It seems everybody has to put up with bad road conditions which is not right considering the amount of extra revenue drivers generate for the government. We're really paying a lot of money for a bad service. Something has to be done about it.

A collection of pothole pics sent to the bbc. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_pictures/6427647.stm

There was one in PVW a while back. It didn't quite look right though. I like the bora front end myself.

That's impressive. I think I'll start with a tune and take it from there.

There seems to be loads of topics about poor fuel economy with 16vs but I haven't came across any solutions to this problem. They didn't come out the factory with the sorted of economies being quoted and in fact several long term owners have noticed the figures getting worse with age. Does anybody have a solution or recommend an order of check/replacement of likely faulty parts that may improve fuel economy?

Nice work there.

Cheers, I'll save my £15 and put it towards another headunit and just keep stacking up mp3s on cd's in the meantime.

Does anybody have any experience using FM transmitters to listen to mp3 players in a C? I was thinking of getting one but not sure if it would be worth it as the Corrado aerial isn't great. If anybody is getting good results can they recommend a device.

Picture request, White(or any) C's, lowered with alloys...
A-J replied to -Neil-'s topic in General Car Chat
15" Borbet C's. Note sure how much it has been lowered as it was done by a previous owner. -
Crazy stuff, I seem to achieve the same results on the way to work though, I wish mytyres would hurry up my order.

Just fixed it, cheers guys. The contact had come off but managed to find it and it's sorted. Just need to wait until it's dark to admire the LED sidelights.
-
cheers guys, I'll have a look tomorrow when it's light.

I would be bricking it well before the needle reached 170. I can't begin to imagine the concentration that must be needed at that speed.

I suppose you would be tempted. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/oxfordshire/6312673.stm

One of my sidelights isn't working so changed the bulb but the new one didn't work either. Swapped the bulb and housing with the other headlight and it worked fine in there. There are 12v going to the bulb , but I noticed that that the bulb sat a bit loose compared to the other side. I presume it isn't lighting because of a bad earth. Is there something missing that jams the bulb in, making the connection?

I have a mk2 8v as a project atm and I'm using a 16v C as my daily drive. I would personally prefer to drive the golf everyday. The lower rev torque of the 8v is better suited to daily driving and it has been very reliable. Any parts I have needed have been cheap.

Possibly the heater matrix gone...Soaking wet passenger side
A-J replied to stevie_f_2004's topic in Interior
A VAG heater matrix is around £110 and GPC about £40ish IIRC. Have you you cleared all the leaves from the scuttle area as it is known to cause leaks. -
very nice, good luck with it!

I doubt its the motor, if it was it wouldn't work at any speed. Rosswalker it's a 10min job to replace the thermal fuse and it can all be done indoors. You couldn't possible go wrong

and every time you turn the key and it fires up you'll have the satisfaction of knowing you did it. Good work!

Rover 214. I do remember driving a brand new punto which had a fault with the power steering that caused the steering to move of its own accord. The drive by the forecourt to the valet bay was interesting and after making it without damaging and other cars there was a puddle of coolant on the floor. Much more interesting than driving a Rover though!

Why did I sell a cheaper and more reliable car for something that needs so much work?

I was reading this thread last week after my MFA went from a reading of 25mpg around town, to 18mpg. By the end of the week it began to deteriorate and dropped as low as 8mpg! For no obvious reason it has returned to the 25ish mark again :? I haven't had the chance to work out the proper figures yet but I don't think they'll be that great and I agree is not what you would expect from a car that isn't that quick. I did notice the amount of fuel I could get in the tank varied quite a bit from one petrol station to the next, possible due to incline or dodgy pumps. This could affect your calculations.
