  1. Most G60's are almost 20yr old now  At least Jabba are sorting it out for him. Despite all the horror stories spread around, I've always had excelent service from them. It might even be my old engine getting fitted 8)
  2. Is the Audi TT grey called Nimbus or something? I think a C would look cool in that colour 8)
  3. Video mines at 1:46
  4. I'm quite impressed by the cloud too, the vido on youtube is even funnier  (search: Lincs Driver Rolling Road) I have a set of NGK's on order now, and when they turn up it'll be going back for a full diagnosis.
  5. Looking good, how far off completion do you think you are?
  6. erm..at the moment it diesnt, the tacho doesnt work! It has an interface box, but where this signal comes from is unknown to me! perhaps Simon knows
  7. thats no worries then, I'll call james tomorrow and see what he has (if not Jabba might have one as the car was mapped when james fitted it) Yep, my running problem turns out to be knackered spark plugs. there's no spark on boost now, and the big blue cloud was when it was diagnosed on the rollers!
  8. I think I'll stick some 8mm ones on, if nothing else they look nice  Do you have the haltch software and lead?
  9. yer I'll get them swapped and mapped. They were saying it might be worth putting on some 8mm leads. having read up on here though, i cant see them being a benifit.
  10. I know :notworthy: :notworthy: it only went to 4k befor the real problems started but it missed all the time it was in boost. Going to change the leads as well. Are they standard G60 leads with the wasted spark set up?
  11. I've just checked the number on the plugs that are fitted, they are G60 one, that James has fitted when the engine was installed. I know James took the car to Jabba for mapping, so this must have been for my exhaust and intercooler set up. The afr probe at the RR showed that the car was lean slightly, and I'm going to fit a gauge into my car to monitor this. But I dont think it has been mapped for the full boost range.
  12. james must have fitted the G40 plugs, I know they were changed when the engine. I thought it had been mapped to when when it was fitted. Check out my build thread for the bhp figure and an action shot :norty: Edit: I've just checked the part number and they are standard G60 plugs (WR6DPO). Either way, they are fooked
  13. Quality, I bet you cant wait
  14. Seems like the issue is the spark plugs. Diagnosed this morning at a RR day with my local club. And I made a massive...........180bhp :( before we called the run off. Before backfire: 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfDSCF3647.jpg[/attachment:jwtqu5ue] After: DSCF3648.jpg[/attachment:jwtqu5ue]
  15. Looks like the G40 plugs are up to it, went to a RR day today at Corten Miller and they've diagnosed the problem as ignition related instead of fuelling. They've ordered me a set of NGK platinum. The map isnt quiet right so at boost it's leaning slightly and knackering the plugs. Be having a trip back at some point to have a proper RR done :?
  16. Yeah :D So long as it's a Zinger. Not a fan bargain buckets of skanky wings n things :pukeright: And beans? [Cue my best Phil Kay "Garlic and Bread" impression] Chicken.... and beans?! WTF?! People rave on about their Gravy too, but to me it's tasteless brown water thickened with corn flour. You think chicken and beans is crazy, in the States you can get Mash potatoes in KFC  KFC is the best. BK burgers are better than McD's, but the BK fries are shite
  17. Thanks Mark, I'll have to have a look at that, because I still have my old G60 in tank pump in use as the lifter pump. It seems to do it at all fuel levels though, but worth checking as I'm getting desperate! I hadn't thought of that, I'll try that too. Cheers mate.
  18. My car has recently developed an intermittant running problem. Basically, I can be driving along fine one second and the next thing he car goes very hesitant, popping and back firing. this comes and goes at random. I've changed the fuel filter and lambda probe, and have cleaned the plugs up. I'm running a 16v fuel pump and have noticed that it's fairly noisey. Could this be on it's way out, and cause the random problem, or would it just fail completely? Boost leaks have been mentioned but I would have though this would be permanant problem? any help would be great  cheers Slim
  19. Regardless of cost, I need to run on the good stuff. Although when the weather gets better, I'll run to work (10 miles :gag: )
  20. Or hammer a socket onto the locking wheel nut.
  21. I'll have to have a good check round for a boost leak, I've had a look as I've just finished work but couldn't see or feel anything. Is there any better way for checking other than looking/feeling around? It happens at all throttle positions really, and really is completely random, and all all boost settings. It just goes hesitant, and starts popping and back firing. Would the N75 valve cause this? The only thing I've noticed is that the 16v fuel pump sounds a little noisey, although I dont know how quiet they are as standard. I have a G Werks front mount which is still pretty solid so hopefully Think it'll have to go to James, I'll give him a call tomorrow and see if he can fit it in.
  22. Cheers Simon, I'll give them a check. Wouldnt a boost leak cause this issue all the time? The problem I have is that it's really interemittant :brickwall: Might give James a call, see if he know where to get hold of replacement Haltec sensors as he uses the same management in his Golf I think, and by having a read on here, sounds like it could be what would be the Blue temp sensor, albeit the haltec replacement.
  23. Possibly, I live just up the road in Nocton. Are you from round here? I'll have to have a look, it's just the fact it's so intermittant. I would have thought an air leak would have been permenant?
  24. Cool, I'll have to check. Changed the lambda today and whilst it is better, there is still an intermittant hesitation and popping and there is a hissing sound from round the throttle body area so need to investigate that. The spark plugs look fine, were a little sooted up but gave them a clean. Need this fixed as It's less than a week now until my first rolling road.
  25. Cool, I'll give them a check. Probably need checking as it's been overfuelling like a mofo so they'll be sooted up I would imagine.
