  1. ^^^ agree with above, and I too was editing as I typed, because I know I'm not always the most tactful person and I don't want those who I know work extremely hard thinking that their work isn't appreciated! :)
  2. the only mods I have are a BMC CDA, a Magnex and a remap by DG Autotech. Results are 186.7 bhp and 195.1 lb ft. Particularly pleased with the torque - quite an increase from 3.5 years ago :D
  3. I'll have a go at putting my thoughts into words too... I joined this forum in 2006 and the CCGB a year or so later I think. I admit that I seldom log in to the CCGB forum, as this is busier (and the fact that this thread is here is significant), but I certainly value my membership. Firstly, I love receiving issues of Sprinter. Whilst I enjoy the flexibility and convenience of our online world, I prefer the printed format for something like this. The issues I have collected (including some from well before I could afford to own a C) now live in a large storage box along with a couple of other bits and pieces I have collected and from time to time I like to browse through them - something which I'd be unlikely to do if they were just pdfs for example. Being eligible to put my car on stands at shows is another big plus. I admit I seldom do these days, and this seems to be increasing as the bodywork gets worse :( , but I like that the option is still there. The track day and AGM are other yearly events organised by the CCGB which I love attending. The track day is a particular favourite (see avatar!) and I've learnt a lot from the 2 occasions I've attended and only missed this year's because I was in France. As already mentioned, I also receive a discount on my insurance premium - that is never going to be sniffed at! Finally, I like the simple fact that I am a member of the official owners' club. For me, this reinforces that it isn't just about owning a particular car :D Having said all that, I wouldn't want to miss out on this forum either. Despite a recent and long absence from all things Corrado (except using it as a daily again), I have always felt welcome on this forum and through it have made some fantastic friends, learnt a huge amount (and still know next to nothing!) and been to some brilliant meets. I really appreciate the market place here (how would we afford ownership if everything had to come from the stealers?) and I also like looking back over my member's thread and seeing the progress I have made. In conclusion (and has also already been said), I think they complement each other beautifully. If there was a way to unite them, then I'd be a supporter. I do like the idea of a members only area, but I would understand if those in charge wouldn't want this. So, onto the current issues with CCGB... one reason I haven't volunteered in the past (and this is pretty selfish, but honest), is that I don't want to be stuck in the job. If I discovered I couldn't put the time and effort in that I would want, then I would want to be able to step down knowing that someone else would happily take it on, otherwise I'd feel obliged to remain. However, I would happily do some stuff (maybe something like admin work at renewal time?), as a sort of assistant to whoever is in that role, just to help out. I would be sad to see the CCGB fold because individuals don't have enough time, so perhaps duties could be shared? As for articles for Sprinter, I haven't written anything because I can't think of anything interesting enough!!
