Sonicriot13 replied to The_Dude's topic in General Car Chat
Yep. Great result for Webber. And much better from Ferarri this weekend. Bet Massa had forgotten what a podium looked like! -
Yeah, love the cream leather! 8)

Actually, and it's my turn to be picky, I think you'll find the one on the right is a DBS. -

Ah, good luck to them I say. A lot of people would do something like that if they had the money. Wealth is all relative anyway. As long as they haven't made it selling children on the street or dealing drugs I've got no beef with that whatsoever. -
If your wedding presents were matching his and hers Aston Martins. Taken at the Grand Hotel in Eastbourne. I've blurred the plates but lets just say they matched too... and probably didn't cost a lot less than the cars did.

Yeah, slightly concerning. Think I'll go for an F430 instead after all.... I wish.

There will, it'll just be electric.

Rado vs Rice : a little test, which do you prefer?
Sonicriot13 replied to The_Dude's topic in General Car Chat
Have to say, not a huge fan of the Starion. Looks a bit like a Porsche 944 gone wrong(er). -

Agreed, the guy has no taste in mods/aftermarket bits and has brought a classic car into disrepute. I suggest we stone him at dawn. :nono: The thing is your mate's Supra and the Corrado above just prove as has already been said that even if you have good taste in the car itself you can still be clueless when it comes aftermarket styling. -

This comparison is unfair. Try this one instead: Good people, a Volkswagen Corrado. Now a Toyota Supra. Which one would you rather be seen driving now.... -
Thats it, im done, i cant do it anymore

Having had two of the things now I can assure you G60s have their fair share of problems mate! Just make sure if you are going to go down that route you don't go from a mechanically sound car that looks bad to a looker that blows up on you after a month. I know how depressing it can be to have a car with cr@p bodywork. I'm in the same boat. I hate the way my car looks at the moment. -
Are the memories starting to come back now?
-
apparently at BVF you were both. :) He's not going to remember that!
-
Why have you shopped a trailor on the back?
-
 The discarded latex laying next to the wheel looks ominous....

Anyone Know How to Sell a Number Plate????
Sonicriot13 replied to rado-steve's topic in General Car Chat
Don't forget that DVLA will not only charge you £105 to put the cherised numberplate on retention, they also charge you to issue you with a standard numberplate (varies, but the assignment fee part of that used to be £78) and also the new plate owner has to pay DVLA a £78 fee (on top of what he's paid you) to have the cherished numberplate assigned to him. Basically the DVLA have got themselves a proper little racket going. You need to factor all these costs into how you approach selling/buying a cherished plate. BTW the best cherished Corrado plate I've known was Mr Brookes' legendary G60 GO (G6 OGO) which he had about 10 years ago & then sold to a MkII Golf owner. There's currently an Aston DB9 in Bournemouth with FA51 CAR on the bumper which I think is one of the better "new generation" cherished plate combinations So if my plate is only worth £400 I'm not gonna have much left even if I just sell it straight off the car. I have the V317 form in front of me which is the one you use to transfer or retain a vehicle reg number. It doesn't mention an assignment fee for the standard numberplate. It just says "the vehicle in section 2 will be given a replacement registration number appropriate to its age". So where do they sneak the other charge in then? The only thing they ask for on this form is the £105. -

Incidentally, when you went to sell yours where did you get them valued and how accurate where the valuations? -

He's right. They give you a big valuation just to get you on their books. I had COL19V valued at over £1500. Great if you were Colin who drove a 16V Renault 19. But nobody called Colin who drove a Renault 19 wanted it. So it went when the car was scrapped. Yeah, I've been thinking how you would actually sell a plate privately anyway. Where would you advertise it? Looked at Ebay and there are millions of plates all with no bids. Think the only thing you could do is sell it through Reg Transfers or the like. But you only get money when they sell it. And there's no guarantee they would do that any time soon. I'm surprised you couldn't find a buyer for yours though. There presumably must be a market for them somewhere.... -

You're just jealous cos you don't have one.  To be honest if it was only worth £50 I'd be happy with that! It's £50 I didn't have before and I haven't had to do anything to get it. 8) I have 2 private plates that must be worth millions as they are single number prefix's  I'll get my coat then....
