Looking really good there
-
I've been put off upgrading the loom after stories of lights cutting out etc. The lights used to cut out in an escort I used to have.... very, very scary :shocked!: I also remember the engine would stall whenever I skooshed the windows. I first discovered that on a motorway! Dodgy electrics and poor lighting aren't much fun so I would be interested in a waterproof plug and play version.

very nice, I really nee to get my mk2 back on the road!

T1-Rs work out £10 dearer each from etyres. TBH when looking for prices I couldn't be bothered filling in the order form to find who the local fitters were. Just went through the palava there and it turns out those that will fit tyres to alloys and take the old ones from me are quite close to where I work. Prices for fitting vary quite a bit, £5-15.

Been looking around for a new set of tyres and was wondering if anybody has any experience of using http://www.etyres.co.uk

A real nice one there

I used GSF because I needed the part quick and without hassle. Just ordered it form their website and it arrived the next day which meant I could fit it that weekend. I've still to return my old unit to get my surcharge back though.

Was looking through an old PVW mag last night, a corrado with 9" x 15" wheels had 195/45's!
-
There's much more choice with 195/50's, seems like the way to go!
-
Looks like it but just checked the one I took off and the ebay one has an extra hole for a third bolt.
-
Just been looking for 205's and there isn't much choice. Looks like I'll stick to the 195's. Probably going to go for Uniroyal Rainsports.
-
I'm in Lanarkshire, Bojmobile. The wheels are 15" with 195/45 tyres. Was thinking that this may not be the right width for a 7" wide wheel but the choice of 205/45 is poor.

From my GSF receipt: Part no. 90242 VAG Ref 02A 911 023EX

It's not a difficult job. Basically 2 bolts. I ordered my Starter motor from GSF, £65 IIRC. Just had a look for the part number from my old one but couldnt find it. I managed to get the right unit by selecting year and model on the GSF website. If you have the bonnet up and are facing the engine it's on the right hand side at the bottom, next to the gearbox. You will see a bunch of wires leading to it. If you have the new starter it will give you a good idea of whats involved just by looking at it. First step is to disconnect the -ve terminal of the battery. Next remove all electical connections to the starter. Undo the bolt at the bottom and bolt at the top of the starter. You will be able to just pull the starter out. Slip the new one in, tighten bolts and connect all wires back up. You may need to disconnect a couple of other conections for better access along the way. There is a metal part that is over the spindle of your new unit but often the old one is stuck in when removing the starter. This means that the new starter won't fit in so remove this part before fitting. Let me know if you need any more help, but if I can do it I'm sure you'll manage

The Golf is a mk2 8v GTi. I've gathered most of the parts to get it how I want it, cosmetically at least. Other than the dash, engine and drivers seat, it has been completely stripped and I think the only original panel is the roof! Should look good if it ever gets finished  Trying my best not to spend the Golf funds on the Corrado at the moment!

I thought it was about time I posted pics of the Corrado I bought about a month ago. Its a '91 1.8 16v with 154k to be used as my daily driver while I save some cash to pay for the golfs respray. So far the starter has been replaced and I've put in a holeless parcel shelf courtesy of awesomecorrado. It had a good scrub last weekend and I took off that coupe badge at the back. I'll get rid of the naff aerial and probably replace the fag burned carpet and doorcard. First will be a service and new tyres. I have two tyres with punctures now which is a good excuse to get rid of them as they are *****. What was I thinking buying another VW so close to Christmas!
-
Top work there, that pic of the beading on the C is impressive.
-
Which Parks garage was that. I can't think which one is at Peacocks cross
-
I've had the C a month now and the tyres and rank. A couple of punctures seem the ideal time to get them replaced. The car currently has 15"x7J Borbet C's with 195/50 tyres, should I get the same size replacements or go for a slightly wider tyre to since the wheel is wider than standard?

How did you get on, I have the same symtoms and wondering what the most likely cause is. We did have loads of rain last week and I cleared loads of leaves from the scuttle today so fingers crossed thats the cause but I doubt it'll be that simple.
-
I changed the starter today which got rid of the grinding noise. It has started without a problem so far, if it keeps it up I'll be able to finally get rid of the clio :)
-
My new starter arrived a couple of days ago the weather has been so bad I've not been able to fit it yet. The car has been starting fine until this morning when I turned the key and got the dreaded click. Luckily I still had the clio and could get to work. If only everything in life was reliable as a Renault! :(

Yip, I had the same problem on my golf. Sorted now and I managed to stay dry, result!