  4. Good to hear you've got it sorted now, but shame for you that it happened when it did...
  5. just ordered one too :) over the moon that mine has made it in and if the pics are in month order on the cover, then you've even managed to put mine on my birthday month! thanks so much for organising and can't wait for it to arrive now :D
  6. Indeed! I didn't phrase that well... I meant that the bhp wasn't quite what I was hoping for. Torque, I'm very pleased with! :D
  7. Many thanks to Jim for organising today. Really enjoyed myself :D Also, apologies to Wendy for finding an excuse and getting out of helping with the BBQ! I'm v pleased with the figures, even though they weren't what I was hoping for. Ended up with 186.7bhp which is a couple lower than 3yrs ago, and 195.1lb ft which is 13 better! Graph is very smooth too :) Also great to catch up with people, although I can see plenty of names saying thanks which I recognise but didn't end up saying hello to (at least, I don't think I did!)... next time :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Would love to but I haven't got the Jetta back on the road yet and I'm rapidly running out of miles on the Corrado insurance :( Next year... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Looks like there will be 5, maybe even 6 of us at Chieveley. Should make for a nice convoy up to Banbury :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I think his ingenuity deserves £1.50, but perhaps only once! Very resourceful indeed :) Nice game too :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Good team effort! This forum is great for stuff like that :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Oh well, I doubt anyone will mind. I'm sure there'll be a few works in progress there. I'm always embarrassed by the state of the bodywork on mine though, and it's getting worse :( I'll get round to that bit one day! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Just take a look at the state of the bonnet on mine - that'll cheer you up :( Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Good, the more the merrier! See you all v soon :D Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Hi Owen, I'm not aware of anyone coming up from there, but you're welcome to meet Ollie and me in Basingstoke at 6.45am. I know that's a bit out of your way though, so perhaps meeting us (and Charlie!) at Chieveley Svcs on M4/A34 jct at 7.20am is a better option :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Don't think you can... think P6000s have been replaced by P6s Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. Thanks for the replies. I've just had 2 Conti SC3s fitted and put on the rear and the remaining 2 P7000s moved to the front. When they've worn out, I'll buy some more SC3s and see how I get on with them all round :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. No prob, nice to be able to help for once :) Had to laugh... it's not often that anything on my car is referred to as low, but it's much better than it was ;) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. there's a pic on my thread which might help, in post #217
  20. Ollie, are you coming along the M3? If so, turn off at jct 6. Straight over first r'bout (not inc. motorway one!) and 1st exit at the second r'bout. Down the hill, then at the third r'bout go straight over but get in the left hand lane as the slip road for Morrisons is immediate. I'll be in the car park, but not sure yet if Tom will make the convoy so since it might be just me, I won't be offended if you just want to meet everyone else at Chieveley! Not long to go now - yay! :D Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I reckon it's this charm which makes ex-owners mourn their loss when they sell and then pine for another. Bet it made that £90 hurt a little less too :) After more than 6 yrs of ownership, I still look back when I walk away, still watch the spoiler in the rear view mirror and still look at the car's reflection when I drive slowly past shop windows. I must be sad too, but better that than being someone who says very wistfully 'I've always wanted one of those' like I've heard soooo many times :D
  22. just read through this whole thread and now stuggling even more to make a decision!! I need 205/40/17s and have usually bought Pirellis in the past. I had been using P7000s but bought P Zero Neros last time as the P7000s weren't available. I have also tried T1-Rs which I didn't get on with at all well. I seem to be going against what most people think on this thread, but I didn't feel confident with the Toyos - maybe I was too used to the Pirellis?? Anyway, I thought I'd do a bit more research this time as I have seen Uniroyal Rainsport 2s and also Conti SC2s and SC3s advertised, and I remember hearing good things about these in the past. Although I have a Jetta, the C is being used as my daily at the mo, although I'm still doing very few miles. I fancy a change as I'm aware I could be missing out here, and given most of the comments about Pirellis (yes, the Jetta had P6000s and now P6s), I think I might well be. As far as price is concerned, it looks like I'm just going to have to put up with it :( I'd prefer to keep to a premium brand though. So my thoughts, based on what I've read, is to go for SC2s (although poss not available now and Kev's post said that a lot of info is hugely out of date/not relevant to this country) and if not, then SC3s. Wise? I'll only be buying 2 and despite John's post, I think I'll put them on the back. Apologies for the ramblings, but I guess I'm just looking for a bit of reassurance that this is a sensible move. Thanks to all who have posted; it's made very interesting reading, although I'm pretty certain I didn't take it all in...
  23. sounds like a good plan to me Charlie :) Not sure if anyone else will be coming up from B'stoke/further south (still need to check with Tom) but if so, I'd suggest meeting in Morrisons car park at 6.45am ish (eurgh, that's early!). Ollie, not sure if you meant you'd meet in B'stoke or at Chieveley Svcs?
  24. Not bad at all!! :) Welcome Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Hi Pete, just wondering if you've decided to go for any of the slam panels mentioned here and if so, which one? Or are you waiting for more photos? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
