I know right!! :cry: Currently keeping my eyes peeled for a KJet fuel pump. I'm hearing stories of £500+ dealer items :pale: oh, and I lost my usb stick today with a kickass woven carbon fibre report on due friday, so I gotta write that up from scratch tomorrow. Awesome :bad-words:

Wow, you did well to narrow it down: A rattle after installing a VT mount could have been so many things! My money was on something very obscure deep in the belly of the dashboard. Those mounts really don't like cabins... -
smaller inlets??? no wonder the 16v is hurting for power. :(

Unfortunately Pete_griff's tools had to go back this week, so I've been buying some bits and bobs to get me through the front end pipes which I won't be doing for another few weeks: The Zone of Tools, that's where I am. This baby will help me finish up those double flares. Brand new OSF G60 caliper less than £30 without exchange - which was nice. M10 male connectors for attching brake lines to master cylinders, line connectors, hoses and calipers alike. 10/11mm brake line spanner aka the funny spanner with a bit missing so you can get it back off brake lines when stuff is tight :nuts: Tengtools pipe cutter. Still need a de-burrer but might use a file for that. The pipe join which, IIRC, goes between the NSF caliper hard line and the hard line which runs along the firewall to the m/c. T-piece still on order. Found a place online that does 25ft of CuNi pipe for just over £10! well happy. Prod needs a brake line too, so I'm sure all these bits will get used pretty regularly. My pipe bender is still on order too, but that's ok.

Jon, you want low end torque AND a push at 4000rpm?! Good luck finding that without variable valve timing mate.

replace it with some metal bendy ducting (a la halfords style) if you must. It's been -11 in Oxford recently, although it's a lot warmer now!

Tim, are you sure your control module is still working? This has a circuit which controls the windows and another that does the central locking I think. It can be found hidden behind the rear offside doorcard (this will be the clicking you can hear). Definitely worth checking - I didn't even have one! start your own thread mate, you have more chance of someone seeing that you need help. I severely doubt you have to break a doorcard to repair a latch though.

You can have it if you like chris. Someone swapped it with me for a rear lighting circuitboard, but I have no use for it and Prod's driveshafts are fine. I'll see if I can get it down to the Southside meet, or do you need it sooner?

I'm pretty sure the G60 shafts are the fatties having been under Prodigal's last weekend to replace some diff cup bolts on his. The Mk2 Golf ones look identical, I have a spare O/S one and it's definitely fatter than mine. The 16v ones are quite thin aren't they! Not sure why this is to be honest, remember talking about this sometime last year though.

DW, you are a wizard if you can get the EZ Bleeds to work! Mine píssed out fluid all over the place, could never get it to seal properly on the reservoir.

Ah cheers blue, I'll have a look into them then. Prodigal bought a brand new fuel return line when he was having fume issues in the engine bay, turned out to be one of the rubber hoses that had gone, so the blue line is still up for grabs! :norty:

Thanks corsameal and pete :D motivation can waver unfortunately, but the weather's turning now so hopefully it'll be done shortly! I've budgetted about £650 of my loans over the summer to getting this finished and only spent about £100 so far so, touch wood, nothing else will go wrong (although I'm yet to sort the fuel pump :pale: ) Met up with Supercharged yesterday, saw the Corrado TDI which was very impressive despite Steve's issues with bodywork. I think a reshell would be a quality project sometime matey! Loved the rondells too :luvlove: It's nice to see another Burgundy around :D Haven't got much further on the car this weekend due to having a cold and hacking up what can only be described as yellow underseal (mmmmm) but I am getting further with having the brake lines finished. Took me a while to work out that there's a hardline from the bias valve to the brackets either side, then a hose to the beam (to allow for movement) then another hardline which snakes its way down each trailing arm to the stub axle area and then another hose to the rear calipers. Phew! Luckily Pete_Griff had left some awesome photos on my computer so that was really useful, cheers mate! Updates as I do them and pictures when they're taken :grin:

I'm confused aclwalker. The piston inside the m/c connects integrally to the sprung pushrod inside the brake servo: I don't think at any point in time is any part of the piston exposed to the elements? :shrug: Also, if the m/c seals tore when the brake was fully depressed for a period of time, wouldn't that make emergency stops really dangerous?

Ouch! That's a lot of money. Corsameal, do you use club / CCGB discount? I just flashed my red and silver card at them about a year ago and ever since I get trade on everything. It's really good. Probs would have cut up to £50 off that bill there :salute:

After some light research, it does seem that the original engine in your car is a worked on Oettinger engine. They put that engine in the Mk1 Golf too as a special edition. Just google "Oettinger E/16" and translate the pages.
