  1. When i bought my Leon they had EBC discs all round. The fronts warped a couple of months after i had the car. I replaced the fronts which solved it. Now the rears are warped, thankfully it is not so noticable on the rear. Certainly won't be buying EBC in future!
  2. Ooh, there must be another M*** CBP Corrado rolling around. Hope the *** are diferent to mine!
  3. Same with me and the Leon 1.8T. It's a good car - handles ok and goes really well but it doesn't excite or feel special like the Rado does.
  4. Thanks Supercharged, don't suppose you have the part numbers for the lock housing, bearing and spring?
  5. Sorry to resurrect an old thread. My steering is not what it used to be and I'm getting a clicking/clonking from the top UJ of the column. Does anyone know if the replacement procedure is identical if a fixed Corrado column is used rather than a Polo column? Are the part requirements the same other than the column itself? As the cost of a new fixed column from the dealers isn't too bad I was thinking of buying new. Presumably I'd need to buy the the larger spring also?
  6. Here's one from a couple of years ago...dsc_0014.jpg[/attachment:2as4uh68]
  7. Check out some of the videos on hornblasters.com :) So childish, but so funny :) There was something in my local paper about this scheme, although I haven't seen any yet. Regardless of the police not giving points to speeding offenders, I really hope they require solid data to back up the 'speed watchers' claims! Otherwise its open to abuse. e.g. 'his exhaust was loud - he must have been speeding'! I can't see it lasting long, and I'm amazed it's allowed. There's bound to be an incident sooner or later between a 'speed watcher' and an angry motorist - that should halt the scheme.
  8. I've got a Miltek and I'm very happy with it. I can't compare it to anything other than standard, but it sounds better than the stock exhaust.
  9. I know there is some confusion about the early/late accelerator cables on the VR6. They were apparently changed over in 1995, but the chassis number on the VW parts system does not seem right, I have seen another post saying the same. My chassis number (SK002) was not listed for either cable. In then end I ordered both cables with the agreement I could return the wrong one. As i have both early and late cables, I have grabbed a couple of pictures. The part numbers are 536-721-555A and 536-721-555E. A is the early cable, E is the late. The difference is on the pedal end... Each cable was £32.47  Hope it helps someone else...
  10. No problem Chris, thanks for keeping me up to date as much as possible from your side. The coil pack is fitted and working well.
  11. Fitted a new coil pack (cheers Chris!), adjusted the throttle cable, replaced a couple of rusted screws under the bonnet and gave the engine bay a quick clean. Went for a test drive and it seemed more eager! Not sure if it was the coil pack, throttle cable or placebo!
  12. This is the charger I have. It is not hard-wired on the panel end, so you can just unplug it when you aren't using it.
  13. Yep, I've got one. It has a plug to change from cigarette lighter socket to clamps to connect directly to the battery. If I remember correctly it doesn't work through the cigarette lighter socket, so I always connect it to the battery. Works a treat though. It is waterproof, but i put it in a clear food bag for a bit more peace of mind. I can't remember the make or where I bought it from but will take a look. I have the C in the garage now, so I need to extend the cable and find somewhere outside for the panel.
  14. Ok, here is a scan from Brussels Airlines Magazine...... SN Corrado Scan.jpg[/attachment:198k7fn4]
  15. The writer was Lisa Curtiss, obviously UK based as she refers to the Storm. I'll get it scanned in this afternoon or tomorrow
  16. I flew to BRU this morning (now waiting for my flight home) and found a small review on the new Scirocco in the Brussels Airlines inflight mag. There is mention of the Corrado in the review. Basically the writer said he/she is a fan of the Corrado and has had various G60's and a Storm over the years. The writer said this was a testament to the Raddo as he/she has access to lots of good cars for review purposes but chooses to pay for a Corrado (something along those lines anyway). I picked up a copy of the mag, so can scan it and post if the mods are alright with that?
  17. Ouch! Hope it's not too expensive. Where abouts are you in W.Sussex? I'm in Worth....
  18. Mine has been a second car for about a year now. I enjoy it much more as a weekend car rather than a daily driver. I remember a few years ago going to work on the M25 and there were 2 other Corrado's so we started a mini-convoy :)
  19. Yes, I'll try and dig out a few more recent pics. It is Davia aircon. It hasn't worked for a couple of years now....I just haven't got round to fixing it! I remember there was a bit of a leak before it stopped working. I imagine quite a few seals hoses may have perished over the years so I'm going to save a few pennies before I get it looked at.
  20. I thought it was about time I updated this page! So here's whats changed over the last couple of years! - I had loads of issues with water pumps! I'm on my 3rd or maybe 4th now! A certain garage (no names mentioned) seemed to be fitting it incorrectly and the new pump would start leaking after a few hundred or thousand miles! The current water pump was fitted by the Phirm and has been fine for about a year now :) - The original exhaust was on its last legs so I had it replaced with a Miltek - very pleased with it. - New suspension bushes - The engine started running hot which turned out to be the head gasket. - It has new timing chains, tensioners and clutch - Wheels have been refurbished - As the original discs and pads were worn I had 288mm Golf brakes fitted upfront. They have only been on the car for 2 days so not bedded in yet. Thats about all the big jobs - lots of minor things like coolant hoses & thermostats. Mechanically the car is in great condition, it sailed through its MOT last week. There are still loads of things I need to get done though! To Do List: -Get the bodywork sorted - I have stonechips, dents and a couple of scratches -Get a decent alarm fitted -Fix the aircon, it hasn't worked for a few years now!
  21. Kur2y, Could you out me down for a 3 relay loom please? Many thanks!!
  22. I got a set of Vredestein Sportrac 3's in 205/50/15 a few months ago. There isn't much choice of performance tyres in 15" sizes these days! I changed from Toyo Proxes T1-R's and prefer the Vredestein's. They feel a little more grippy in the dry with a bit more feel and seem much better in the wet. I haven't pushed them too much, but they seem progressive on the limit. I can't really comment on the wear yet as I haven't done enough mileage on them.
  23. Got to agree with the comments on the looks. It's not bad, but it still looks like a Golf. But knowing how conservative VW are now it will probably drive similar to a Golf GTI - which is not a bad thing at all. But why spend the extra money on the IROC when it will drive pretty much like a Golf with less practicality. I know the same can be said about the Corrado (a Golf with less practicality) but at least it looks and drives different to the Golf of its age! I think maybe VW didn't create something too OTT or over specced otherwise it would take sales away from the TT.....
  24. Andy, Can you put me on the list for a plug & play please.
