Bump - Back up for sale. It started fine and strong first turn, and was driving fine up to 2500rpm, but started spluttering above that. I ran it up to temp on the driveway ready for a longer drive and the engine cut out. It won't restart (I've tried a different battery and cleaning terminals). Sadly, I don't have the time to look into it anymore, but would like to see it go to a good home this summer, rather than sitting on the driveway for another year. -

Open to offers mate! -
I've had this car for nearly 12 years and have taken it from Standard, to what I'd say was one of the best Corrado's in the country. Full spec below but basically it's a VRT with LSD, Traction Control, Big brakes etc. No expense was spared in this build and I have a folder full of a scary amount of receipts to prove it! Although I still love it, it's sat on my parents driveway for the last few years, getting driven up and down the road on a monthly basis, but it really is time I moved on and let it go to a new home. Specs are as follows; M Reg Aqua Blue Pearl Corrado VR6 Currently SORN 160k 380Bhp, 375 lb/ft Exterior Paint is pretty good for a 24 yr old car, but does need some polishing work + the usual small dents and scrapes to be expected. Clear Oval repeater 50mm Spliter Red film tinted Lights Lupo Wipers Engine bay Stealth Racing Stage 1+ Turbo conversion: T60/1 Turbo with Garrett internals,FMIC, chrome pipework, manual adjustable Forge recirc valve, later CP ecu and 4" MAF housing. Rebuilt VR engine fitted approx 10k ago. 8.5:1 Headspacer, Autotech 262 cams, ARP Head and Rod bolts, Bosch Green top Injectors All new engine sensors, thermo housing etc Dubpower Ht leads Complete Custom 2.5 inch Stainless exhaust system built at Stealth, no cat is fitted, doesn't sound too boomy at all.New rubber hangers fitted Vibratechnics Rear Engine and Gearbox mount, BlackForestIndustries Front Mount. Holds everything steady with no excess vibration from cold. Wallbro in tank fuel pump 13 row Mocal Oil cooler, new standard heat exchanger and pipes with longer bolt New Genuine Radiator + elbow (one of the last left of each) Uprated Headlight Loom + Osram Nightbreaker Bulbs Drivetrain Racelogic Traction Control (with Launch Control) Really helps get the power down and eliminates wheelspin very subtly. Fixed Steering column with the last fixed cowling available! New wheel bearings front and rear,r32 wishbone bushes, Ball joints, Track Rod ends, Subframe bushes,Powerflex rear axle bushes Gearbox rebuilt by Riccardo in Leamington (they make the gearbox for Mclaren Mp12-4cs) and a Wavetrac LSD was fitted, new seals and bearings where needed. Lightened and balanced Flywheel New Helix clutch with heavy duty release arm Audi S3 shift tower, TTweight and cables, mounted into OE Polo housing. Fits perfectly and gearshift is as good as a modern car. Suspension/Brakes 17x7.5" Genuine BBS RC 323 alloys with Kumho KU tyres. Arguably one of the best wheels on a Corrado 10mm H&R hubcentric spacers front and rear Weitec Hicon GT height adjustable coil overs. Front: Porsche Boxster Brembo front callipers with standard VAG 312mm discs, Ferodo DS2500 pads. Pedal feel is really good and stopping power is great! Rear: MKIV Golf rear Callipers with standard discs and Pagid pads Goodridge raided front and rear lines Weitec rear ARB Interior Recondtioned Standard Cream leather seats +doorcards Black A,B & C pillars Headunit with rear aux in Panasonic speakers and tweeters 320mm Momo Race steering wheel DDI backlit dials and Reverse LCD Red LEDs in switches New Headlight switch New Window rollers Chrome door pulls and pins Silent coat sound deadening in doors pods, rears also filled with bubble wrap. Doors close with a nice thud. EL Sheet Backlit heater controls red/blue colouring Audi S-line Gearknob Bad points: Wheels could do with a refurb Needs 4x new tyres Heater control direction knob is broken, currently set on windscreen/face (may also fix myself) Paint bubbles under inner arches Small coolant hose leak The car 'did' start and drive fine up to about 30mph, but has since cut out and won't start. I just don't have the time/will to look into it, and it's sad to see it sit there for another summer. Price – £6500 takes it away. Quick video of it running Thanks, Andrew

Thanks for the replies guys, they're in line with what I was thinking.

