  1. I had two broken springs and put a set of H &R's yesterday. Since the suspensions was coming out I changed to vr6 spec at the front and replaced all rubber parts, bearings and top mounts etc. I never bothered with the ball joints or shocks. Search for a link I posted to clubgti where the part numbers are listed and I'm sure I have another post with rear part no.s. It's up to you how far you go put I would suggest getting parts ordered asap as I had to wait 6-8 weeks for some parts! If you don't trust the garage to cut bump stops buy and cut them yourself before handing them over. Although the springs haven't settled and I won't have my geometry done until Thursday, the difference is incredible!

    Jules' 16V Rado

Thanks I'll take you up on that. To be honest from what I've seen of the mk2 he does an excellent job, its one of the best i've seen in the flesh/metal. Where abouts in Wishaw is he? I looked up phone book and google etc. but no joy.
  3. Have a look at the engine section on the clubgti forum. There's loads of info on 16v options.
  4. Thanks for taking the time to do this :)
  5. Looking forward to see how this turns out. Good work!

    Jules' 16V Rado

Where are you taking it to get sprayed? It would be good to get a local recommendation as my Golf needs some paint. Spotted you today, good to see its all back together.
  7. I have been known to spend a bit of time cleaning my car, I've overheard people walking by my house saying I'm crazy etc. but I see it as saving time. Even though I could take a day claying, pcing and waxing, it only needs that level of work twice a year. It makes washing easier and quicker with better results, so you save time. Of course, as with most things you need to draw the line somewhere but thats up to each individual, whether it be a carwash  at the petrol station or taking your wheels off for a clean after every drive. I don't know of a better word than detail to describe the process though.
  8. Agreed Jim. The definition given in the link 'work of art' seems fair enough  Further down the page the sat nav and alfa ad are worth reading.
  9. I had Weitec shocks and springs on my mk2 and was happy with them.
  10. Great stuff! How do you manage to stay in those seats when cornering though?
  11. The link works but the vx220 site couldn't handle the 300+ people reading the thread!

New fuses are available from RS Components or Maplins
  13. I wouldn't forget a name like that. Here it is Zinga
  14. I was reading about some of that stuff earlier this week when a catalogue from Frost arrived. Looks like a some good stuff.
  15. Hard luck mate. Hope you get it sorted soon.

    exhaust hangers

They also do reinforced hangers. C and R do some with chains in them which are very good but a bit more expensive.
  17. Its a shame it never kept the original mirrors and ride height.
  18. There are some good cars featured but the journalism doesn't do them justice. I bought the last couple of PVW which I haven't done for a while and can't believe how bad it now is. I agree with Toad, all shows and cars get the same story with the relevent details changed to suit.
  19. I reckon VW do not too badly when it comes to spares. I don't know of any other marque that has a following like it, with many owners insisting on using VW replacement parts. Your far more likely to find a queue in the VW parts department than others IME. Anyway :offtopic1: but that new Corrado should be just around the corner!
  20. I think I read somewhere this was one of the few parts vw decided not to galvanise on the Corrado. Great idea considering where it is!
  21. Toad - thanks for the very quick delivery of mirror and window switches.
  22. That is very impressive! Great video.
  23. I noticed that Castrol now comes in 4 litre containers. I thought I was imagining it until I found a 5l one in my boot!
  24. GPC - German Parts Company Inters - GTI International A lot of companies will sell stuff at lower prices at shows throughout the year. GPC sell VAG parts at lower prices and I've always found them to be good in the past. http://www.gpcvwaudi.com/ The website doesn't get updated often so give them a phone.
