  1. http://www.vwspares.co.uk Much better than GSF in quality, much better than VW in price. A happy medium. 90% of my chassis has their stuff on it now.
  2. Cheers mate, yeah can be a bit slow going at the mo! I'm halfway through a design project on SW but it's soooo sunny outside and I'm tempted to get the discs and bearings on the stub axles...
  3. Fair enough, odd that a car magazine would cover it then.
  4. I read a mag article about Hartge making them, plus with a proper price made me think that they were churning out a few.
  5. Yeah, I only received the thrust washer, cap and circlip - never seen that yellow thing before! Be careful with the breaker bar, I snapped a 1/2" extension on mine clean in two when doing the CV! Also don't listen to the haters about factor parts - until one of them shows me some science and maths with stress plots (preferably von mises, and additional x y and z plane plots :dorky: ) PROVING that a factor part broke where a VW part wouldn't have done then I cast it all aside
  6. They were always planning to put that engine in it sometime down the line, that's why the bay is huuuuuuuge. I'm sure they've done the maths! They were charging £70k for it when Hartge were initially churning them out.
  7. 2k with purchase yeah. I wouldn't like to guess at what some people on here have spent! I think Stoney wins most £££ for paint though!
  8. Man, reading back over just the first 10 pages of this thread fill me with emotions, good and bad! The car has come a long way. I think we're into £2000ish territory now.
  9. Thanks fla, replacing parts is the price I paid for wanting a cheap C with goodish bodywork. I still have to sort the PAS at the front end, buy some samcos (and do the cross-members whilst the radiator is out) and the G60 braks. Plus try and work out if the low comp issue is a blown HG from killed water pump or the rings. If the block has gone, I'll try to limp it through MOT emissions and then build up my spare item over the next few months/year or so.
  10. Well done Laura! Always good to fix something
  11. cheers matey, I will bear that in mind with the caliper hoses! :brickwall:
  12. Yeah, I was thinking about that when 3CM posted up his wiggly hard lines  I'm trying to work out whether the suspension will bottom out before the beam hits the chassis at the mo.
  13. Got the rear suspension on plus all the brake lines tightened this avo with the help of Mr. and Mrs. Prodigal  :salute: Ahhh, at last... New teacake hats for the top mounts, and a rear bench made from carbon fibre  The sunny side. Used the jack to raise the beam up whilst aligning top mounts on the dampers. Got a few mud avalanches off the petrol tank, but it wasn't so bad with my safety glasses on :dorky: Now I have the advantage 8) :cuckoo: This afternoon I will be mainly rooting out the new: stone shields, stub axles, bolts for stub axles, wheel bearings, disc brakes, calipers, carriers, guide pins and bumf. hopefully put those on tomorrow all being well. Ahhh, easter hols :norty:
  14. @corsameal: Found this picture of my old beam and hard lines - looks like it goes straight to me, but this could well be a replaced line
  15. Check my thread, I bought these just this past week. Barely £2 each at the dealers, well worth changing. Part number - 357611797
  16. RM will tell you a rough international price for delivery based on weight, try it out on their website. UK to Bosch should give you a rough figure for how much the krauts may charge.
  17. interesting to put the air filter right by the IC.
  18. I got one of these for christmas, but not booked it yet. Is there a massive waiting list Jim? IIRC I think the track for mine is Andover way, can't remember which it is though.
  19. love those wheels mate, multispokes always look good :D
  20. That's one way to check the bias valve I guess  Keep the updates coming!
  21. Yeah, could well be the brackets I guess! Think I read about the C using that beam on here, so could well have been
  22. notice how he goes absolutely WOT to flick the front end round - you can tell by the second bucket of smoke coming off the front. My uni friend was working that weekend on the green and black honda civic for the Halfords team.
  23. Do you mean rear bushes Matt? I thought the Corrado used a Passat beam so should be the same
  24. I think it'll be less than 80hp Steve, My old 1.8 8v Jetta used to make about that at 10:1 compression, so a G60 at 8:1 may make 70hp, maybe less?
  25. There's no such thing as Nugget Yellow; they're the white ones that have been around too long
