HELP NEEDED!! From all those that have fitted Infinity 6x4's
Dan_Storm replied to Blue_Joe's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
I found using a dremel good for cutting back the plastic.......not nice fumes though. -
I have the same problem - in fourth. I think I have heard someone else mentioning the same aswell. I've got used to it now and don't worry about it....

I live near Epsom and work at Heathrow.

That sounds great! A VR for 6 months then a G60 for the next 6. You lucky git!

Last Thursday on my way to Reading festival I saw 2 C's. First was clockwise round the M25 near Heathrow. The C had a German looking no. plate. We went almost in convoy down the M4 when another C shot past on the outside lane. Both were black...i think both were debadged but my memory is a bit hazy after Reading :? It ended up with 3 Corrado's in Convoy. I think the 2 drivers knew each other as I could see them chatting once we reached the looong queues to get to the car parks.

Looks good 8) How does the 924 compare against the C for driving pleasure??

Spend most of yesterday cleaning and polishing. I used Autoglym Super Resin Polish followed by Extra Gloss Protection. Here's some more photos:

I've got aircon and don't use it as much as I thought I would. I much prefer to have the windows down and sunroof open to hear the engine note :) . Although it is great on the motorway or in wet weather to stop the windows misting. On a side note....when my aircon is turned-on the fan will come on at full speed every minute or so for 10 seconds. Is this normal? Does anyone else have the same?

I do think the chip was worth it - not cheap but I intend to keep the car for a long time.....or ever  About 2 or 3 weeks after the chip I got used to the extra power. It doesn't have the same grin factor as when I first drove it after the remap :( but still worth it in my opinion. Apart from the chip and ICE the rest of the car is completely standard. I was tempted to get some 17" rims but I got a couple of good comments and looks at GTI International because its standard looking storm. I'm not sure whether I should keep the Solitude wheels or go for something bigger. A set of 17" Solitude replicas would be great :D Anyone know of any wheels that look similar? Thanks for the offer on the paint job. I might have to look into it. I'm going to get a quote from someone I know locally first and go from there.

Torque before/after: 183.5 lb/ft @ 4235 203.2 lb/ft @ 4366 BHP before/after: 191.4 bhp @ 5785 206.5 bhp @ 5706 Cost for the ECU remapping was 350+VAT. I also had a service and the top mounts replaced while I was there. I've got quite a few stone chips on the front of the bonnet/bumper and a couple of small dents/scratches. Nothing serious but just a general tidy-up like your after. I haven't got any quotes yet. I'd be interested to hear what your quote is like...

Quick update: The car has now been chipped by AMD - very impressed. It runs smoother and is more responsive. Just a shame I've got used to the extra grunt.. I've also got Infinity speakers all round (components up front) and a Infinity Basslink in the boot. Its a nice little setup and sounds so much better than the standard system. Next on the list is to lower it slightly to remove the 4x4 look and to get the paint work touched-up.

Got my storm remapped at AMD last Friday. Here are the figures: BHP: Before - 191.4@5785 After - 206.5@5706 Torque: Before - 183.5 @ 4235 After - 203.2@4366 Feels a lot nicer to drive now :)

Can see the funny side now - thats why I posted the pic. I wasn't too amused scrubbing it off though :x I think he'd had a vindaloo the night before!! Luckily no damage was done.

Made the mistake of parking under a tree recently. Little did I know that 'Big Bird' lived in the tree. Here is the result

On the way back from Inters I got an average of just under 34 mpg :) Its better than I'm used to (but I was feeling ill and not driving too enthusiastically). I guess the run up to Inters may have given the engine a nice workout. I usually do the daily commute to Heathrow and back (30 miles of rush hour traffic).

Spotted a Red C this afternoon at about 5ish heading from Weybridge to the A3. I was a few cars behind, then got stopped at some lights before the A3 and lost sight... Couldn't see what model it was, but it was red, lowered with a tasty looking set of alloys. Looked sweet 8) May have been chris CORRADO??

V.Nice :) A set of 21" rims would look amazing

Was on the M25 this morning at about 8:15ish and there was a C behind me and a C next to me in the outside lane We kept in close formation (behind/next to each other) for a couple of junctions (about 12-14). Must have looked like we were in convoy!! One of the C's was a grey 16V, the other I think was black or v.dark blue, there was not a model badge on it but judging from the wheels I think it was an 8V. They both looked v.tidy and unmodified. I was going to flash or put my hazards on but I didn't want to look like a prat if it wasn't someone from the forum  Was it anyone on here??

I'm in Epsom, just down the A3. Let me know if you want to meet up sometime. Just remembered we spotted each other a few months ago! Posted in Corrado Spotting - Nov.

corradovr6sc - Can you tell me which Bosch dealer you got it from? I've been getting quotes and the cheapest I've found is £213 from a mate of a mate who works for a Bosch dealer. I'll also try resetting the fault code and see how long it takes for the fault to come back.
-
I got my Vag-com delivered today, the only fault code it found was: So at least I know the MAF is dead...... If anyone in the Surrey area wants a read-out on Vag-com sometime give me a shout. I don't think its 100% conclusive at detecting dead MAF's (according to other posts on here). Guess I was just lucky

I've also been looking around at MAF prices for VW part# 021 906 462 / Bosch part# 0 280 217 504, here's what I found: VW dealer: £333 (I thought this was inc. VAT but I can't be sure as I left the info at work) Eurocarparts: £235 +VAT / £276 inc.VAT GSFCarParts: Here is their email: Which works out at: Genuine: £288 inc.VAT Bosch: 217 in.VAT Friend of a friend who sells Bosch parts: £213 inc.VAT + Blitz He also said that there were none of these parts in the country, this added an extra £25 for what Bosch call a 'Blitz' delivery! Also found this site in the US. Part number 021906462 is $360.84 (£198) Part number 021906462A is $260.69 (£143) I don't know what the difference is with the 'A' in the part number.....apart from 50 quid :) I couldn't find any mention of International delivery on the site. The order form is for US only. I've recently ordered a Vag-com, so i'm waiting to get that first. If i'm lucky it may confirm that my MAF is dead (I know its not a conclusive test but i wanted a Vag-com anyway cuz i'm into gadgets :D)

Supercharged - Yes the car was well up to temp as the fan was coming on intermittently. The only other problem I can think of is high idling (1200ish) after coming to a standstill, it returns to normal after a second or 2. It has only happened on a handful of occasions though. Cheers for the help.

My C seems to be running fine, but I thought I'd try disconnecting the MFA this afternoon to confirm it was working. To my surprise there was no difference in the idle or drivability. I know that the ECU reverts to the trottle position sensor when the MFA dies. But my C seems to run ok apart from a slighly uneven idle (which I've just put down as the characteristic of the VR!). I haven't driven any other VR's so I can't compare it to anything. So my question is, can the VR feel ok to drive (e.g. no hesitating, not idling 'too' badly, not misfiring) and still have a dead MAF? I'm just wondering if i've been mising out on more power!

Removing sensor cover for access to thermostat
Dan_Storm replied to Dan_Storm's topic in Suppliers Forum
Worked it out. Removing the cover was simply a case of pulling it from either side while giving it a tug. After looking into it I don't know if i'm going to bother. Access to the thermostat housing is awful! Doesn't help with the extra space the air-con takes. I can get access to remove the 2 bolts furthest away from the engine, but the 3rd bolt (nearest the engine) has a tiny amount of clearance below it. I don't think i've got any tools (allen keys/allen key sockets) that will get in there.... Anyone who's done this got any tips or should I get a garage to do it.
