  1. I don't know the car but that looks like a bargain mate! Is that what valvers go for these days? I know I've read all these threads about prices being low at the moment but haven't been paying attention to the actual prices!
  2. Man, it wouldn't be Edition 38 without Toad. Looks like I'm going to the next Bury meet in a Hyundai. I can kiss my cred goodbye!
  3. Nice one mate! Cheers for that. I'll thank you at Edition 38.... :norty:
  4. See, I didn't think of that! That's a damn good idea mate! :D The trouble is nothing will grip it any more. I've tried everything. Not even a bolt grip grips now. Never mind. I don't think I really need to worry about that any more. Think I'm gonna bite the bullet and just take the fecking front end off! I also have my suspicions about the sump gasket. It sucks, I'm looking at it right now through the window and all I want to do is drive it and I can't! You're right mate. All this faffing is getting me down as much as not being able to drive it. I just need to get on with it. And if I do get stuck on something I know I can always ask on here. :D
  5. Forgot to say earlier mic_VR if I can ever help you in any way, like if you need any bolts rounding off, just let me know! Right, here are some pics. Not great unfortunately but the best I can do. Also they are at weird angles but bare with me. This is the bracket, those two bolts that are loose in the picture are obviously the ones I can get out. The other one runs at a right angle to these, so is horizontal, but the power steering pipe is in the way. And here is a picture showing the thermo housing with all the deposits of anti freeze above it. So it has obviously been leaking above the pipe. I know they are cr@p pictures but what do you reckon?
  6. If you mean this sunday mate, I'm already trying to fix my own car, but the following weekend I've got a completely free one (i think) if that helps? That would be really good mate. I have every Sunday off. Honestly, any time you could spare would be brilliant. Cheers dirtytorque, I'll get some pictures up later. I'm not sure if it has split or what really. The previous owner had all the pipes changed but not the pump so maybe something got disturbed then?
  7. Yes!!! Steelies rule! That has actually cheered me up. Cheers geezer! :D
  8. I've had 3 Corrados now. Frankly I wouldn't even know where to begin.
  9. Ok, had a day off yesterday so decided to have another go at the car. Still can't get that bracket off but with a bit of WD-40, brute force, and bad language I managed to pull it round enough to just about gain access to the screw on the jubilee clip. So untightened that and disconnected the bottom hose and drained the coolant out. With that hose now out of the way it allowed me to have a good look and it appears the water pump is shot to sh!t and my leak is not just caused by the fecked hose. I don't really know how I didn't notice before but the pump is basically white. I'll put some pictures up when I get home. Am I right in thinking that to gain access to the pump I'm going to need to take the alternator and the charger off? I know the precedure for removing both but those who have done it before how much of a pain in the ass is it? I'm still at a stage where I could just replace the hose, fill it up with coolant, and then take it to a garage. Which I have to say on account of how well this has gone so far I'm leaning towards but at the same time I can't be bothered to shell out for it. Oh, and to add insult to injury I have found a massive nail embedded in my tyre. Beautiful. Cheers guys. Joe
  10. Hyundai's figures are up over last year. :D Mind you, we sell high quality, affordable vehicles with a 5 year unlimited mileage warranty that covers the whole car. That's what people want when the money's tight.
  11. Bl**dy scrounging students!
  12. Here in Suffolk me and my girlfriend have a fair amount of savings between us and we both take home a reasonable wage. We wouldn't even come close to being able to consider buying at the moment. My Grandma (sadly no longer with us) Paid £45,000 for her house about ten years ago. After she passed away she left it to my Mum and my Auntie and they have just sold it for £185,000. That's a rise of 411%. It was always going to have to slow down and start to drop again. There are a huge number of people staring negative equity in the face all over the country now though.
  13. Well, if his gallery is anything to go by I'm sure he's more than qualified to work on my Rado. I may give him a look when I decide to make all the panels on my car the same shade of red again. I wouldn't mind the journey either as a decent bodyshop is well worth it.
  14. Er, how much does he charge for a blow over then?
  15. You'd like this one then. I'll post up a piccie soon. Jettas rock. End of. It's funny how a kind of downward spiral is developing. People are being told that we are heading for recession so they are less inclined to make a major purchase such as a house, and are also apparently spending less on the high street, which in turn means that the economy will just get worse. I think the solution is for eveyone to go on a spending spree! I have really grown to hate the media. They twist everything. I wonder if it's possible to pin point the exact moment that they rather surreptitiously started referring to global warming as "climate change". That way they can blame motorists and China not only for when it gets warmer but for when it gets colder too.
