  1. Yep - it certainly does go well. Sounds nice at full chat as well. I have to be honest and say that below 5k it reminded me of a transit van!! It sounds dull compared to the symphony of a VR6. You need to pay attention to drive it quickly. You could very easily be caught out if in too high a gear.
  2. Doh.. couldn't get my attachment to work
  3. Well after much deliberation and many months without a car I've picked this baby up. It's a very different drive to the VR6 but it's a lot of fun. It's quicker than my mates R32 golf but rubbish for launching off the line. :? I've been deliberating as to what car to get for a while but when I saw this I pretty much did the deal the day after it was listed. The car is mint and drives like new. It's the first RWD car I've owned so I'm learning new skills quickly. I still really miss the Corrado (which I sold to Zippy - hello mate!) and I was actually keeping an eye out for another one. I almost did a deal on one in Scotland that was listed here. I may well come back to Corrado ownership. If I find a minter I may well pick it up and put it in storage for a few years. Thanks for all the help with the Corrado. I've only posted this message as I still lurk here and you lot seem a very well balanced bunch of enthusiasts rather than badge snobs who only appreciate one car. Cheers. Rawhide
  4. The UK 1.6 vTEC and the JDM block are the same. The performance increases are due to higher RON fuel in Japan. JDM ones came with air con which is another belt to drive and were slightly heavier than UK spec cars. The VTEC unit was slightly different as well (mechnical rather than electric) Some of the JDM ones had LSD as well which would be handy. My money would be on the CRX. They were allways very competitive at short track stuff. Great grip and lift off oversteer as well.
  5. Cheers guys.. I think the prelude is looking like a winner. Remember this is a stop gap so reliablity, running costs and resale are just as important to me as balls out performance. As for the others; Fiat - sorry, I know they're fast but can't see anything else appealing Alfa - Nice but resale and depreciation / reliabilty puts me off Im now looking for a low mileage late model, in dark paint, with leather and manual! Not much to ask surely ;)
  6. Andy - your on my wavelength. This car is really just a stopgap for a while. The way I see it it won't cost much to run and won't lose a lot of cash while I'm saving for an S2000. I have to admit the interiors look dull as dishwater but as long as it goes well enough this isn't a big worry. I'm not looking for VR6 performance just enough to keep things interesting. I was considering a 200SX. I used to like them but only the newer shape models. However I think thats more of a balls out performance car that I'm just not interested in at the moment. I used to have a Sunny GTiR and that was rapid but quite unrefined and used to do 22mpg no matter how you drove it :(
  7. Other than I'm on the wrong forum.. I'm thinking this might fit the bill for a while. I've put my plans of S2000 ownership on the backburner until Autumn. I need a car with a boot as well to put kite surfing gear in. I'm after a reliable mile mucher than also excites and I've allways quite liked them. Anyone here owned one? How do they compare to a VR6 ownership.
  8. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... escription Just wondering if this is a one off or common. My mum has just bought a Audi convertible which has a 2.0 turbo engine and I think this is the same block shared with other VAG cars.
  9. I've just tried to buy tax for my bike. Got all the way to the end and it's rejected both my VISA debit card and VISA credit card. Looks like they don't support that standard  Bit of an oversight really  I don't have anything else!

  12. Scuse me.. can I but in and ask what sort of MPG do you get out of the 200SX? I'm mostly interested in motorway mileage on a standard spec car. I'm looking for a replacement for my VR6 and the 200SX is ticking a few boxes for me. I used to have a Sunny GTiR but I got rid of it as it did 18-22mpg everywhere.
  13. I'm sure it was the pigs in Orwells animal farm that said "everyone is equal, except some are more equal than others.." Strangely ironic
  14. Fair point.. I really don't know much about them. I though the Brabus badge was like Cosworth for fords rather than just a cosmetic outfit. A mini people carrier with a HUGE engine sounds like fun to me but if it's all show and no go then not worth it I guess..
  15. I've just googled the Brabus smart roadster and I admit it is quite cool. However it doesn't work for me as concept. It's almost as long as a full size car so you can't park it sideways. There's very limited storage so it's not practical. It's not desperately fast (i imagine) so it's not a sports car. Can't see the benefit over a Brabus smart car. This is where the A class comes in..
