bad times.... garage called, the caliper is nick nacked aswell, so new caliper and gona chuck some new pads on at the same time.. really wanted to get the mk4 caliper upgrade done while it was in instead of buying a new rear caliper but did some more research into it and the calipers arent going to be cheap so ill be staying with the normal rear calipers for now.... dont know when ill get it back :(

if i only i had the money spare.....

its not through yey, will only fail if the putty doesnt seal the crack enough for it to pass emissions, waiting for the garage to call :? voo your car looks superb by the way, i bet you are very pleased with it :D

well, the alpine went in for mot yesterday and was expecting it to fail on a couple of things, wiper blades and exhaust at least... anyhow, garage called, wipers were fine which was annoying as ive just bought a new wiper balde from vag, though they gave me the wrong one silly parts monkey! :bad-words: rear brake lines corroded badly, near side handbrake inoperable, and the brake compensator valve had seized.. and of course the exhaust.. so new brake lines would kinda be expected as the car is 17 years old and is still on the original lines, handbrake is simply a new cable needed and brake compensator valve is prob due to living right on the coast and all the salt in the air, theyve soaked it and freed it up as didnt need replacing, as for the exhaust its leaking from a few joins so needed to come off and be refitted anyway and the centre box has cracked but is under warranty as its a stainless system hopefully a bit of putty will do the job just to get it through the mot and then ill get the centre box replaced. i would of done most of these jobs myself but have no time due to work etc so its probably going to cost me circa £300,bad times but i geuss itssorted for another yearand i wont have to worry about it... will hopefully be going up to stonor park this weekend, with a cheeky bbq and camping expedition at toads place the night before, so i look forward to meeting some more of you this weekend... regards, Andy

Why its sometimes better to ring the Dealer first...
__Andy__ replied to Pat_McCrotch's topic in Suppliers Forum
what size splitter and what dealer was that from?? last quotei had from my local stealers for a 90ml was £126  i try to use the stealers as much as i can but my local ones are a, useless and b,incompetent i went in the other day to get a new wiper blade, gave them the part number and they still managed to give me the wrong one.. never get any discount either and they are so reluctant to help just because i dont have a brand new touareg etc, however i do have 2 corrado's which means ill probably be making more trips to the parts department then a touareg owner anyway  its getting that bad that im considering going all the way into the southampton branch now as the hedge end and portsmouth dealerships just havent been any good for me :( -
I have only made enquiries with them. They were V expensive, although they invited me to come and have a look at thier work when I mentioned BJV :) been to the wheel specialist and seen thier work, yes its good but its seriously expensive. to have two of my wheels refurbed (which in truth only really need painting as theres no kerbing) it was £150 including one centre cap painted, thats more then the price of a whole refurb at bjv including all centre caps (my caps are metal).. ive seen the quality of bjv's work and was really impressed with them, and they are very cheap...but i see the predicament your in, pop down there and see what they say.. maybe get the wheels refurbed at bjv and the centres painted at the wheel specialist lol..

They should fit, although I will need to check how many wheels will fit into the back of a mk2 Golf. Andy are you leaving your tyres on? martin, just had my mot this morning and its gona need: brake compensator valve seized, hand brake inoperable on drivers side and may need a new caliper, exhaust has multiple leaks and a crack in the centre box, rear brake lines are badly corroded and it needs some spring washers for the rear suspension, probably looking at around the £300 mark... :( :( :( so my wheels are going to have to wait for another month, im really sorry to mess you around martin, i really wasnt expecting it to fail on these things, knew the exhaust was a problem but not everything else.. hope this doesnt cause too much of a problem. my apologies again.

your rado may not be quicker, but who cares? the rado looks a million times better then a fiesta.. and the world and his wife have got fiesta's. i get much more pleasure from driving my corrado then i ever would driving a fiesta, everywhere i go the corrado turns heads, and people always stop to make conversation about it, you wouldnt get any of that from driving a fiesta... basically tell yor mate to get a proper car!
-
no probs martin, just thought it may be a bit cheaper if i get your buddy to take them off and refit them after, obviously im happy to pay him.. just its £30 more to have them taken off and put back on again at bjv.. what time you thinking of leaving next sat?
-
martin im more then happy to go with you next saturday so long as ive got the cash.. will need to get my tyres taken off first though, will your buddy be able to do it?
-
looking for a light anthracite with a nice sparkle and possibly a coloured lip but ill sort this out with you nearer the time martin, am more then happy to help out with the delivery i geuss taking them to them is the best option as my m8 in guildofrd deffinately cudnt accomdate all these wheels lol...
-
still waiting for my m8 to get back to me martin, have we had any joy on those 'mates rates yet?'
-
check your exhaust manifold heat shield, mine is making a similar sound to that at the moment and its rattling quite badly...
-
if theyve come off a golf and are four stud then they should be 4x100, as for the tyres im not gona say yes they would rub but id deffinately want to change them to 45 profile tyres.. hth
-
yes it will fit however bear in mind that it will probably be a late wing and as such will be slightly wider then the early wing..
-
its a difficult one buddy, i recently found myself in the same situation and decided that i would break it, i picked up another rado for not a lot of money at all with no tax and mot but has a full service history and 140k on the clock, general condition is very good with no major dents, couple of small car park dings in the doors but even they arent that bad. the whole thing cost me less then the price of a standard wheel refurb at bjv! ur best bet if your trying to sell it is put it on ebay with a low reserve, no offence but i think what your asking for the car given its got no mot and tax is too much, you can pick up a running 16v with tax and mot for under a grand.. and a fairly good vr for less then £2k. hth..

http://www.wheelrefurbishing.com/ Check thier web site for prices. I expect 15%+ discount :) let me know what you want to do martin as there seems to be quite a few people interested now, i think contacting bjv and trying to organise sum sort of group buy would be the best idea, would just be getting all the wheels to him at the same time..
-
looks alright does that... glad to see another one being saved..
-
I am always happy to drive up if your mate is snowed under :)[/quote:4zgwhtem] i will chase him this week, though unfortunately i cant expect him to house everyone that wants their wheels refurbed while were waiting for them to be picked up... i geuss driving up is a good option if theres a lot of people that want their wheels done, however im sure we'll be limited on space as i dont know how big martins trailer is...
-
lovely car buddy, am planning to do the same with my lights and fogs, is tht laminx film that you used? also, where did those wheels come from? i need them in my life!
-

-
i recently bought a retrofit aero wiper/blade on the bay for circa £5, literally just clips onto the existing rear wiper arm and works and looks 100 times better..
-