  16. I just don't know about all this. I took four orders last month for Santa Fes. Which for those of you who don't know/care about Hyundais are the largest, most polluting 4x4s in the range. Also I've noticed no drop whatsoever in the number of orders I'm getting for brand new cars. If anything they are going up slightly. Don't be so quick to blame it on the "credit crunch". There's no doubt the economy is going in the wrong direction but the media so far have blown it all out of proportion. Maybe nobody really wants to pay 3 grand for a Corrado at the moment. Especially when even good examples could need a fair amount spending on them straight away. The only place I know that has been hit as bad as people say is the housing market. Just about everyone who applies for a job with us is a recently made redundant estate agent.
  17. Surely that just means your mum is awesome? I'm sure Toad told me that already anyhow.... She was good, not a patch on your Dad though Sonicriot13, that was a fun weekend..... My Dad spends more time with you than he does with me. :(
  18. I'm a weak man. I can't imagine they'll have any trouble shifting them. Especially with the proposed pricing.
  19. Surely that just means your mum is awesome? I'm sure Toad told me that already anyhow....
  20. Yea until you see thats not what you actually get, stop fanticising over a girls car...... It woudn't take much to make it look like that though. A blue paint job, make it a little lower, and put an ironing board on the back. Easy. It's not in the remotest bit girlie. It's just more girls have ordered them so far. I'm a bit surprised how many white ones have been ordered though. I reckon it's because the press cars in all the uk magazines have been white. Anyway, in conlcusion it's not a girls car.
  21. I can't believe the grip has failed myself. But It looks as though it may get to the point of no return where even the bolt grip runs out of grip. It's proper rusted in. Mic_VR are you free next Sunday? If so that would be a good day for me if you can spare some time. :D G60s aren't complicated. Just rusty and old....
  22. Weeeeeellllll, I've now seen one! :D At Goodwood. I'll be putting some pics up soon! Adn I think it looked fanatstic. It was the GT24 and not the road going one but I am so sold on it now.
  23. Yeah, I don't see why they feel the need to set up so much stuff. It's the unsetupable stuff that's the funniest. The look on May's face when Clarkson was spraying his car was just priceless though.
  24. Wow, thanks guys. I'm about 7 miles away from Bury St Edmunds. I'm sure I could make it down to Kent Peanut. :D I visit friends in Canterbury every now and again and it's not too bad a drive. Honestly mate you'd really be helping me out. Basically just below the Thermo housing there is like a bracket with three bolts going into it. Two vertical and one horizontal. I can't see that there is a way to get the housing off without taking the bracket off first (although I may be wrong on that of course). Anyway, it's the horizontal bolt that is giving me grief. The pipes coming off the power steering pump are in the way and also the coolant pipe going into the thermo housing (although that of course could be disconnected but that would involve draining out the coolant which I was hoping to do after the bracket is off). Making it difficult to hammer anything onto it. Or even swing a wrench for that matter. Bentley just refers to it as an adjustment bracket on 19.3. Cheers for the offer Boost Monkey but I already have a replacement housing. :D Regarding the crank bolt I'd just feel a lot more confident in the precedure with the help of someone who has a better idea of what they are doing. It probably is quite simple but I've never done anything like that before and it's not the kind of thing I want to get wrong.
  25. Hey guys, just putting out a call for help. Having a bit of bother with my car. I need to sort out this water leak and it looks as though a jubilee clip has been over tightened and now the thermostat housing is egg shaped. The thing is I need to get the bracket off beneath one of the good damn bolts has rounded off big style. I've tried an Irwins bolt grip and all it seems to be doing is chewing it up. I've even had it in our workshop up on the ramp today and I still can't shift it. None of the mechanics I work with are being helpful at all. They won't even touch it. Is there anyone near me with a bit more experience that could help out? Also I need to change my crank bolt which I think is best done as a two person job. The water leak is not so bad that I couldn't get the car out to someone. It's starting to get me down now because I can't enjoy my car until it's sorted. I've got all the parts and a pretty good selection of tools. Just need some help. Cheers. Joe
