I wasn't very clear in my first post. What I mean is seeing as though I'm going to rebuild the rear calipers (assuming all the parts are available) is there any point in upgrading to the mk4 golf ones. I don't imagine a set of refurbished standard calipers are going to sieze up on me any time soon?. I'm aware that the only benefit is the handbrake mechanism is enclosed and less prone to siezing on the mk4 golf.

Hi, I'm gathering parts to upgrade the standard brakes on my Corrado vr6. I've got a pair of 288mm front calipers to go on and I've just been chatting to C&R enterprises who do a lot of conversions and sell brake upgrade kits. Thanks the pictures are a big help. Ive already tightened the screw in an attempt to stop the handle pulling away but eventually it works its way loose again and never fully pulls back into the door so i suspect the white clip or something else is causing me problems. Ill have a word with my local vw spares guy and see if they can still get hold of the weather membranes and putty to stick it on with failing that its going to be a rummage around ebay i guess. Has anyone fitted one of VW heritages outer scraper seals? Whats the trick to getting them in without causing any damage? Cheers.

Hi, can anyone recommend a good mobile dent specialist in the North-East. Im near middlesborugh. Somehow my bonnet has picked up a nasty dent on the front edge. Im not even sure if it could be pulled out but want to get a specialist to have a look, cheers.

Thats the clip, that would explain why the handle was pulling out of the door then! thanks. Those VAGcat drawings will be helpful in the rebuild so once again thanks. What have people done to replace the plastic weatherproof sheet and to reattach it?

Im offshore working at the moment, I don't have any pictures of this white plastic piece unfortunately, i was hopeing someone who has rebuilt a door might know what im talking about and have a useful workshop drawing I could refer to.

Is anyone familiar with a white plastic clip that should go somewhere in the door that might account for the glass rattling when I close the door?. Has anyone any experience of the outer scraper seals that are being reproduced by VW heritage? If anyone has a good workshop exploded diagram of a door they could share with me that would be a big help, thanks.

Hi there, im wanting to sort a few problems with my drivers door. I managed to damage the original drivers door with some dodgy reversing and a lamppost a while back. I rushed into the first bodyshop that said they could fix it as everytime I looked at the car I was reminded of what an idiot I had been. To say I was let down by them is a big understatement. I provided them with a good second hand door which they attempted to rebuild. They ruined two scraper seals along with not fitting anything else properly. There was excessive wind noise and even the paint job wasn't that great. I took it back a few times but gave up on them ever being able to sort it out and ive been living with these issues for a while now. Even the glass rattles in the door when the door is closes and the handle is pulling away from its mounting point now. Ive decided enough is enough, its time to strip it all and start again. If anyone has a good diagram of how everything is supposed to go id really appreciate a look. I remember fromn stripping the old door there was a small white plastic clip attached to the glass. I think this may have been fitted incorrectly or not put back at all. Ive bought a new door handle which I managed to find second hand and ive ordered a new outer scraper seal from VW heritage as they have started to reproduce them fortunately. If anyone has any tips or advice for successfully putting everything back how it should be that would be great.

Hi, I've been looking into a new set of alloys for my vr6 and quite like these; http://www.jdmdistro.com/shop/17-wheels/work-vs-xx-8/ Obviously the pcd is wrong. Does anyone know if these wheels are available with 5 X 100 pcd? Would those offsets work?. If the correct pcd wheel isn't available is it possible to get them to fit?

The calipers I have are ATE. The problem is ordering parts from vw who can't distinguish between either manufacturer. All I can do is use the above reg number and hope that all cars from that year had ATE calipers fitted.

Does anyone know the difference between the Lucas and ATE 288 calipers? I contacted vw and big red to get prices for the rebuild parts. Big red told me that the two types are different. Vw can't distinguish between them either. There are some parts big red don't supply like the guide bushes so need to know I'm getting the right parts from Vw if anyone can help? I don't have a chassis number I can supply Vw either or know when either ATE or Lucas were used.

Hi mate, so are the mk3 golf carriers the same as the TT ones? Any reason why they have been used together like that?. So I just need to order a caliper piston seal kit for a mk1 audi TT then?. I was wondering if there was a specific hose I could use that was the right length as you mentioned the ones you had used were much longer than needed. Cheers.

Hi there, I've just bought a pair of 288 mm calipers and carriers but not sure what car they are off. I was told they might have been off a mk1 audiTT. Are all 288 calipers and carriers the same?. I'm planning on stripping and rebuilding them so need to order a seal kit bit not sure what kit to order if anyone can help? I'm also unsure what connection hose will work if there is anything off the shelf?. Appreciate any help with this, thanks

I've read lots of good things about power flow. I had the car in for its test and the exhaust got away with an advisory which buys me some more time before having to replace it. Is it possible to repair? It's the back box that has a small hole in it and I wondered if this could be welded for now or is it not made from plain steel?.

It's just the rear silencer that has a hole in it but I have the type that is built into the centre section as opposed to just the rear silencer alone. Timmaaah if you could get a close up of your exhaust that would be great.

Hi, I've been looking into a replacement for my blowing standard exhaust. As anyone who has replaced their standard VR6 system recently knows you can't just drive into your local tyre and exhaust specialist and order a standard exhaust off the shelf as they don't exist anymore (unless anyone knows of somewhere? ). My options now are aftermarket systems. I had a look at a miltek stainless system but didn't really like the look of the tail pipe, too bulky for me. I'm after a stainless system that isn't in any way loud or intrusive and has a tailpipe that resembles the standard system. If anyone can comment on whats available and ypur experiences id really appreciate that, thanks.
