    2l g6o

A close friend of mine bought a whole car off Tim Stiles - a mk1 hill climber on the famous 'OKU' plate. -this thing was mental, - 2.1, quaife box, lightened balanced flywheel e.t.c. - crazy car. Anyway, he obviously had a lot of dealings with the company and said that in his opinions some of the mechanics were slightly iffy. - in taking his car apart at a later date he found wires pretty much held in with chewing gum e.t.c. - perhaps this is where any negative 'rumours' stem from....However, he couldn't speak highly enough of Tim, and i delbt with him last year getting my manifold when he was very helpful. Still, you do pay for quality.....
  2. On my old 8v gti (which is now for sale  ) i've got exactly the same product, - the 4branch tsr stainless manifold. If you want, i can measure this so you can see if they've given you the wrong one or not. - I've got a feeling though, that most of the 8v manifolds are the same but don't quote me on that. If you are in the market for another one i imagine volkspeed are the people to call, - They do loads of g60 specific stuff and no doubt one suitable for your application.

    Head work

I've heard that in standard form the G60 heads don't flow particularly well, so i'd be interested to know what kind of an improvement your new one makes...- Let us know mate and good luck :D

    Head work

When getting a performance head, its worth noting whether the price you are quoted includes EVERTHING you need. For example, i was gonna get the TSR equivalent of the head you're after, - the pack C head. This was priced roughly the same price, but turns out that you then needed an additional head fitting pack including bolts, gaskets e.t.c that cost another £150 meaning the head now looked like £700ish. Worth thinking when shopping around...
  5. Hi Darren, i was gonna pm or e-mail you about this but thought others might be interested as well.....The question is, are you actually fabricating ic's now??? - if so, are they solely for corrados or are you doing them for all g-lader housing cars? Any info appreciated! :D
  6. Sounds sweet, - used to have a tsr 4branch on my old gti which was nice. However, - do you know if v.speed make manifolds for other applications as well? - I've got a standered (+rusty) 8v on my corrado conversion golf at the mo, but fancy upgrading. Asked c+r about their internally polished jobbies, mainly cause of the price. However, no one there seemed to know what would be suitable for mine seeing as its a corrado g60 lump but in a golf. Any ideas?
  7. If you want a subtle factory fit effect, go for vdo's - they look nice and are top quality. If you want somthing slightly moire interesting, try autometer, - they do a massive range with loadsa different styles. - Just got a boost gauge from them that works and looks ace.....For all these, try summitracing.com, - usa prices and everything in stock. Coincidentally, - i've got a neat 52mm Vdo water temp gauge lying around in good nick, so if your interested let me know
  8. I had probs with mine because it went in a mk2 golf and the floor pan curved up meaning that the stick would slip out of 2nd and 4th. When this wasnt happening though it was great fun, - really short and make a satisfying 'clicking' sound. Only prob your likely to have is getting the central pin out of the front, - as majik says, you can grind this, or cane it with a hammer....not that i did this at all.....
  9. Best thing's gotta be the pictures on B&M's instructions. - I imagine it would be an easy '1hour fit' if you could see what the f*** they were on about!!!
  10. If i was you i'd think twice about jabba for the charger, not cause they're pants or anything, but i've heard horror stories about only one half of the charger being flowed on one occasion and i imagine the waiting list is rather long.... -Iv'e used pitstop developments for all my tuning so far - steve and liam have been more than helpful. Not only could they source you your sns chip and pulley, but they can also get the fpr, belt e.t.c and Liam tells me he does a mean charger re-build/flow complete with porting that perfectly matches the outlet e.t.c. Best thing is their prices...To give you some idea jabba quote around £270 for chip and pulley fitted, - Liam and Steve did this but with the quality sns chip and a fpr all for £200. Nice. (Good plug eh guys, now where's my 65m?!!! )
  11. How'd you get on with that quickshift by the way majik, - is it working ok?
  12. liam and steve at pitstop said that the 20v t boxes go in with small drive shaft mods i think......... Before i do this is it generally best to get out of 1st earlier for a 1/4 mile or redline it like the other gears?
  13. Has anyone heard of the G-tECH meter you can get? - Basically through a trick use of g-force e.t.c. it can determine your bhp, 0-60, 1/4 mile times e.t.c. accurate to tenths of a sec. by just being plugged into a power source (fag lighter)...Anyway just did a rough test on a strip of road near me nicknamed the 'mad mile' and got a dissapointing 16.08...Got a good start and pulled well through all gears except 1st.....(to be continued) - To give u an idea, my golf's got full g60 conversion including the box from a corr. with an sns chip, 68m steel pulley, filter and powerflow exhaust. It currently redlines at around 13psi (ish). Thing is, 1st gear feels so weak compared to the others that you almost get a clutch-slipping sensation (it's not) in so much as the car revs round but goes no-where. Is this just the norm for the corrado box's ratios or is somthing amiss? - Other than this, the only other probs i can think of with the car are a v.knackered front mount and possible boost leak?...?... - any suggestions welcome...
  14. To do this you need to move the rad considerably though don't you? - What the best way to do this, - is it a case of fabricating new brackets e.t.c?
  15. Just had a look down the back of the engine on that side but cant see what you mean  ...Could you be slightly more specific as to its location? Many thanks
  16. Just bought one of those neat 52mm air/fuel ratio gauges from summit racing with the line of led's up the middle. Where should i hook it up to? - Is the lambda sensor easy to locate? Cheers.
  17. In my golf conversion (from a corrado g60) i've still got the pansy 120mph speedo from the original gti. Was wondering if anyone had an idea of what clocks other than the 16v units would drop/plug straight in the standard mk2 dash...-The corrado units are the wrong shape arnt they??? cheers

    exhaust

I THINK that you can specify them as an extra.......By the way Darren i got that blanking plate through this morning, - nice and shiny!!! :) cheers

    exhaust

If i were you mate i'd go powerflow... They are 100% custom and stainless steel. You get a choice of loadsa tail pipes and can even tell them what kinda tone you want. Good part is the systems start from £250 so they are no more expensive than an off the shelf jobbie and you get a lifetime warranty so you never have to get another exhaust. Before you ask i don't work for them!!!!!!!! - just love the quality of mine....
  20. Like the sound of those catch tanks. How much they gonna be roughly? Cheers
  21. Go to http://www.summitracing.com, and look up shift lights. There's a company called proform i think which do seperate shift lights. You simply dial in the revs on the back without any need for rpm pills e.t.c. I think they are only 40 odd dollars. Not as neat as your idea but easier???? :)
  22. Got a B&M quickshift at inters to fit on my G60 box, but ever since i've had it it's been playing up. I have tried playing around with the neutral adjustment screw including setting it so it goes into third with no latteral movement. This however hasn't solved the main problem which is that IT NEVER WANTS TO GET IN SECOND GEAR!!! - it moves into postion ok, but just seems to POP OUT and then crunch. It does this occasionally in 4th too... ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED, because don't know whats more annoying, - the sore shoulder or the fact that my car effectively dosn't have a second gear at the moment.... :x :x :x CHEERS
  23. I have just done this and lost the return pipe altogether. Easiest thing to do is to whack a k&n breather filter on the isv. Also, if you leave the wastegate totally exposed you get a mental dumping sound after 3500rpm  ....-Not everybody's cup of tea, - if not just leave the rubber hose which would connect the return pipe to the wastegate on with the metal gauze in it's end, - this quietens it down.
