they got glue all over them after driving and small granules of the wheel surface are rubbing off (I know re reading this it all sounds a bit oooer missus). is there a way of resealing it or stopping it falling apart or am I heading towrads a new purchase?
-
will this fix the non mirror heating problem too?
-
how do i do that?
-
graham i have no issues with your support and never have done mate, you were great. My beef at the time was the fact i had paid nigh on 7k for a car that had so many problems right from the day i bought it. I was and still am impressed by your speed of response and the fact you were prepared to come down on your day off and fix the issues..brilliant. People on here should use you for their work as all the work you did for me was great. I can only assume I was unlucky and got the car that in the end needed so much remedial work done on it.
-
ok but is there a specific one thats needed? or will any thats says vr6 will do?
-
couple of things..on my VR6 1. Ive decided to fit a new clutch but was wondering which one wuld be best?..the standard kit or is it worthwhile paying the extra and getting the sports kit? 2. Fuel pump is whining so thats goone be changed too...but which one. ive looked on "online automotive and theyve got 4 listed ranging from £90 to £142...whats the difference? cheers

which uni are going to?...closer or further from swindon? Rough idea of cost too. It has the usual swirls on the bonnet etc and there is a whiteish deposit that comes when i try (poorly) the polish it. cheers

Ive got a Sony Giga panel headunit and it has a sub option on the volume adj. Does this mean I can just plug a sub straight into the back of the unit or will i have to have a seperate amp to drive it as well. I know i know you're all sitting there thinking "doesn't this bloke know anything!!!!"....................and you'de be right lol

Time has come to sort out the dull mettalic paintwork once and for all. No doubt down to my inept attempts at washing and polishing but can anyone recommend a good valeter around Swindon, chippenham that kind of area who's handy with the polisher and hot soapy water, who can perform miracles and make my C look as tho I havent abused it for 12months? Cheers
