Gearlever bushings replaced, short shift and selector towers

Excellent guide, thanks. Is this an easy job? You give that impression but it looks like it could be a fiddly one. -
*NEW VIDEO* VAG UK Corrado G60 Promotional Video
A-J replied to Yandards's topic in General Car Chat
Didn't early cars use a full size spare wheel and so have a raised floor in the boot? I'm 3 minutes in to the vid and just noticed the rear armrest being raised and I'm wondering if I've ever tried that. -
It's looking good mate!

I got some thick clear plastic sheeting from b & q quite cheaply.

You can fit late spec lenses to early spec headlights without a problem, i did this last week. Late spec just fills the gap that is between the edge of the lens and wing on early spec.
-
Thanks for the update. I just need VW to pull their finger out now!
-
I'm still waiting for mine too. I'll make a post after fitting about how good they are. I'm also going to change my headlight lenses but waiting on the surrounds from the dealer.

1 year today!

I think these were fitted to 206's so they should be available at most places. I went for amber LEDs which work really well. Mine were the red film rather than being painted though.

I've been suffering with really poor wipers over the last month and together with Corrado lights it was getting a bit of a scary drive home from work. Rather than splash out on a set of lupo ones I got a Bosch wiper with spoiler and fitted it on Sunday. The difference is amazing! I didn't change the passenger side so its a good comparison. I couldn't believe I had been driving around with such poor visibility.

Complete Suspension/Brake/Disc/Bush Overhall-What do i need
A-J replied to BeavisJem's topic in Drivetrain
Just to confirm what a couple of the guys have said. I loved the Pagid fast road pads on my golf but as they're no longer available, I went for greenstuff pads. They've been on maybe 8is months now and I'm really happy with them, I reckon probably better than the pagids. -
Mines is a daily driver but 100mile a day is giving my wallet a serious dent so looking for a diesel. Hopefully I can find one cheap enough that I can keep the Corrado
-
We'll need to arrange it sometime then. I know my brother was wanting a look at your paint job so I'm sure he'd take you out a spin in his. I'm busy this weekend(looking for a diesel) but PM sometime and let me know when it suits you.
-
Isn't the mk2 a 16v though? Your welcome to take mine for a spin if you want for a comparison and reassurance. I know what you mean though, mine felt really slow after driving my brothers vr the other day.

After 11 months of owning the corrado I've only managed to get into the 30's on the MFA yesterday. It seems to vary with the weather. Working it out properly I got 35MPG this week, £52 of petrol lasting 400 miles. My journey to work is split 30 mile m/way 20 mile of A road. Much better since I set the idle and booked it in for a tune up.

Correct part numbers for MK4 rear calipers ?
A-J replied to BigTartanJudge's topic in Suppliers Forum
They are not specific to the 1.8T or in fact mk4 golfs, I believe a few people have used skoda items. Sorry no part number but I got a set from Stevens VW breakers through http://www.partsgateway.co.uk -
Supplier of felt tape to stop rattles and squeaks

I got a pack of sticky pads from aldi the other week, I think about £1.50 -
I took it to Autrac after Bedrock couldn't fix my Golf which had similar problems to those that you described, but that was a while ago. If the engine is feeling sluggish I think sticking another gearbox on is just going to be covering up whatever the problem is.
-
Where did you get it tuned? I took mine to Autrac in Motherwell a couple of weeks ago for a tune and seen an improvement. That was the only place that could sort my mk2(8v) for me a few years ago and he is the only guy around here I'd trust to set up my car. I thought my Corrado was running pretty well when I booked it but thought it would be worth a once over. Both CO and timing were slightly out and the car was great afterwards.
-
I phoned C and R and asked for a set of MK4 rear caliper conversion hoses for a Corrado. I think they were around £30. You can't use the original hoses because mk4 calipers use different connections.
-
Is this all the time or just when warm/cold? Mine (16v) was running high when warm but it turned out when coming off the throttle the off switch wasn't making a good contact. Loosen the two screws to move the switch to suit if this is the case.
-
Good luck with the MOT. I had mine last week and only failed on a brake hose. I was really happy with that considering its a 16 year old 160k mile car.
