if its a different fit then go to the dealer and buy a mk3 gti anniversary one, identical half plastic half ali, then its mk3/corrado gear stick and mk3 ball so i'd have thought it'd fit no problem

Its a shame as its a better looking car but how does it compare to a 60k ish 8v mk3 gti? cos that surely is the closest rival in the vw classifieds, i thought last time i looked they were going for significantly less that 2.5k? one thing to bear in mind is that some corrado parts are a lot more expensive to replace and although you can get parts off broken and scrapped cars you need a buyer whos an enthusiast to do that!

Wayside Vw are the same in mk, went in to buy a mk5 gti, they didnt seem interested so i went straight to audi and bought the a3 - idiots!

This is true and i agree with you, But VW wouldnt have to hold the parts there are companies out there such as FPS distribution who specialise in holding stock for the motor factor groups, why couldnt they do this for the manufacturers too? industry is too divided between aftermarket and Dealers, end result is the end user suffers, VW dont make most parts. Parts are made under close guidance by suppliers, the suppliers specialise in what they do and will make the same type of parts for lots of manufacturers. I work in the Automotive industry and just one of our suppliers for example supplies Bentley, Aston Martin, Jaguar and GM companys. Considder the amount of tools they would have to keep and store if they kept everysingle part ever produced for every model and variance. Its so easy now to take a part and reverse engineer it its no wonder other companys are doing it , they have minimal design fees, the market already exists for the product and its not hard for a specialist to work out what material a part is made of. Its very cheap to batch produce parts out of the far east and then distribute to motor factors such as gsf or euro car parts. unfortuantely older cars are harder to maintain as a result which is why IMO there is such a market for breakers yards as well!

most on here will agree that the best top mounts are mk3 vr6 ones, they can be fitted to all, they are longer lasting than pattern parts and made of a more dense compound than the ones for the valvers -

Late model corrados have the same set up as mk3 gti's. Spring rates differ form 1.8/2.0 and the vr6 i dont know for sure on early C's. -

dont cut it off. I removed a clamp myself and was told my the policeman after that it was criminal damage just to touch it (i unbolted the wishbone and slid it out as the clampers turned up to check it as they were apparentlly driving past) you'll only get into trouble as they have your reg etc and they are b*stards so will try and get even more money out of you. I'd second the pay it then dispute it method

an animal, the facelifted 300bhp model v v v good car, lively in the wet or snow but i little impractical with only a modest sized boot. It hit the limiter at 156 and could match a 997 c2 or c4 through miltonkeynes roundabouts without question. i used to average 25mpg with alot of fast b-road and motorway driving combined with town/milton keynes roundabout dodging which in the end started to hurt the wallet doing 700+miles aweek in it. Its as well built as the audi without a dout a massive step up for Nissan, the inside had all the toys, bose 6 cd system, heated leather cruise control etcand i think as a weekend car its perfect. yep jon, got your text, thats good that its going to a new home as jr is ultimately more important

After a long time away from playuing with the C and being on here i thought i'd say ello! I've been playing around with this the past 9 months, been great fun but i've agreed a deal with the local Audi dealer on a new shape A3 2.0Tfsi S-line this weekend so i'll be coming back to the vag fold and will be a bit more motivated to finish the C project old car out 2006 56 plate uk 350 gt 300bhp, bought on 28k sold with 42k new car 2006 56 plate A3 2.0 T fsi S-line 200 bhp dsg box, i know thhis wont remain standard for long!

I have been told off by a few peeps who did it, that my build thread simplifys it too much, there is alot of work involved TBH, not just on the car but finding parts, making parts etc. Think for every hour I spent on the car I prob spent 3-4 hours doing 'research' lol Good to see your using it now dude, Its looking very shiney, just the car for the recent weather!! I've been rubbish with getting on with mine, few other things taking up free trime and money atn but i really hope towards the end of this year that you wont be the only awd corrado in mk! :D O and Emy, its not easy, its straightforward but it takes alot of time and commitment and motivation, it took a year and alot of work in our free time for me and my mate to build the 4wd floor into mine as the factory wouild have intended. - If you can speed up the process or pay someone else to do it i think it'd be easier to keep motivatied.... I got so bored at one point i went and bought a 350Z to have fun driving again!