The VRT started for the first time in a while today :) I thought I had an alarm problem, but it turned out to be a flat battery, and it fired up first go once charged. I've had an offer for a quick, easy sale and I'm now stuck between two options- selling no fuss as it stands, or bringing it up to it's former glory before selling. Hmmmm

Hi all, My VRT has been sat at my parents house for a couple of years (SORN, no MOT) as I've been busy with other things. A few weeks ago a guy knocked on the door saying that his friend was interested in buying it and have given me what I considered a reasonable offer to take it away "as-is". I've since taken a look around and see quite a few standard cars advertised for £5-6k, and some talk of VRT's going for £10k. Does anyone have any recent experience of the market? I've no idea what's realistic! I definitely want to sell it but half of me would like to fix it up and sell for a decent price, and the other half would just be happy to see it go to a good home. Any help would be appreciated! (PM if you like). Just over 9 years!

I considered 911's a couple of years ago -with a budget of £20-25k I was looking at 964,996 or 997.1. I ended up in Gen1 Cayman S and don't regret it for a second. Engines going pop does happen but, as said, it really is a very small percentage in the grand scheme of things, and it's not absurdly costly to fix. Cheeky photo:

I've hadn't really thought about using them for paintwork, but I've seen some really nice cars outside over the last couple of years, so maybe I should! It sure is local too... I thought about going to the local meets like DCO etc but since I got a 2nd car a couple of years ago the VRT has pretty much sat on my parents driveway looking pretty. It needs a bit of work doing to take the old alarm out as it causes random issues, but electrics are not my strong point!
-
Nice- I work in Hanborough and have driven past it a few times last week on the way to my parents house (where the VRT is 'stored'). Have you used them for paintwork before? They've also got a real nice CSL style M3 in at the moment.
-
Is this being done at Oliver's in Hanborough?
-
There's too much fabrication needed to fit the inter cooler and you'll most likely want a custom exhaust so I don't think they ended up offering the DIY kits. Let me know if you're interested in a whole car with it already installed though! ;)

So tempting! arggggg must resist!

How about a Z4M Coupe? I really wanted one, but ended up with an E46 M3 for a year as it was a bit cheaper and I could fit bikes in easily. Loved the M3, but never really fell in love with it, if that make sense? It was an SMG and I think I just felt a bit disconnected unless really hammering it. I think Z4MC's look stunning and would consider one in the future. Engine wise S54's are pretty bombproof and you can't beat the feeling of running over 100Bhp/Litre. Engine note is an acquired taste- it's all exhaust unless you get a CSL style air box, and to be honest I really prefer the VR6 sound. You could probably get into a cheap Cayman S for your budget. They have some reliability issues on the internet but I'm good friends with a guy who runs a Porsche specialist and problems are actually very rare (a bit like the stories of people snapping chains etc on a VR6). Ticks a lot of boxes looks and driving wise, and it's really an event every time you drive one. I get 3-4 positive comments per day when I use mine (although that might have a little to do with the RS style white/red colour scheme!) Other cars to look at could be a R32-4 Skyline, E39 M5, TVR, 964/993, SL55 AMG etc

Looks stunning Nick! Big congratulations :) It must be amazing to have the car back finally, and those CH's are the single best wheel on a Corrado. I hope the bill wasn't too much of a shock. I remember feeling quite faint when Vince showed me the bill for mine a couple of years ago! (I'm not even sure where the battery is for mine at the moment...) Anyway, weather looks good for the next week, so get that oil leak fixed and put some miles on it!
-
Nice work. I butchered my centre air vent to fit a boost gauge a few years ago, but it looks good in the side vent too. I've seen this around Oxford a few times and it does look great.
-
Looks great Karl! Got a real soft spot for these, they do sound so good. Look forward to seeing what you do to it- I'm sure it'll be wearing a set of BBS soon enough :)

This will be an absolute beast when back on the road! I found that there's not much that can hang with a sorted VRT, and the noise is just incredible. Looking forward to some clips of it :) Interested to hear how the 6-pots feel too mate.
