Hi guys. My battery keeps going flat after a week of no driving. I charge it up and it starts. Ive tried a solar trickle charger on it once fully charged and it still goes dead. I know the corrado draws a lot of battery power, but I charged the battery fully and disconnected the positive terminal. I reconnected it today after a week and it was dead. Do you think I need a new battery. Id like to disconnect the battery when the car is not in use and just reconnect it when I want to go for a drive. Will the new battery go flat when not in use if disconnected?

Apologies people, It was an optical illusion, just measured them both and theyre the same size. Feel a bit of a dolt :cuckoo:

VR6. It looks exactly the same as your pic and my steering wheel in my corrado only its bigger. Ill measure both steering wheels and post them up.

Hi Guys. I recently bought an oem steering wheel off ebay, It was advertised as a corrado leather steering wheel off a VR6. Its in good condition and is leather but is larger than the one on my car. I prefer the smaller one and wondered if they came in different sizes or do you think its not from a corrado?

Ok, rained nice and hard today which normally leaves my carpets soaked. They have not got wet so looks like replacing the foliage grill seal has worked.

Ive a similar thread going and mine had a cable like that but it had been routed through the mesh rather than through the seal. Another member (Rick) kindly pointed out that it was the supply to the air con recirculator. So if you have air con I guess that what it is. Like others have said it won't seal like that and when you change the seal you should not put the cable under the new seal. You can pour water around the area to see if its leaking but the only way to visually see if the seals knackered is to remove the foliage grill and look at the seal on the underside. Mine was knackered. When i replaced mine, I also put some sealent round the outside of the foliage grill.

Sunday afternoon in daylight i placed some silicone all around my new seal for good measure and waited for the silicone to set and refixed all the trims. Tonight I poured a large jug of water down the windscreen and had a good look under the glove box for any drips. Fingers crossed, it looks like it has worked as there are no drips :D Hopefully this will stop my carpets getting wet, providing I haven't got 2 (or more) leaks. Weird thing is, the rear passenger carpet seemed wetter than the front where the drip is and its parked on a slight downhill slope :confused4: Ill update, once it rains real hard (shouldn't have to wait long).

Hi Dokko. "Beneath them is a sort of triangular brownish material that feels like rubber. Removed this and it's absolutely saturated with water" Is this not the same as the sound deadening material found underneath the carpets? Mine is wet although I have managed to dry the carpets out considerably with a wet vac, I reckon I need the summer sun to get everything dry. 8)

Right, I tackled the replacement seal on the foliage cover today by following the excellent wiki guide. It is pretty straight forward but I have something in my blower hole thats not shown on the wiki. Whatever it is its been previously disconnected and the wires taped up. Anyone know what it is? Ive attached a pic. It got dark and I had to put pieces back quickly so not had chance to see if its stopped the water ingress. Job for tommorrow :D Dsc00786.jpg[/attachment:20gyruv2]

Have you really had success with the RainX stuff? I tried it and it did absolutely nothing! My windows on the inside were always steamed up/condensating and wouldn't clear with the blowers on. I used the anti fog stuff and they are no where near as bad. I also left the rear which kept fogging up and used some on it the other night and its clear. I personally don't like the rain repellent on the outside as I find that although the water beads off it,it smears the windscreen.

Hi guys. Where is the ISV on the VR6? Want to give it a good clean. Ive done a quick search and found a pic of the engine bay labelled up for another engine on this thread http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=65020&hilit=isv. Is there a similar pic someone can post for the VR6 please :D

Can you still buy the genuine VR6 steering wheel brand new (mines a bit worn ontop). Also Ive got a VW replacement gearknob, how do you get it on? I thought it just unscrewed but it dosen't.

Id agree, your seats are in pretty good order. I use autoglym leather cleaner & care cream and am generally happy with the feel. They do give quite a gloss finish and I prefer matt so am going to try something different next time. I don't think you will get rid of the creases with a liquid. Although they can be renewed to a new condition by sanding them down and redyeing them. Not done it myself but there are some posts on here about it.

My windows fog up too as my carpets are wet. Its not a solution to the problem but Ive used an anti fog liquid on the windows and it helps a lot. Its by the rain x people.

Thanks Jammin, I getcha now. The Plastic (ECU cover) is all bent out of shape so water could very well be getting down the air intake hole as well as the seal. Im going to put a polythene rubble sack over the area until I get chance to do things properly. I will update the thread and let you guys know if its worked
-
Hi Jammin. I had loads of leaves around the grill and have removed what I could. I was hampered at the time by the plastic guard which Ive since looked up how to remove. Gonna try the silicone next. Not sure where the ECU cover is yet but I guess its in the vicinity(Only had the car a couple of weeks). Inside the car, the water is dripping from inside the lowest piece of plastic below the glovebox and cubby hole below glovebox. Is this the fan housing or should I be looking in the engine bay to see any water on the fan blower motor?
-
Ive just made a post on my similar thread. Ive got some water coming in under the plastic cowling beneath the glovebox which could be the air intake seal perished. Have a look on yours.
-
Ive just noticed with a torch, that there is a slow but constant dribble coming out from under the plastic cowling that sits under the glovebox. It was raining at the time. Does this sound like the seal round the air intake problem? I don't think its the doors as the angled bit of carpet is dry, only the carpet on the floor is soaking.

Can't believe I didn't see this thread, Ive just posted an almost exact problem. I was wondering if a car cover would prove your heater matrix is leaking, ie no rainwater could get in and therefore it would be the matrix losing coolant?
-
Alright guys. Currently the car has no MOT so is sat on my drive and has not been driven. My passenger side carpets are absolutely soaking front and back. Ive checked the posts on this and was hoping you could help me rule a couple of things out. Im hoping its not the heater matrix as I was told it had been done in the past. It blows hot air no problem. The carpets have got much wetter since we have had the heavy rain so would that indicate a different area? Ive checked the scuttle area and it was full of leaves which I cleared but this hasn't stopped the problem. I didn't silicone the base of the foliage grill though which im going to try. Ive not checked the door membrane as Id like to do this last as Im not that confident although the door cards don't feel wet. I can't see any water around the sunroof. If i put a car cover on presumably the carpets should dry out unless the matrix is leaking? Any advice appreciated. Mark

Saw these on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VOLKSWAGEN-CORRADO-NEW-FLAT-FUSION-WIPER-BLADES-19-19_W0QQitemZ360012123175QQihZ023QQcategoryZ9889QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem wondering if anyone had got them and are they any good/easy to fit?
-
Im no mechanic but the symptoms sound like either valve stem seals or piston wear. I would presume when the head was rebuilt they would have changed the seals. They should have also carried out a compression/leak down test to eliminate piston wear. If the car is burning oil at the rate you say the plugs will foul like they are and you will have to keep cleaning them to stop the missfire. It could also damage your cat.
-
Is the car burning oil at all/any blue smoke?
-
He knew it only had a months MOT and if it passes or not its not your problem. Had you put 12 months MOT on it you would have probably got more money for the car. Like you say the MOT failure items are minor and could happen on any car. He is the unreasonable one and I wouldn't let it worry you anymore m8.