  16. Sh*t mate my heart was going BOOM BOOM BOOM reading that as well.. was it the hose going from the block to the heater matrix? I think they're prone to failure due to their location and the heat. Glad you got it sorted relatively easily :) I'm going to stop lurking here.. it's bad for my health...
  17. Hi guys.. still missing my VR6. I've missed out on a couple of S2000 and I've decided to put my S2000 plans on hold for a while. The price of softtops has gone up and as I spend some time in London I don't want the hastle of vandals. I plan on buying one in the autumn and sticking a hard top on. I've been looking at cars which fit the following profile; No image problems Low depreciation Fun to drive (read doesn't need to be top performance just good) Relatively low maintenance Q car appeal. I've been thinking Audi S3's, and now I've thought about the Brabus A class. I can't find much about the spec so wondered if anyone on here knew anything about them. I know nothing at all about mercs. The A class has always looked cool to me though. The brabus badge must add the grin factor. What doyou guys reckon? Cheers.
  18. I looked at that and considered it for a while. It's only got half leather seats though as it's a JDM car. Not sure I'd be happy if the VGS failed either.. Looks sweet though but I'm gonna get a UK spec car ;)
  19. They're a british company. They make quite high quality bike exhausts. They're not the very best like Ackropovic but they are quite good quality. I don't know about the car range but may be of some help.
  20. GTFCTIM, quick question but how do I post on the S2ki forum? Do I need to pay? I only want to PM someone who has a car for sale. I've emailed the mods but no responce yet.. Thanks!
  21. until you get to a corner . . . and the tatty old black corrado wooshes off into the sunset ;) Which is where a supermoto comes in.. humbles R1's and Corrados and S2000s in the corners (but sadly not on the straight bits..) Anyway - I've driven high reving engines and lazy V6's and I think on the whole I prefer the experience of having to be more involved. It's more rewarding. I've not driven an S2000 yet but hope its' all I've built it up to be. I've never had a RWD car before either so I can learn new skills. For me the corrado was a car that could be driven fast VERY easily though. Also it's milemunching abilty is better than almost any car I've driven before. I will defintely miss it :(
  22. http://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=104897 Without wanting to start a flame war thought this might be of interest. Seems like a lot of love there! Cant post yet though
  23. My VTi CRX never needed topped up and never skipped a beat. It was not far off the pace of my friends VR6 Golf highline either. Great car. The speed sensor failed (mechanical) which stopped the VTEC working and was a pain to replace as it was a JDM part but other than that the car was superb. I think VTEC engines are something you love or hate. I remember on my test drive feeling ill as the guy reved past 5k. It just seemed unnatural and I like the Jekyl and Hyde type power delivery. It's like a pootling car and a race car in one. Kev - I see your point about getting attention. I would compare the S2000 to the boxter or the Z3 and I think those cars do have an image. Z3 - Womans car Boxter - not a 911  S2000 - erm.. nice lines! (I do actually like boxters but would not like running costs, depreciation etc..)
  24. The M3 doesn't do anything for me. I'm not actually looking for a convertible. The fact that the S2000 has a drop top is just a bonus. I will be getting a hard top for the winter months though. I was considering the M3 some time ago and I've decided against one. i can't get over the image and the service bills. I don't need out and out performance. To be honest a 328 would probably be enough. I just want a good well balanced car which will be fun to drive for me, not cost a bomb to run or maintain and not depreciate like a stone. I also quite like the S2000's 'grey man' image. I don't need to draw attention to myself when I'm driving. Thats partly what I like about the corrado. PS - I know there's M3 in hardtop form available
  25. Cheers guys - Porche - I know they're good cars but not interested in service costs or depreciation Alfa - not my thing. I want reliabilty and again.. low depreciation Mercs - erm.. really not my thing and probably out of budget.... and erm... depreciation! Vx220 - I did consider this but I just prefer the looks of the Lotus. The lotus is pretty much out the running now. I'm pretty much set on the S2000. I need to test drive one and see how I get on with the engine. I used to have a Honda Crx VTi (1.6 160hp VTEC) and loved the driving experience. I also love driving the VR6 but I find thrashing the engine more challenging and rewarding.
