  1. I think shininess is overrated anyway ... Who says all cars have to be shiny? :)
  2. Yes, there's two types. You (or someone) bought the wrong one!
  3. I've posted a few more than 6k .. there was a big database cleanup a while back that took out the rest.
  4. How much? What's it's history?
  5. Well if yours is a hot film, -462 and it came in at only £80 (I presume that was after the exchange rebate?) for a new, original part that's hard to argue with.. :)
  6. Wow, digging out a dead old thread. Anyone know for sure which MAF this one is that GSF are selling? 18786D AIR MASS METER G3 VR6 65.00 Hot film or hot wire ... ?
  7. Just like any insurance policy isn't it?
  8. http://www.autonationalrescue.co.uk/serv01.htm £88 per year without the 25% no-call-out discount, £66 with. Until I saw that I was gonna jump ..
  9. The 16v cars with minimal gadgets would be absolutely fine with a 54 Ah battery. The only one that needs significantly more juice is the big VR, since it has 50% more engine to crank over from cold. Even a 54Ah battery should deliver >500 Amps for starting current, which is plenty - even a VR will start ok from a 54 Ah battery, but longer term it might not hold up, particularly in the winter.
  10. The only downside with broken knock sensors is the engine will run with the ignition fully retarded, so performance will be down slightly. You shouldn't notice pinking or anything untoward.
  11. Green Flag are doing free upgrades to Home Start at the mo. Full year's cover with Roadside and At Home from around £45 .. i.e. about half what the others are charging. There *are* cheaper schemes, but it usually means you have to pay the garage direct, then reclaim from the provider later.

    VR MAF????

Default failsafe program - it'll run, and it'll no doubt run better than when your dodgy MAF was governing the engine using the failsafe program. It just won't make big power. If anything, I would expect it to overfuel very slightly, but it should still pass the emissions test.

    What Bilbs?

Never done it, but I think the difference is pretty obvious. I mean, some people are fitting 110w bulbs, which obviously makes a HUGE difference. I wouldn't recommend that though, cos that works out at about 35 amps on full beam... I suppose going to 75/80W won't make that much difference, electrically. It's still not legal though, afaik.
  14. Cat heat shield might have come loose again .. unless you know that sound, and this is not the same .. ?

    What Bilbs?

You don't *need* to go for higher wattage bulbs... you *can*, and there's *slightly* less risk of you frying anything or melting the reflector dish in the headlight than there was before.. Standard bulbs are 55/60 watts.
  16. Might it be the cat heatshield rattling?
  17. You can't check for a stuck injector, no, not that I'm aware of. You would know a stuck injector, because the spark plug will be soaked in petrol.
  18. They often have some guys in on "phone duty", but the idea of a full time secretary is madness. One of the greatest things about Stealth is that you can talk to a tech pretty much straight away about what the best thing to do is or isn't.
  19. Biggest issue with paying the excess is that if you come to renew your policy before the whole thing is sorted, you get screwed for having a loss on record. Only once the whole thing is settled does your record go "clean". PITA.
  20. (One) trouble with the TT is it just looks like they dusted off the Beetle design papers and scaled the vertical axis down by about 50%..
  21. YES! ;) Not only that, but there is a small amount of movement in the rear axle locating bolts, which apparently allows you to make sure that the rear wheels are pointing straight ahead and also inline with the fronts.
  22. I would have to say that the easiest way to see that your ABS is disabled is to look at the ABS light ... If it's on, it's disabled ...
  23. Yes indeedy, pferdesterke vs bhp. Din PS ratings from the manufacturer are near enough bhp ratings for bloke-in-pub type comparisons though.. :)
