Ah right, I need to call to say if they can send it to me. Not going to be in the area for a while.

Got the vr6 back yday, first drive in it today. Not sure if I'm making it up but the clutch feels a lot smoother and less jerky so that's good. However my battery jacket has gone missing damn! Hopefully it's somewhere at the garage. :( Nice to have the VR back though was very much missing it!
-
Ah right, well that's good for you! Bad for me! Was quite interested obv depending on price! Yes fingers crossed we can get it Monday, only problem is distance, I work 8-6 so going to be a PITA to get it back. Let me know about the other VR, was interested in the supersprint aswell.

Just spoken with them, unfortunately they do not have the part so won't get it fixed until next week now. :( Yes I would say if you are getting a clutch changed for the sake of £10 would be worth thinking about getting it replaced. On the plus side though, they've mentioned that they have a VR going in to be broken, got some nice suspension on it. So might have a chat about that! Off to drink lots of beer now ( well cider in my case! )

Quick update, bit of a nightmare few days... Exhaust started rattling, Ross took a quick look at it and the end section had come loose, he initially thought it was the clamp had come loose. Retightened this and was all ok for a few miles, it then disconnected itself again. Ross had a more thorough look and saw that the bracket that held the mid section up had snapped. As we are new to the area, didn't really have a clue where to take it. I know work at a jag dealership, asked a few of the techs if they could weld and it wasn't something they were prepared to do. Had a look for a vw specialist, spoke to a few. When one asked if it was the new corrado?! I decided not to go there!! Haha. Ross eventually found a company called Autobarn, who had helpfully just moved premises to a 3 min walk from my work!! Had it booked in for yday to have the bracket re-welded. I hadn't driven it for a few days as I had been away. Went to reverse it off the driveway, put my foot on the clutch and there was the most god awful noise! Aghhh! Drove it carefully to the garage, he fixed the exhaust, checked over the car and advised that he thought it was the release bearing. Now this was only done 2 months ago and about 800 miles ago before i owned it in glos. Bugger! So nurse the car home, ring the garage that did the work, they will look at the car, however not prepared to pay for the work if we get someone to look at it here, whilst I understood this it was a complete pain in the arse as we are about 85miles away. We decided that the best bet would be to get the car recovered, so wait 45 mins for the tech to come out, yup def the release bearing. Given that 3 people in the garage and the rac guy all thought it was a part that had been changed recently we decided to get the vehicle recovered back to where it had been fixed. Soooo..... They managed to get the box out yday afternoon, turns out that it is not the clutch or the release bearing, but the release arm. Apparently this has fatigued and cracked. I'm a suspicious person and my first thought it surely this was on it way out when the clutch was replaced. However I've been assured that it's a coincidence. agreed that they can do the work only a £10 part, 3 hrs labour though. It's one of those situations that had we not taken it back there it would have been the clutch or release bearing and then I would be shelling out then! Oh well, got it in the neck all yday from Ross as it was meant to be our day off, from my family for buying another corrado!! Can't win! Got loads of chufties though, one frustrating day though. Hoping to pick it up this morning of they can get it fixed, otherwise off to the beer festival at earls court :)

Managed to get the VR insured for £449 with greenlight. I think this quite high considering I have 7 years ncb but was the cheapest by £100. Chris knott, Adrian flux didn't want to know as I hadn't had experience of driving the VR6, didn't even care that I had driven a corrado for 2 years! Don't feel like i've got amazing customer service from Greenlight but the money aspect was important.

Ah Jim as its you, I'll do a swap. I would say it's pretty near perfect has the metal bar etc. I can take some photos and send them to you if you like. There is a couple of small scrapes on the underneath. Are you going to National Day?
-
That's why it's been taken off, couldn't face scraping/breaking it. It's safely stowed away for now. :) Going to keep it and buy a smaller one.... When we move I might be able to have the 90mm one back on.

