  1. Cheers matey :salute: I got my PM issue sorted out now too, you should see my new wishbones - they're custom :norty:
  2. i have that same tube! i used castrol LM grease on my bearings - also available from halfrauds - just depends on what the store has in stock i guess. keep us updated as usual pal :)[/quote:394zew7j] The steering rack grease tube from VW?! I had to special order mine from Munich! Maybe you got the last UK one :censored:  Ah yeah, LM sounds good to me, cheers!
  3. Thanks you guys! I still have a massive tube of steering rack grease. I wonder whether it is suitable for high speed bearings - probably not. Oh well, anyone need a rack refurbing?! :norty:
  4. Ah thanks Judith! I'll pop down there then. Need some brake cleaner before I put the discs on anyways :salute: :D
  5. Just realised my febi rear wheel bearings don't come with a little pouch of grease. I think when I did the Jetta's bearings, I used some thick grey stuff - could be lithium grease? Anyone got any pointers? :confused4: Thanks, Jon.
  6. This isn't the best forum to ask on mate. Try Edition 38 or No-Rice for that kind of specific info :salute:
  7. Yeah as Toad says, you could try some Hermatite or other instant gasket stuff - auto factors should stock it. I don't think PTFE / Plumber's tape will do much as there isn't a thread for it to get squeezed against?
  8. awesome awesome work with that leather mate! looks amazing  pretty good work all around through the project too, it's always nice to see attention to detail! I'll give it a proper read in the morning :salute:
  9. Hi mate, you sure can replace that; the problem is that the housing has probably warped too, so you should pick one of those up aswell. O-ring (part number: 535121687) Plastic housing (part number 535121647) Bolt washers x2 (part number N 0122265) Bolts x2 (part number N 0103664 55mm long, or N 0102228 for the 22mm items) Whole lot should be around £15 I think. hope this helps, Jon.
  10. See what I did there? I should be in advertising. 8)
  11. Reading original post, "getting hot" would point to air intake temps at the manifold, hence why an FMIC was suggested as a cure. Yes, running lean would put you down on power and I also agree that you would melt a piston with the fuelling and heat issues over summer.
  12. the gearbox mount should look like a flycing saucer: steel disc in the middle with rubber either side. the pics on AVS are normally pretty good. Hope you get it sorted!
  13. it involves maths :dorky: I love it  :luvlove:
  14. On the RSX I don't think the knob is on the top by the tiop munt, I think it's just above the bottom mount where it enters the hub. That's what Google is telling me anyways :dorky:
  15. be careful with WD40, it may contaminate your brake fluid.
  16. generally, more than 2 is for looks and people who love ditches. Davidwort has put up the correct value in minutes.
  17. I doff my cap to you sir, what a find! :chef:
  18. That's a good list Jay. I don't know why the Red C's seem to be low maintenance but people seem to be spending less on them, or getting better deals all over the shop! Riley sold his £225 one recently for a profit too!
  19. you'll need a 36mm (IIRC) spanner and Mr. T to do track rods, or do you just mean the ball joints at the end? bushes I farmed out to a garage, cost me about £20 in labour - i supplied beam and bushes.

you want to know what you've spent over leathers? filthy newbies :nono:
  21. ooooh oooh, I'm saying 5! No wait, 7........ 10?!
  22. they're not substantially different, it's very subtle! not many people could tell them apart.
  23. links snap, mounts are just rubber so either crack or go soft. Get both anyways.
