if you are losing compression then a new HG would help regain it and should give you a boost. what you tend to find is once yuo are used to the car you get used to the speed. i remember wheni first got my G60 it felt rapid. now it feels kinda sluggish even though its probly quicker than when i bought it.

has 2 settings dunt if for boot. with locking or without. depends which position its in. id pop the panel off the back n watch what happens. problems shouls be pretty apparent.
-
thermostat is in waterpump. not sure how big a job thermo is but a water pump change is quite a biggie. im doing it this weekend. tis alt, charger,PAS pump off/out of way for a starters

what you got? check blue temp semsor. on G60 swap blue to black. there are 2 switches on top of thewater pipe going to the rad. swap the connectors over n try it. if it runs ok then the blue needs replacing.

whats wrong with it. i have problems with my boot lock from time to time. its the lever on the central locking arm sticking in the plunger. it can clearly be seen from the inside . take the cover off. if its the same problem as mine then the bbot lock wont open and you get a clunk noise from it on opening with locking sometimes. you have to manually move the plunger by hand when pressing the arm button so you are basically giving it a helping hand to work. after that itll work fine again and you will be able to use the lock from the outside.

yes. i had to do this when i changed my clutch slave as it wasn't selecting properly. what i have found is that it never quite goes back as it was originally.
-
h-brake on, first gear, get a mate to watch the engine. lift clutch as if to set off. if engine moves loads change mount. id use std others n a uprated front.
-
on the linkage on gearbox where the cables attach. our gearboxes are v notchy on the linkage. try it with your hand. it goes up n down on a kinda stepper. different when its a changing problem like worse when warm. id check the fluid levels on the box. may as well change it while your there. throw a tube of moly-slip in there with some synthetic gearbox oil n see whats-what. ive heard that 50-50 mixes of gear oil are ok too. anyone else on gearbox oil choice.

sounds like a warped disc or damaged pad. i had issues like this with green stuff pads a while back. i changed discs n pads to green and new discs n warped the discs in no time. i put turbo grooves on and the wobbled in about 3 months. i changed the pads to std ate while i evaluated the sitch n it was fine ever since. thing that cause or to avoid. green stuff pads-the retain too much heat after use and warp. holding down brake pedal after a thrash the discs i use are EBC turbo groove. v v expensive, seem quite good but couldn't justify cost again. what happens is the pad takes up lots of heat and retains it for a while. when you stop the heat from the pads heats one area and warps the disc. holding pedal down after thrash makes the heating worse.

If i were doing a head id get. 1. new head bolts. 2. check all water connections. replace any o-rings as they turn to mush. 3. cam chain for valve. 4. usual cam belts and that. 5. new hex bolts for water pump and crank pulley.

volkspeed. 90 quid. tis v good. try A Mk2 solid mount on there believe they are quite good n cheep. if its for a 16v it will be good

thats a good point. the company car sector. the G60 ltd was a wolf in sheeps. nowadays though ther company car sector is bigger than private in that price bracket. good marketing maybe(if there is such a thing as a good marketeer)
-
get some spray grease n lube it a bit. not WD40 or that type as the dry out
-
the old fast production golf the G60 LTD was a 5 door. 210hp 4x4. bet thatud give a R32 a v good run for its money but yes why?
-
yeh nice car heres one of my inters piccies of it.
-
here are some of the pictures that jim supplied as i forgot my camera. cheers Jim. was a good day had by all with diverse weather conditions to boot. theres more when i got some more time. it did piss down which spoiled more picture chances but..theres always a next time.
-
sounds good. longish drive but car could probly do with one of those.
-
get a U-bend off the golf. tis the best version to use for front mount. i used the original plastic boost tubes cut up. what you find is if you use the hose from plastic box to IC in pipe and some on the IC to TB boost tube you can create the same shape hose as the golf uses. gotta clear that gearbox linkage. heatsoak on piping isn't much of a issue. IC heatsoak is though. the air passes thru the pipes that quick that it doesan't have time to absorb heat

v expensive. quite a few post on insurance quotes about. give um a read. think the Valve is a 16, G60 17-18, VR6 19. could be wrong. area dependent really too.
-
NW meet would be good. think scott or sombody else mentioned trafford centre. there were lots of nice cars there. esp MK1s have to say that all toses silver beetles around the tree was a good'n too.
-
id check blue and black temp switches. clean all the crap off them. this willhelp give a better reading. remove radiator and jet wash it. inside and out. mine threw out brown/black water for a few minutes. a lot better now(when waters in there)
-
how did you get on scott. I spoke to a couple of corrado club peeps. 8) most didn't seem very talkative though. :( was a good turn out on your lots behalf too. shame they(VWNW) didn't give us all more room. i got my application form from the corrado club tent. would be nice to build a few bridges between the two groups as i expect some are members of both like scott. A big joint effort for next year would be nice although i know andi like to keep this seperate from the corrado club. hey hey saves £3.80 too :D
