Or a turbo. :norty:
-
Worryingly enough yes it has. Haven't got it to hand but in the history there is a receipt for new hoses and flanges.
-
I've definitely had stuff off that guy before. Can't remember what it was but obviously didn't have any problems with it!
-
Too right matey. Wish I didn't have to go to work today so I could stay at home and get it finished!

 I know man. What a pen15. Anyway, quite pleased with my progress this evening. Got myself covered in oil and coolant but that's what it's all about. :D Think I had a slight water leak rather longer than I had anticipated and it just decided to turn into a torrent the other day. This is what we call in the trade a f*cked flange. :norty:  Think it might be worth just giving this a little clean.... Anyway all I have to do now is clean things up and rebuild/refill everything.

:camp: Well, as has been said, G60 owner paranoia.... :camp:

Just picked up the new flanges and some G12++. I'm all happy again now. :D :D :D

Looking good. Are they the lights off the old one?

You seen their work before? Carleena wanted to know what a respray on her Golf (and one for Gooney) and I'd be interested to know their costs. Who does that kind of work for your company? My company uses Marshalls down the road from us. They do a good job but I've heard Carrera are absolutely blinding. Everyone I know who knows about these things has recommended them so I'm planning on taking her down there when she's back on the road. Although I haven't seen their work first hand yet so we'll see. I'll let you know how much they charge etc. :D That's Mic scarred for life.

Mine is too. My Mum says so.

Not entirely sure yet. See what I can get away with once I've had a proffesional opinion. I'm gonna take it to Carrera Body Works in Nowton. 8) I'm actually reluctant to go full glass out and everything. You know, just in case.... You're just jealous that not only have I got a manly car but I'm also incredibly handsome! Are you trying to convince Stu of your attractiveness? I'm not entirely sure he needs convincing. Toad definately doesn't. I think he likes you! :norty:

Just ordered some new flanges from v-dub (one has sprung a leak) and will pick up some coolant. Already got a VW oil filter and some mega expensive oil. Just need to adjust the rear suspension to make it a bit lower, satisfy myself further that it's not about to give up on life and then it's new wheels and new paint time.

HAHAHA you know it, all you need in london Traffic, Valver power! Mic you know I love the Mincing machine! Actually last time I saw mic he was contemplating forsaking Mincy in favour of a 24v....

Yes, I'd have saved myself all these worries... and replaced them with a whole bunch of others! *cough* Chains/tensioners/clutches *cough* :epicfail: Don't, you'll get the poor boy worried. He'll be having nightmares about oval cylinder bores....

Yes, I'd have saved myself all these worries... and replaced them with a whole bunch of others!

I think this car is gonna have a detrimental effect on my emotional health before too long.
-
Can't wait to shift the Golf now so I can splash some cash on the old girl. :D
-
Yep.
-
Ok, I'm officially an idiot. The grey stuff is a mix of the oil and PTFE lube used in the rebuild process and is normal.  :epicfail:

I've emailed the pic across and will call them later this afternoon on my lunch break if I don't hear back by then.

Cheers Jim, I'm sure it won't take too long. Just got to find the time now to remove it and get it all boxed up. You were alright matey. I actually found it quite amusing that we were both working on our cars at the same time! I think you might have been having more success than me! I'm not turning down the cuddle though.... True enough I guess. Just goes to show I suppose that no matter where you get it done you shouldn't get complacent. As is said on this forum at punishing regularity they ain't getting any younger!

Haven't noticed any smoke nor any major loss of oil and it just did the journey to the National Day and back. Lucky I found out it was knackered whilst it was sat in my garage and not when I was bombing down the A14! Was only yesterday discussing some new wheels and a paint job.... How gutted would I have been if I found this after I'd shelled out on those two things?! I don't know if I could bring myself to run it without the charger. I think that would just depress me more than is necessary. I may be able to pull in some favours regarding the car situation. I'm sure I'll be alright. Already had a couple of offers.

It is well annoying mate! I'm selling my golf at the moment so was just servicing the G60 and fitting the new suspension as I was going to have to start using it daily. So I drained the oil yesterday and went to change the oil filter tonight before filling her up again. I needed to give myself a bit more room to access the oil filter so removed the charger outlet and this is what I found.... :( All the boost pipes are full of oil too. Fortunately the charger rebuild came with a 12 month warranty. I'm not gonna name names but most of you know who did it anyway. Haven't got any beef with them as these things happen and I'm confident they will sort it out. Biggest problem is as I'm selling the Golf which ends on Friday and the G60 is dead I'm gonna be without a car come next weekend. Looks like I might have to start doing that to fund all the repairs on my damn car!
