  1. you have not said what the voltage is at the battery when the car is running??? Is the alternator charging the battery? What is the battery terminal voltage when the car is idling?
  2. Have you deleted you boost return by any chance?
  3. the standard radiator should easily cope with current engine specs. The coolant temps shouldn't really go much higher than 90 degrees. When driving reasonably fast you should be getting good airflow to the rad and see good temps. The system is most stressed in slow stop start traffic. So sounds like you need to investigate all the normal type cooling things,i.e fans coming on,stat opeing properly, rad in good order etc.. Any smoke coming out the zaust pipe? Any may on oil cap or oil residue in coolant?
  4. i think a bit of research is in order mate. :) http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewto ... =1&t=27844
  5. As long as you still have the necessary valve clearance I'd give it a go. I might try it out in the winter.
  6. :) you do make me larf. Are you one of those people that has to look up their own mobile number? :)
  7. Ok mate, I'll have to get a pic up tomorrow of how it is now but you can see a few pages back what it was like when I got the old one off. Not sure if it's my fault, may have been a little harsh with the wire brush? just throw some gasket sealnt on that bad boy and stop being :camp:. Serioulsy i went thru the same thing very recently, and after i stopped moping and whinging I just put gasket sealant on it. I know you shouldn't need to but it worked and I moved on.
  8. Yup. Not a modern car though and probably putting out less than his current setup. I'm going to try one soon me'thinks.

No disrespect and appreciate you put an IMO in your post but I'd say it's that kind of attitude that put's the UK so far behind the US in terms of tuning, stuff like picking up a spanner and fettling a 60's Chevy into a 1000bhp at the wheels all motor weapon. We seem transfixed on slapping FI on everything and paying through the nose for countless remaps. Although the yanks build crap from the factory they have an overwhelming understanding of aftermarket tuning with even the most novice grease monkey making big figures from NA. Don't get me wrong a supercharger is on my to-do list but I have the most respect for NA tuning as it's a fading art form. My Schimmels cost me £200 when the pound was strong, didn't bother with tappets as I have a very low milage block, fitted them myself over a few evenings and a crate of beer, absolutely transformed the car and I'd very much doubt they gave any less then 20bhp and that's without a map. Saying that IMO the first mod on every VR should be 288mm brakes before you start upping the power. I hear what your saying but blowing a car designed to be n/a isn't easy either. Not if your going to do it properly and reliably. There is a fair bit of skill involved in both disciplines. And there certain area's of tuning the crossover between n/a tuning and FI tuning anyway. This forum is very biased towards FI tuning i agree but I think it is to do with bang for buck.
  11. "they " don't recommend you clean spark plugs anymore. You can do more harm than good. And you really shouldn't need to in a well tune setup car.
  12. there are,or at least there use to be firms that can adjust the mileage for you. certainly can't be done with vagcom. Were the clocks that you were testing with from the same model of corrado? Maybe there is some sublte difference between early and late clocks?!?
  13. 8) are you going to install that b4 summers end?
  14. what are you trying to achieve, more compression and or more capacity?
  15. i run afr, boost ,oil pressure and voltage guages. All have been useful and one pint or another.Depends on the car really. You can live without all of them but it is nice and sometimes very handy to have the information to hand and a nice confidence booster to loock across at the guages to see everything as it should be. Get an air pressure guage that shows vacuum as well as boost.
  16. ..actually I think what you said makes alot of sense. If your upset with it why prolonge the agony? Buy a nice G. :)
  17. omg clean. :) Come clean mine.
  18. Don't think that's ever bothered Kev, he just wants to drive it and piss off porsches  It would do a pretty good time though I reckon, it's pretty darn quick!! I never find Porshe drivers very playful. BWM/audi drivers usually have a point to prove tho.
  19. Yeah, but I'm sure his torque is pretty darned high. You obviously need a good amount of torque, but power is more important for rapid acceleration over distance :D You should 1/4 mile yours. If you got the line reasonable well you'd put down a good time me thinks. never interested you?
  20. Not just lift and duration, more interested in intake/exhust centre lines and lobe seperation angles. for the usual culrpits. 9a/kr/abf. Anyone got anything hidden facts useful websites etc? thnks