Well my 16v was rubbish on fuel, barely got 300 miles to a tank so it doesn't seem too bad to me at the moment. No cant do anything with the drive as the house is rented. For now we've just taken the splitter off as a temporary measure but will be getting the smaller splitter when funds allow. :)
-
I think your heart stopped then didn't it and you zoomed in on the pics just to make sure!! Lol Looks great though, how long till you get it back? call me naive but didn't think it would take this long for the work to be done... I would be champing at the bit to get it back :)
-
Well all my cars are male.... But yes I have my fingers crossed for a hassle free summer. I'm sure that it will be :) I just love it, so different to my early 16v but in a way the same if that makes sense?! Lol

There is a good buying guide on here, also points out the extra things you should look out for on a G60 (obviously to do with the charger) Good luck with finding a Corrado :)

Loving the VR6, that's all I have to say on this sunny Sunday.
-
Got home about 20mins ago. Loved the drive!! Toyed with a few BMW drivers. Def leaving it as it is for now. And won't go for bigger wheels! Might have to change the splitter :( can't get onto our drive even reversing on it still scrapes. :(

Well as some of you may have seen on Cazza's thread I have now purchased his VR6 (well collecting it tomorrow). This has happened as I sold the 16v, it just felt the right time to sell it, we were moving and having to go down to two cars so it was a bit unnerving not having the back up of a spare car with some of the issues that I had had with it. Anyway it sold a lot quicker than I thought it would, the guy that bought it was planning on respraying it and putting the time into it that it needed. So really pleased with that, he also local to where we now live so I might get to see it every now and then. I was lucky enough that when I sold the 16v my mum/brother own a MX5 as a little toy, so they have let me borrow that so I didn't rush into getting a car. Driving the MX5 when it's been nice made me think about getting an MX5 but they were so many sheds around for the £2k mark it was unbelievable, also it seemed that all the good ones were up in Scotland!? We were then toying with the idea of a Clio Sport, seemed to get quite a bit for the budget, but by chance saw the advert for Andy's VR6. Bit of umming and ahhing as it was well out of my budget. However luckily enough my other half has agreed to help me after selling his 200SX. He wanted more of a track toy but agreed that this was a really good purchase. Can't wait to pick it up..... no plans at the moment on what we are going to do. There has been some talk from Ross about a new exhaust and some wheels. But just the cost of the insurance will keep me from buying any shiny bits for it for the meantime.
-
Well it was one of those spur of the moment decisions! we've actually moved now to Basingstoke but we will be back up in ken every now and then. Sorry for the thread hijack andy!
-
Haha - yes he's got a very good poker face! But we're both really pleased with the purchase. :) Oh no I feel really bad for her.... but also glad I got there first  (very mean I know)
-
As of Friday Andy's VR6 will be mine! I'm dead chuffed as thought I would be out of the corrado scene for a bit. I'm also a bit dazed that I will own a VR6 after wanting one for so long. Cant wait for the drive back! :)
-
I was of the understanding that if you have a vehicle on the public highway regardless of how often it is driven then it has to be insured?
-
Hi all Having a bit of a clear out as we have moved house and now no longer have the corrado. Here is my listing for a Scorpion DTM Exhaust, no reserve and starting at 99p so get yourself a bargain. http://bit.ly/k8h5TW Thanks Laura

That's a shame jim about the valver. But I think you need to have deep pockets to keep to corrados on the road, house moves don't help do they! Lol I hope you find the love/money to get your valver back on the road! I sold Geoff on monday, first person who saw it bought him. I didn't expect it to go so quickly! Lol odd not having a corrado. So that's one less corrado in ken!

The Corrado's finest hour............quick- place your bets
lauraJ replied to jimpy66's topic in General Car Chat
haha!! thats what was in the back of my mind when I sold mine on Monday. I was literally holding my breath hoping it would start etc. It was all fine though and the new owner is planning a respray etc. So i'm pretty happy that it has gone to someone who has the time and money to spend on it! It's weird being corradoless :( -
Hahah yes agreed, however his attire is just the tip of the iceberg quite frankly! BBC need to get rid of him. When he wasn't at one of the races, he wasn't exactly missed! lol

I personally think that EJ needs to do one with his slacks and deck shoes! Fantastic race once it finally got going... this is what F1 should be about. Really pleased for Button, but there is a 50 odd point difference between Vettel and Button, can Vettel be caught?
