  1. did my mates 16v golf last week. was whining a bit n a tad notchy. 2l and a tube of molyslip later n the box is v good. 17mm for the hex on that one
  2. mine did. the spring mount caught into the side of the wheel/tyre. if yours are clear thats good but mine weren't.
  3. yes fits fine. needs a 5-10mm spacer on rear with coilovers

  5. i got a chip n that awaiting red tops. been out in a red topped car n liked it n thats why im going that way. got sporadic cycling AF at the momnet so not sure when its going in. couple of things to check n then.
  6. probly time for new strips eh. been 30k since stg 4. thats at redline 6300 int it. only managed to see to 5300. whats a 1k rpm worth-0.1bar. that would put me around 1650-1700 may have it cracked open n new strips put in anyway.
  7. ill post some pics when i can take some. gotta get to my dads digicam. charger is jabba stg 4. the end tanks are only small. running a ubend which are 3 inch with 2 inch ic pipes using reducers to make the 3-2 and 2-2.25 for TB. i may have a boost leak so dont hold me to that. i can hear a whistle every now n again when i get on it. gonna check the idle screw n maybe double clip the CO_pot. the core is 600x150x45 n the full kit has been thrown together for about 200 quid. think me fitting a new throttle cable has smoothed things out a little. making it feel flat. mind tricks i hope. darren if you are at york ill be there. you can have a look at it there. dont laugh as its still in phase 1 and need a couple of mods. have seen 1550 on the mfa for boost. tend to look at the road after this point n not at the mfa. thats at around 5300 with std car. whats that equate to anyone. that was in 29 degree heat too.

  9. i just put a front mount on. think the gases are being "lost " in the cooler and a pressure drop. seems to be a tad flat till 4-4.5k then all hell breaks loose. deffo faster at that point in the rev range. got a 65mm n sns stuff waiting for injectors. should sort the problem. if you read vortex then youll see that the yanks are a tad ahead of us with there theories. some might say they are crazy but considering the tuning they have done not too many blow. i went 65 as i want more low down than up top. dont like screwing it even on std stuff let alone with a 65. 5.5k gear changes for me i think.
  10. i may be do. gonna go to tatton on the 10th but thats usually charity shield day too so tis tatton in morning and footy for the arvo. may give the footie a miss this year if its same day
  11. supersports are ok. they are stiffer than standard and provide good handling. there are lots of bumpy roads around heree too but in general they handle um good. pretty sure they are TUV so think that would make a 5 yr warranty. engine mounts do paly a big part too as does top mounts. id get top mounts at the same time as suspension. dont wind it down too far n yhoull be ok.
  12. next time you are on the road look at the patchwork state of the road. in my area you probly cannot drive a cars length without a change or break in surface. the pennine roads are the best i have around n they are good but eve thoses are getting rutted and potholed. maybe due to the colder climate up here causing freeze-thaw. when you do get a good bit on a new road tis like a skid pan as soon as a few drops fall on it.

  14. ive only had um for around 10 months. i run fairly low with 17" and run on probly the worst roads in england. i remember going to inters and thinking that stuff would last 3 x as long down south. no where near the same potholes. my mate has 1200 quid coilovers on his impreza and has a front one leaking too so goes to show about our roads.
  15. im running supersport coilovers. they are a nice ride and handle good and are cheap. I have just hit my first problem with um though. leaky damper at the front. i heard lots of reports on AVO for leaky dampers. Good news is that venom said send just the damper back and with a 2 day turn around they would get me a new one.
  16. ive tried a few airbox mods and am yet to get induction kit response. the induction kit noise is on the loud side but response-except in hot weather. run the airbox then.

  18. mine does similar. itll move around on the road followingh hte contours of the road. i have new top mounts n coilovers and run 17" wheels. the car feels a lot better than before but i think i need the following. bushes-get the odd clucking noise n i have had cars with poly before n know the difference. steering rack bushes. rach can bounce from time to time on v rough terrain. ball joints-it wanders around not being too presice not sure what else. car handles great but i think it can be even better. check engine mounts first though for movement. i replaced mine with a uprated volkspeed one n its good. think the engine mounts help take the strain too. when you replace the front if yours aint great the other things seem more apparent.
  19. bout 158 at the flywheel a std g60. probly around 130 at the wheels. expect 160-180 at the whhels id say. dyno on a hot day n youll probly see std power figures but on the road...

    and get rid of boost leaks. tis a good oil collector though. turn it into a catch can
  22. get a volkspeed one. no movement n save damage to other things like o2 hgarness and radiator (wonder why i know this)
  23. dont mean the calipers. i mean i wouldn't pay 15k for it. however nice it may be. thats s4 cash
