  1. This is probably very obvious but here goes. I'm trying to flush the coolant, replace the thermostat and refill the coolant. I've read all the threads on here about the subject, but I'm stuck on getting access to the thermostat housing. There are sensors just above the housing, and a plastic cover over the sensors. I cannot remove this cover. It is loose and feels like it will pull out, but doesn't appear to. I don't want to start yanking too hard incase I break something. There is also no cover shown in the Bentley manual.... Anyone got any tips? Cheers
  2. I had the same problem on my MK2 Golf. I assume its a similar/same part. I'll have to check the C soon to make sure the pedal aint gonna do a dissapearing act.
  3. I'm 22, paying £1080 for a Storm using Elephant's 10 Month bonus accelerator (I have no no claims bonus as I used to be under my Mum's insurance), but I have a clean license. I was pretty chuffed with the price, was expecting it to be worse.
  4. Happy Birthday aposegil. It's mine too ! :)

Sounds like I have the same problem. Does it sounds a bit like a creaking door? Dunno how else to describe it. I might try and make a recording of it at the weekend.
  6. I've got a Storm with red shocks at the back. Other people have reported the same aswell, I think it was the only towards the end of production that the used red. Nothing to worry about :)
  7. Not sure about 60, but 80 is about 3200rpm on my VR6. I've always though it is a bit high for a relatively large capacity engine....
  8. Bally - I'm sure I saw you on the M25 this afternoon around the St Albans area. Would have been about 15:45. Was it you? Looked nice 8) P.S. was in my company car - a Laguna
  9. The tax disk was up there when I bought the car. I think it's technically illegal :? but i haven't got round to moving it yet. It's a good location though, its behind the rear view mirror so doesn't block the view.
  10. Thanks for the part number. I have done a temporary repair for now and will get a new hose for next weekend. I used some Halfords hose sealing tape - worked very well. I'd recommend packing some if going on a long journey! dr_mat - It is surprising how many low milage VR's are around isn't it? The person I bought mine from had the Corrado as a second car. I guess if you could afford to spend £22,000ish on a new and relatively impractical car then you'd also have something more boring and practical to go with it.....
  11. Took a couple more pics this afternoon....

Received my membership on Fri 14th, membership number 2354. Seems to be quite a few new members if your 2357....
  13. Cheers for the help guys. It's only a slight split. I occasionally find a bit of steam rising from the bonnet. Thinking about it now it happens just after giving it a bit of stick - the rocking motion of the engine is probably enough to pull the hose enough for some water to leak onto the hot engine. It has 50k miles on it, are the engine mounts likely to be shot after such little millage?
  14. I've got a split in this hose on my VR6. Can anyone tell me the part number for it? And also maybe what it does? (I guess it's for the heater..?) I took it to German & Swedish to see if they had a replacement but they closed at 16:00 (I got there at 16:01  ) Looks like I'll have to do a repair on the hose (it's only a small leak) and get it sorted next weekend unless I can find somewhere open on a Sunday.
  15. Isnt the current VW V6 (offered in the Golf/Passat etc) just the VR6 bottom end with a 24V cylinder head?
  16. I tried my Newer Sony head unit and the sound quality is much better. Still not great but a vast improvement. Next step will be to replace the speakers.
  17. On my way to the pub tonight I saw a C parked on a drive, I've seen it a couple of times before and it always looks clean. It was a dark (possibly blue) N reg, think it was a VR6 but couldn't see the badge. It was in Stoneleigh, Surrey. I won't give the road name....
  18. dr_mat - Cheers for the quick reply. I was beginning to get a bit worried as it didn't quite add up - full VW service history and red rear shocks :? I can sleep in peace now (i'm sure the 6 pints will help aswell) :)
  19. A bit of background.....I bought a Storm last week. As far as I could tell it was 100% standard (including original Sony radio/CD player). The car has a full VW service history. While checking the tyre pressures tonight I noticed that underneath the dirt the rear shocks were red! I then checked the fronts and could not see any red shocks - but obviously things get dirtier at the front. The ride height is standard and the ride quality does not feel too harsh... So my question is have the rear shocks been replaced with something non-standard? I'm sure the original shocks were not red, would VW have replaced them with red shocks? Anyone know what they could be? I'm going to investigate further tomorrow to try and find any part numbers/manufacturers. And also clean the front shocks to see if there is any red underneath.

    Storm Value

I paid £8.3k for my storm with 50,000 miles. I wasn't particularly looking for a Storm (but would have prefered one). I just wanted a VR6 with leather, aircon, and relatively low milage. It just so happened that a Storm fitted the bill :D See: http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=4795
  21. Cheers for all the comments. vr6storm - I like the non-4x4 look :D. Whats the ride like with Koni's? Is it any harsher than standard? I've had a play with the radio tonight and got it to sound marginally better. I've got a newer Sony head unit/CD changer from my old MK2 Golf (which i'm selling) so i'm going to swap that over next weekend to see how it sounds.
  22. Saw a purple C this afternoon with a nice set of alloys going the opposite way to me along London Road, between Tolworth and Epsom. The driver flashed me, but by I didn't have time to flash back (I did wave though :D). P.S. See this thread for me info on my Corrado: http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=4795
  23. After about 7 years of wanting a Corrado I've finally got one! And i'm as happy as a pig in sh*t! I started looking seriously a 3-4 months ago and picked mine up on Saturday. I've got a classic green Storm with 50,000 miles and air-con (I was particularly looking for air-con - which made the choice v.limited). The C is 100% standard, it even has the original Sony radio. It's in great condition, except for the wheels which are corroded (can anyone recommend a company for refurbishing?) The Sony CD player/radio sounds really bad! It's very tinny with no bass, can anyone confirm if it is meant to be that bad? I haven't been listening to it though - i've been too busy listening to the engine :D I am amazed by the performance and handling!! I'm thinking of booking a track day sometime to see what it can really do....
