  1. Friend of mine is about to start looking for a camper van. He wants one as a bit of a project and try and forefil that dream we've all had at some time! Anyone got any advice on where to pick up one? and source spare etc..... Know of any good web sites and forum to help him on his way? Cheers lads!
  2. I had a G60 with chip and pulley, exhaust, alloys, £600 stereo and payed £710 TPFT. I was 22 with no points and 1yr NCB. That was with HIC. VW specialist apparenty.... they gave me 10% off for going to shows and buying PVW!!!
  3. Cheers Gavin! I do quite a bit the car (always something to do!) Feel quite confident on the job following your advice. I think I'll give it a go one weekend. Cheers again
  4. I originally thought it was pinking, but now everything has been setup properly, and it's still rattling a little under load. I've currently got some 95ron in her though, so I'll go fill up with optimax and see what happens. How much I am lookin at to replace the bearings?
  5. from cold there is no obvious clonking, however when you floor it there is a bit of rattling going on but its hard to tell where its coming from. if you let the engine rev up by dropping a gear but don;t give any gas there is no rattle.... anyone?
  6. Well there certainly no clonking from cold and seems to run smooth when hot. Thought it'd be the usual, get a little bit of work done, and then they'll 'find' a lot more that needs doin! I think I'll give that one a miss then! cheers Kev
  7. Just been to get my G60 set up at CnR and they suggested that the con rod bearing need replacing. Anyone had this done? know how much work / cost is involved? and what will happen if I just leave it. oh I'm on 95,000 at the minute...... any advice would be much appreciated!!!
  8. Started off in my mum's polo while I was living at home. Good little run about, and as I was the first to pass out of my mates it really did get run about! Then went through a stage of 'borrowing' my brothers 8v mk2 for a year or so before buggering off to uni where a car just didn't make sense. I then went on a placement year and finally got to spend the 3 grand I'd been saving for years on a 1.8 16v corrado. It had done loads of miles, burn't loads of oil but did not car a bit! I was then on the forum one day when Leew mentioned he was elling his G60. So I harassed till he sold it me! I then flogged my 16valve on here in just a day! Not looked back after getting the G60, cost me a bit more than the 16v, but with these things spending a bit more usually Pays off!
  9. Lookin good! I'm sure you'll have it done before you know it!!!
  10. 83.9 for BP ultima in Nottingham!!!!!
  11. I'm definatly a euro fan! As with all styling though it can be taken too far..... I think you have to keep most aspects subtle, but lowering and widening the stance is always a good move
  12. Great news Darren!!!! Hope all is well :D
  13. PHAT!!!! Great choice mate!!!
  14. I'd chosen to revert back to the standard pulley and chip until i have enough cash to get an SNS and a proper set up. Swapped the chip no probs... Came to remove the pulley and it won't budge. I've removed the bolt in the middle, but the 68mm just won't shift. Any tips in getting it off, bit scared of getting 'tuff' with it as don;t want to stress the chargers internals. Oh and if I ran the std chip and a 68mm, would it just harmlessly bleed of the extra boost?
  15. Lookin damn' good!! 8) Not long now heh!
  16. Any one else got any ideas on this? As well as the idle raising, it takes longer to return to a steady level...
  17. I've been adjusting my timing and when I advance it its raised the idle. I got to the point where it pinked, then backed off a bit, but the idle was still high. Do i need to adjust my idle, or back off on timing till idle is back at 800?
  18. Darren where's the long pipe go? and does it make it quieter?
  19. I had a similar experience when a mercedes mechanic brought my dads car back from a service. He saw my C on the drive and said to my dad "now thats a proper car! not like these new mercs!"
  20. I'm intrested in a cat back system, if like the others have said its at the right price :) come on Darren, give us a clue!
  21. Get a voltmeter or similar device and whille there are no keys in the ignition test the wires behind the unit for a 12v current(think mine red with white stripe) . When you've found it you need to connect this to the memory/perminant V cable on your head unit(look at head unit manual to check which wire) now put your keys in and get the power on, (light on dash) and test for another 12v cable (usually red) and this is your live. this will power your unit when on. Don't forget your earth (black or brown)!!
  22. right its a bit of a tricky one to explain this..... its a vurmb,,, vurmb,, vurmb, vurmb vvvuuuurrrmmmbbbbb noise. it seems to get louder and more defined as the engine gets hotter. it's a lot more obvious when you plant the accelerator it occurs between 1200 and 2500rpm at 1200rpm it has about a 0.7 second gap between vurbm noises gap decreases progressivly until 2500rpm where it just blurs into one continuous vurbm noise. any theories out there? or ring a bell with anyone? any help much appreciated... 92' G60
  23. If you have no luck with the ignition switch. Have a look at your distributor.
  24. I'd second that. Mine went on my 16v and it I had to first remove one of an old passat at the scrappy and then fit it to mine which involves dropping the exaust etc etc. it's not a quick job!!
