  1. If you think about if for a couple of mins and realise the little brackets have to hold onto the member in a certain way then there's only one way the bushes can go on.
  2. I think the mk4 rears are better as they are aluminium alloy and not iron, so they won't rust.
  3. Great news thanks mate! No I've never been to a meet at the stadium. If it's anything like some other oxford vw club meets, I'm not sure how good it will be to be honest! My experiences are they're not very friendly, and if you're car isn't elite spec then no-one really cares at all. Kinda sad really. If you find it's quite good, or feel like going in convoy that would be cool :D i might be able to rope Prod into it also, to bolster the C convoy! :D
  4. :D well i could do with the lower seating position! I am glad I have a sunroof cutout in the lining, just about leaves clearance! What are you look at for the seats? I've got a mint rainbow in there at the mo so I should be able to sell that on for a few pennies. Is fitting a corrado bench in a golf very difficult?
  5. shame you've moved away from Oxford matey, would have been nice to have seen this at least once! plans for the red seats?
  6. So, i'm back in the UK now after having married my south african lady in Africa :D was a great time, ad even though there weren't many people from m side there, it was great to share the occasion with Jo's extended family. So, as I have no time to do the cambelt (and nowhere!) I have booked it in to a garage opposite the office in Newbury. They were more than happy to fit the kit I supply, Gates Powergrip, and I also talked to them about tuning the digi a little bit. From our phone convo they seemed to know their way around it, but i'm sure if they just swap the belt and retime the engine I will be able to do the rest thanks to some new sensors and tony_ack's guide. I feel a little sad about chequebooking this job as I'm a huge advocate of doing any and all work yourself as much as possible. The corrado is still on bro's drive as our flat is quite small and has no real space to work on a car, so trying to work on the daily means farming it out unfortunately. I'm hoping to put the new centre box on soon though, and have also ordered some bits and bobs from VW Spares (brake pads, wipers, stat housing and seal, etc etc) so will be nice to get those little things done.
  7. Hey everyone, back from Africa this week. The wedding was superb, and honeymooning in Cape Town was amazing! One of Josie's uncles has some $$$ so he let us use one of his apartments in Camps Bay for a week. The penthouse of same apartment is rented out for about 1000 a day to film crews etc! Incredible. We also had the use of a Mk4 GTi (20vt) with free petrol which was ace! I think she got a bit too used to the leathers and the climatronic!! Was nicer to drive than I expected, not much n the go dept as standard though. Our pics are still on discs / SD cards so will try to get some shots up soon. Nothing doing on the plum at the mo. I need to put new seals in the hydraulic arm on the engine crane before i take the dead KR out, then I'm thinking perhaps an ABF just to be different. Pics as and when. Cheers, Jon. Husband.
  8. Hey now. My pas rack has been leaking, dead (or disconnected [new]) ever since I've had the car so I guess i'm just used to it. I prob won't take thepas one off as I've already bolted it to the subframe so it's kinda stuck on there for good unless I want the fun of getting the crimped bolts out! I'm hoping to get a lot more updates on the car in future months :D I'm speaking to the missus about allowing a budget for Plum stuff! Sigh.
  9. Off to Africa tomorrow for 3 weeks to get married and honeymoon in the Cape, should be fun :D on Plum news, I'm playing with the idea of putting a mk2 golf manual steering rack on. Easier to turn, more turns lock to lock and no obsolete PAS lines or pump needed! Plus I can keep the rebuilt rack for the Golf. I don't know what you all moan about, the Corrado isn't THAT heavy to steer.
  10. I was constructive on page 1, and felt I had to make up for it
  11. you can have my Plum for £2k. Plus a twix. PM me.
  12. I think they're a garage/workshop Karl.
  13. Maybe you should change your user name to EnthusiastPwned?
  14. I still can't work out the difference between early and late panels, despite parking my early next to a late every day! t's a big con if you ask me. ok ok, the bonnet is obvious but the rest not so much.
  15. I love it when people mask off their number plates instead of editing them on the computer
  16. sounds like english isn't their first language if you're quoting direct from the auction.
  17. ^^^ great response!!! Once when Jo asked me why I need the Corrado AND the golf, I asked her why she needed more than one pair of shoes. But I just ended up getting confused by her use of "matching outfits" and "colour co-ordinating" so I don't really feel I won that one.
  18. So I'm off to Africa on wednesday to get married :D As I'm away for 3 weeks, I'm thinking it's the perfect time to throw the car at a garage (esp as i'm now working and have some £££!) and get them to do the cambelt and time everything after. What costs am I looking at? I've already bought a Gates Powergrip cambelt kit for the car, c/w belt, tensioner and tensioner bolt so ihopefully i'm just looking at labour. Cheers, Jon. ---------- Post added at 09:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:40 PM ---------- Forgot to add, if they're a bosch specialist i'd like them to look at the tuning too (I know you've shown me a lot, tony_ack!) as they might as well seeing as they'll have to re-time the whole engine. Ta.
  19. Ok cool. One question: would a dead BTS also show this error and not advance when reconnected to the loom? Just a thought really! Thanks for the continued help - i should pay you an hourly rate!
  20. Ok ok, maybe I was being a bit ambitious. I lost the tailgate in the end. Javascript died on me right at the crucial moment, and it went for £43 :/ never mind. I think mine does indeed need a good seeing to. I doubt anyone will want to tune it whilst it needs a cambelt though. I will order a knock sensor once I'm back from honeymoon. Wow, new floor panels! That's good to know. I'll have a look on their site and see what I can find! I'm guessing they're weld in items? ---------- Post added at 11:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:02 PM ---------- if anyone knows of someone who will tune bosch digi (pref VW specialists) I'd be interested in contacting them. Perhaps I could get them to do my belt at the same time. I imagine they'll need to check the timing to tune the digi, so why not do it at the same time as a fresh cambelt! Only thing which stops me is labour - £££. Haven't paid for it in years!
  21. Shouldn't you post this in the Wanted section? Someone out there might have a black bonnet for you to save you from this carnage.
  22. Ok. A loose or split hose you would notice and most likely smell, as G12 smells like sweets and due to the system pressure it'd be coating other things under the hood. Thermostat fits a "hot top hose, cold bottom hose" scenario. Waterpump also fits. When my pump went, it constantly overheated and boiled all it's water out of the tank overflow which would explain why it was pooling underneath there. Best bet is to swap the pump AND stat. I'd also recommend going for the solid water pump pulley from a mk2 golf, and not the clutched item. This is what failed on mine. hth, Jon.
