Hi guys, I recently had both front wheel bearings replaced by Volkswagen in the UK. When they had the car they told me that there was a slight noise coming from the gearbox and that I had to monitor this (they changed the gearbox oil while they were at it too). So now a month or so later and I notice I get a slight droning, similar to the noise when i had the wheel bearing needed replacing, but I'm sure its only when I'm turning left at speeds over 50kph. :confused4: To cover myself, what costs am I looking at for a new or reconditioned gearbox, including labour? The car is a 1995 Corrado VR6 with 95,000miles on the clock with no engine mods. Cheers.

:( I've just e-mailed those dates to my mates.

Hi chaps, I'm lucky enough to live in Germany and only a couple of destricted Autobahn hours away from the Nurburgring...well, I finally think I'm going. I've bottled it a few times when mates of mine have gone, but its coming closer to when my time in Germany might be up, so its something I really want to do. I'm planning to go either the 8th or 9th of August, probably staying in a B+B there too. All I have to do is try to sort out why my car is currently getting a little hot (which will be another post!). Sooooo...is anyone else from The Corrado Forum up for it? Cheers.

Silver in preference generally...but now and again a matt black set of alloys on the right colour of car (or a Lotus in general!) look pimp. Those wheels on the Rallye would look cool on a Corrado. I even think standard Speedlines in gunmetal would look rather good.

I'm also looking, (unless my mate takes my car on) for someone to store my car from late Aug 2009 till Dec 2010. Are there any risks from storing my car so long without it being driven?
-
Peterborough? No thanks. You'd think someone who could afford to buy that kind of car would just move.

Meh. Rally shiz was good though :hitler:

Negative GhostRider... Ford no longer sell the part by itself (or they don't in Germany anyway). They are for sale on eBay for about 35 quid brand new. The guy has shit loads of them.

I guessed at a Nissan 370Z :cuckoo:

I'll trade you for a packet of space raiders?

1. Got it back from dealership. 2. Ragged it.

Got ass-raped by a German Volkswagen dealer. Again. CUNTS!!!!

You're all wrong. I am the Stig.

I love the look of that one from Dubpower, very cool looking, but I think the one from the Belgium chaps will do the job. Am I right in thinking that the manifold is the only part I'd need? As in, it would just be a 'bolt on' modification that I could get a garage to do? Whats the deal with wrapping the manifold? Is that the done thing? What and where on earth would I get such stuff? Or is it something I could request that a decent exhaust place could do? :confused4: I hate being a newbie, so many fucking questions!!! :mad2: On a side note, I'm going to get those HT leads, my VR6 is reaching 95,000miles and is on the original leads.

Scene Added Tax. Those wheels are a joke (especially at that outrageous price), and not even the kind of joke you're funny fat friend would say, the kind of joke that your Grandad would say, and take a whole 5 mins to explain, that he got in a Christmas cracker back in 1994 when it wasn't even funny then. Die.

Petrol has creeped up for me to...its now about 70 cents (59p) a litre of Shell V-Power Racing 100!
-
I'm still quite tempted to get one of these, they seem very priced. I'd like to know what a few peoples experience of them are...good or bad :D I had a 4-2-1 branch manifold on a Mk2 Golf GTi a few years back, but as I bought the car like that I obviously didn't notice any difference in performance/sound.

Whats the score with the all red tail lights fitted? Are they legal? I'd like to get some fitted to mine.
-
Nice work and nice review, although over a little too quick. Lovely example too, not sure you'd be able to get a decent one for 3 grand though...or, I hope not or I've lost a few quid in 2 years!

Soooo...basically, I've decided that I'm not going to bother with the SuperSports. I've only got the car for until August, then its going into storage for a year, or I'm loaning it to my mate back in the UK (but thats a whole other post!) Some point soon I'm going to have to look at replacing the suspension, I'll look at Weitec's and the H+R stuff. Cheers.
-
Thanks for the advice chaps, I guess I'll give it a miss then. So how much would it cost to, 'koni shocks and eibach (maybe h&r) springs' on my car?
-
Found out that they are a make called 'Super Sport'. Anyone used these before or got any opinions on them? :confused4:

Get 'em off Demon Tweeks mate, thats where I got mine from about 70 quid as I recall. Good purchase, just standby for the a labour invoice.

Chaps, Ive been offered some newish coilovers from a Passat VR6 (don't know the make yet, don't know how many Euros) and I realise there is a 40 page thread on suspension, but I'm not too concerned with peoples experiences with a particular brand (yet!). For now, I just want to get my head around coilovers. I used to have some on a Mk4 Polo for about a week yeeaaars ago that already had them on and was slammed -100mm when one of the struts 'blew' and I had to get the entire suspension changed for a normal -40mm setup. Basically, although I've had lowered suspension on other cars, its only been -40mm for any real length of time, so whats the advantage of having coilovers over a standard setup? I have no intention of adjusting the ride height, its simply that these particular coilovers (so I'm told) are in good nick and are going cheap. I've heard coilovers described as 'crashy' so I can only assume that driving over a pothole or a bump is emotional? I don't do any track racing, but I do like a sprited run when the conditions permit, I think lowering the car would really improve the looks and I imagine improve the handling making the car lower to the road. Bit of help please chaps...what are the pros, what are the cons? I have a '95 Corrado VR6 with new standard suspension and mounts on the front and suspension on the rear that could do with replacing. Cheers!
