Your Corrado hardcore-ness is to be respected :)

Thanks fellas, will check it out.

I've recently had new OEM rear axle bushes fitted - and the car handling actually seems to have deteriorated somewhat. It's only noticable on the limit, during a rapid direction change. I am used not to having to slow down at roundabouts for example, just flick the car left-right-left with constant throttle. Good fun, and usually possible to feel the passive rear wheel steering working behind you. Now, the car seems sloppier than usual, with the rear end just not coping with the direction change as it used to. Other than checking geometry, what else is there for me to examine? I wouldn't have thought it possible to fit an axle bush incorrectly, so what else could have gone wrong?

Wierdly, I found my ride quality improved when I went from 15 to 16" - which had to be down to new Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres instead of the cheap rubber the previous owner had fitted to the original wheels.
-
These 16" Speedline Comp 2 's were the next best thing for me...

Check brake fluid, and if OK try unplugging the blake fluid resevoir (single cable going in) and drive the car. If the light goes out, it's either the contacts on the plug or the float on the resevoir cap.

Corrado VR6 back from stealth 220 bhp & 202 ft/lb
JoeNose replied to ___Dubstar___'s topic in Engine Bay
I've never seen loss figures of less than 30% on Stealth's rollers. -
A cheaper option (than VW) but which gives you an (almost) good as new unit: http://www.vege.nl/ They have a UK supplier and will grant you a year's warranty. Of course, you still have to arrange fitting yourself. My C has one of these and it's been trouble free for the last 3 years.

I wouldn't walk away because a 138000-miler had had an engine change many years ago. If it's running sweetly on the replacement engine (and presumably has been for 60000 miles), the current condition of the car as a whole is much more relevant.

The fact that if I go over a bump at speed my head hits the roof. And if I slide back the sunroof my hair sometimes sticks slightly out of the top leaving me looking like a scarecrow.

As Rodders said...VAGCOM VAGCOM VAGCOM before you do anything else. I'd wager your system is probably fine. The fans are doing their job if the guage is out by around 10 degrees, which is far from unheard of.

Don't think Brentacre do agreed value at all? A proper agreed value policy puts you in a much stronger position if your car's written off. I'm with Chris Knott and they've always been fine with me.

After acquiring not just a new radiator, but also a couple of complementary scratches on the bonnet (now polished out) from Discount VW, I'll remember that recommendation, cheers chewy.

Great result, i feel rather gutted now... ;)

I've got a Brera sat outside the house - mine for the day
JoeNose replied to Andy665's topic in General Car Chat
I think I'd feel good driving one of them regardless 8) -
Be interested to know how you get on mate, and what the garage is...used to live in Wallasey myself.
-
Unfortunately there isn't anywhere else on the Wirral I'm aware of... Dubsport in Wigan might be worth a trip, if you can get it there!
-
Wierd, my rad has just let go also (VR6) and I'm on the Wirral. Discount VW & Audi are soting me with a replacement from EuroCarParts for about £300 inclusive of VAT and labour. They are in Hoylake, call them on 0151 632 4101.

Good for her for wanting something different. Nothing wrong with paying extra for some individuality either (in fact, isn't that what most of us are doing with our Corrados upto a point?) - I think the Figaro looks OK. I'll also add my other half to the list of folk's g/fs who want one!

Insurance: given me a rubbish offer: Finally resolved.
JoeNose replied to Taggart's topic in General Car Chat
Everytime a complaint goes to the ombudsman, the insurance company gets billed direcectly - irrespective of how the complaint is resolved! For a big company (like the one I work for) that is a minimum of £400 per complaint. You do have to exhaust the company's own complaints proceedure first, before this becomes an option though. Remember the principle of indemnity - the insurer must put you back into the same (financial) position you were in prior to the insured event occuring. Give a detailed explainantion in your letter as to why their offer in no way complies with this principle. Include autotrader evidence and copies of all reciepts. Good Luck! -
Who here has a 60mm/40mm drop - any scraping issues
JoeNose replied to matth76's topic in Drivetrain
Mine's 35mm front and rear, and all speedbumps are a problem for me too (although usually just manageable at dead-slow speed). The cat heatshield scrapes from time to time, I wouldn't want to go any lower. -
Bad connection it was! Thanks for the replies.

Thanks for reply, but bulbs are OK...

Got round to fitting my upgraded 'Magik' headlight loom today. Seem to have missed the bit about disconnecting the yellow dim / resistor though. After belatedly doing this, I was left with sidelights only. Disconnecting the new loom and re-wiring as factory intended didn't cure the problem! I can flash the main beam, but it won't stay on of course without headlights. All the fuses look to be OK! Anyone know what I've broken and what I need to do to fix it?

AF do have the merit of being able to offer 'agreed value' cover, as do Chris Knott. Not sure if there are any other brokers offering this facility at present, and if your C is heavily modded or in excellent condition generally, it's a good option to take.
