Im hoping some of you knowledeable chaps out there might be able to help. Im trying to mount the main supercharger bracket to my 9a block and having a few difficulties. Im building a 16vg60 engine and using a 9 block. I dont have the original g60 bolts at the moment which are obsolete but im wondering if there is any difference between a g60 water pump and a standard 16v 9a pump which may be causing my problems?. Also can anyone tell me where I might get the proper bolts from or better still have a set?

The four bolts that hold the water pump to the block and allow the charger bracket to be bolted onto to them if anyone can help please.

Anyone got one of these lying around?

Cheers for the feedback, ive ended up going for an NGK coilpack at an eyewatering price of £180. Hopefully it will stand the test of time.

Hi there im just about to replace my second coilpack on my corrado vr6. This one was second hand and a beru one I think so ive probably been lucky its lasted this long. Ive tried vw and they cant get them anymore. The next place I tried can get hold of an NGK for £180 or a motoquip for £130. What have other people used and how are they lasting?. Are there any to avoid? Is this a common problem for the coilpacks to go?

Great input thanks everybody! Im pretty familiar now with how the system is supposed to work after lookimg into it and now im looking for the correct equipment to read these codes for myself. Ill have a good read through the links youve posted thanks. The abs speed sensor rotors are still available from vw for the very reasonable price of £10 so ive purchased two as ive noticed the ones fitted are slightly bent and pretty corroded. Im not will to destroy my good wheel bearings just yet though in fitting them before some fault finding has taken place.

Thanks for the feedback jim. What problems were you having? Is it a usb lead that your plugging into the abs ecu or a serial connection?. I assumed id be plugging into the obd port near the gearstick? Do you actually plug straight onto the abs ecu and if so how do I get at that?. Is there anyone who has bought there own equipment and successfuly read the abs codes?
-
Would someone be kind enough to at least point me in the direction of whether or not I can actually read abs fault codes on my car?. If so what equipment is needed to do the job properly? Cheers.

There are plenty of aftermarket sensors available but according to my local vw parts department that sensor is obsolete through them. Im not sure of the quality of any of these aftermarket sensors though, maybe someone with experience of them can comment?. As for the rotor I know they can be seperated from the hub and have a separate part number, just waiting to hear back from vw om that one, has anyone bought an aftermarket rotor for the front?. Yes it must have been me getting in before you, shocked that the price has gone up further! Expensive enough already. It is a great resource though and beats trawling through a disc!.

Hi there ive spent hours reading through abs related posts on this site and have just got myself a new hardback bentley manual at the eye watering price of £72 from amazon. If I stood on it id be about 8 foot tall, quite a beast!. Anyway I still have a few questions. The car is a 1995 VR6, is there any easy way of establishing which abs system my car has? There appear to be two types and im not sure which i have. The Yellow light of doom as been mocking me for months now and seeing as though I need to investigate a knocking noise coming from the front and replace track rods and ball joints before having my camber set I thought id look into the abs issue whilst the front end is in bits. The light stays on no matter what and from what ive gathered this could likely be something more serious that just a sensor/rotor problem. From what ive read the abs module can be checked for error codes, is this the case for my car and if so what do I need to check it myself and where would I get that equipment from?. Is there any way of resetting the light other than with a fault code reader?. What ive found so far is that the drivers side rotor is bent and corroded badly so im going to have to change it. This leads me to my next question, are aftermarket rotors up to the job along with aftermarket Sensors? Any aftermarket manufacturer s better than others or worth avoiding? Im waiting to hear back from my local vw parts guy but it looks like the sensors are obsolete and the rotors are going to cost a fortune. Would appreciate any help on this, thanks.

I thought there might have been a workshop manual produced by vw with all the rebuild and testing information. I have one of these for a kr engine, thought there may have been something similar for the 9a?
-
Hi there, ive just bought myself a 9a engine which i believe were fitted to some corrados. Its to replace a KR engine i have and is to be the basis of a 16VG60 engine build as ive been told the 9a is a better block to use. I have a workshop manual for the KR which goes into great depth, full strip down/ rebuild/ testing procedures and i wondered if anything was available like this for the 9a engine. When did this engine first come into production and what cars were fitted with it?. Would my KR workshop manual be of any use or are the blocks too dissimilar for it to be relied upon.

Im close to buying a 9a engine but the seller cant locate the engine number on the block. Can anyone tell me where it should be? There is a 2.0 stamp on there. Is there any surefire way of knowing its a 9a engine either visually or by a stamp or number? Thanks.

Hi there can anyone tell me what vw engines ran a crankshaft sensor on the crank pully?. Im pretty sure the vr6 did. Im wanting to adapt an existing set up if possible to fit my kr engine. Its going to be a 16vg60 engine and im using a bahn brenner crank pully for the serpentine belt and the trigger wheel will be mounted to this. Just wanting to see what existing set ups there are if anyone can help?

Hi there the seats came out of a 1991 corrado g60. Black cloth with green. No rips or major wear, just a little on the bolster. Ill get some pictures up tomorrow.

Front and rear seats in excellent condition, I can email pictures to anyone interested. Price is £50, they would need to be collected obviously due to weight unless someone wanted to collect them or arrange for collection. Located in Ts15.