The best place i know to get compltely custom wheels machined for a one off is braid in spain, they are not cheap though and are horrendously bad at getting back to you. I've had better resuls calling them, if you do that, get a name and direct number and email address send a sketch or 3d model to them, ideally with diameter/width/offset/finish etc and the type of wheel i.e., 1,2 or 3 piece.

What engine code is your 2.0 8v, my golfs 8v is an agg and they react v badly to induction kits, i've tried pipercross, k&n and bmc and non offered seemingly any gain over the standard airbox and a new panel filter. As mentioned above the problem tends to be heat soak into an exposed filter, i suppose a bmc with aditonal cold ait ducting might be worth a go as i fitted mine bare Also make sure you take off the throttle body and empty a can of carb clearer through the buttlefly as these are v prone to coking up on the 2.0 8v and can cause random stalling at rest. As for mods my little golfs been running a superchip chip, piper cams, air box, new leads, decat and scorpion s/s cat back system for around 5 years and it was making 139bhp at last count... this isnt a cheap option though... you could put a vr6/2.0 16v in there for only a few hundred quid to net yourself either 190 or 150 bhp as standard

ED it will..... but what year??? :ignore: Hiya Stuey, i was in spain, then i came back full of enthusiasm again and now the floor is in and finished (ish) big massive thank you to ed on this one as we've both been hammering drilling and cleaning the floors for what seems like forever ready for installation but his fab and welding skills have made it look almost easy to weld in! lol will get some pics up but if you imagine a factory version of the corrado with a higher rallye rear floor your not far off (i''ve removed the tank strap mounts as it will be having a fuel cell either in the spare wheel well or where the rear seats used to live) I'm off to france tomorrow for a week but ed says he's gonna play with some underseal so i'll take some pics when i get back... then its over to me to refit and wire :gag:

looking good coxy! V sutble as well :) i've neglected my project for 2 long, got back on it in the past month and finished the floor now, what a PITA!! the only thing i'm missing is the support brackets that hold the rear end on to the cast body brackets, they've been discontinued. They're a vw part, no 191505099C, do you have any spares kicking around i might be able to borrow and measure to make some news ones?

Are they not the same weight springs and dampers finished in different material? What company would design and develop proven components and they deliberately engineer different parts? Surely they are the same CAD and CAE developed parts then produced in a lesser grade material?

eek! feel your pain dude, bought my 8v gti at 18 and had to wait a few months till 19 and 1yrs ncb to insure it, i still remember it was £5000 for a car bought for £4500 at 18 or £2300 at 19 with 1yrs ncb, The vr was £2500 when i was 21 with 1 years ncb... scary but i suppose it depends where you live and lots of things! -
52k? not very high, my R32 parts came from a 2003 car with 50k on the clock, 10k a year seems reasonable, but the price is a little high. Either way a full rebuild on the car + the r32 bits replacing whats needed still should be like a modern new(ish) car!

yeah you have a point i get 40+ out of my 8v but when i was using the vr everyday to and from work on a mix of a roads and the m1 the vr averaged 26-28.... + you get the vr noise amd performance if you ever need it! If you look at the figures thers not a huuuuge difference, unless your doing lots of miles! So assuming 10k a year, 190 miles a week and unleaded at £1 a litre the vr would cost £31 compared to £21 for the 8v, So the 8v would save £40 ish a month or £520 a year, half if doing only 5k a year. tbh i'd rather have another 75bhp for the same money (ish) the 8v its not a nippy car and i suppose if its bought to commute in then great! i'd be carefull about wasting money tuning it! (i did this to mine all for a total bhp of 140... didnt set the world o fire!) -
