Got a letter from the police (UPDATE Wed 4th Feb) ....
MonkeyVR6 replied to -Neil-'s topic in General Car Chat
Dear Supercharged, Its not and they do. It is not a personal letter from a DCI, it just has its name on it. A DCI does have much better things to do, hence some civvie or newbie cop would have created/ammended some generic template. Cheers, Mr. Policeman. -
Dude, while I do agree that a 2001 BMW M5 is as cool, if not cooler, probably faster than a Corrado and will be as reliable (or more reliable if everyone on here - bar me - with a VR6 tends to say), but its a fair whack of cash more than a Corrado*, plus I imagine that its running costs might be more expensive. Apart from the interior, which looks like those god awful seat covers from Halfords I have to admit it looks like a nice package. However, something which people might not be aware of, and something I consider important is that car looks to be an ex-squaddie car (owned by someone in HM Forces previously) and having that background and being responsible for policing them, in my personal experience, I'd be confident that is an ex 'ballon deal' car (something which BMW have recently stopped doing) and it will be have been ragged and ragged h-a-r-d. *= if this thread is about the next potential car that is of similar spec/price/availability etc of a Corrado

Serviced it, almost all my own doing too! :notworthy: Also cleaned the engine bay with a pressure washer, I was pretty nervous doing this, I also removed the engine cover and I'm currently deciding what colour to spray it.

Anyone have the part no's for timing chains and tensioners?

What mileage do the chains need replacing? I've just passd 90,000 miles and my engine is noisy :confused4: -

Almost €100 for a small engine hose at VW! HELP.
MonkeyVR6 replied to MonkeyVR6's topic in Suppliers Forum
Any idea of the part number? I'm struggling enough as it is trying to speak German. -
Ok, below are the photographs of a small hose that I've noticed is knackered (well, my mate did and tried to glue it hence the orange/yellow gunk), so I go to Volkswagen today and ask them for another one... €95 Which is about £85 in real money. The small hose is about 10cm in length! He showed me the ETKA thing showing all the various parts in the engine bay and by all accounts they no longer sell the small part I need by itself anymore, instead I have to buy a whole bunch of parts (think it included the big black plastic pipe that connects the the air filter) for that price :( The part no is: 310 129 615 I went to my local scrap yard, which has 4 Corrado's, but alas...not the part I need. Anyone got any other suggestions? Even if I claim the tax back the pipe is still €70 odd! :censored:

Point made chaps... :norty: I've just gone out and bought 6 litres of decent 5/40 oil, oil filter, sump bung and sump bung washer and 6 NGK Platnium spark plugs for less than €95 (£85ish in real money). All I need to do now is buy about €3/4 worth of petrol to clean my Pipercross air filter with.

Too keep it simple, get some Autogylm Super Resin Polish from somewhere like Halfords and then try a carnuba (sp?!) based wax after you've finished polishing the car. Clay barring doesn't need to be done that often, but makes a big difference if you've not done it in a while, or ever at all.

My car documents declare my car to be blue...however its purple!

"Ask an Officer" section of the forum...jeeeeeeesus, whatever next?! :camp: -
Is your Corrado on tracks?! Only thing I know that shifts on Salisbury Plain is a Challenger 2 tank!
-
I'm using a place called PV Autoteile in Bielefeld, rang them today and got a quote of €28 (£25.95) for 6 x NGK Platinum spark plugs and €34 (£31.50) for 5 litres of 5/40 oil (although I need 6 litres for an oil change, right?), so I'm happy enough with that. Oil change I can do easy, anything I need to do/be careful of taking off the spark plugs and fitting new ones? Cheers for the help fellas :)
-
I might be eating my words this week :( After the Peugeot banger needing new tyres, two front shocks for the Corrado and the tracking done and yet another bloody trip to Ikea and what seems to be the total colapse of the Pound Vs Euro I can't justify the costs of the dealership to do a 10,000 mile service. I only changed the coolant myself late December, so all I'm going to do is change the spark plugs, change the oil+oil filter and clean the Pipercross air filter. So, hopefully it won't put the future owner of the Corrado off, especially considering its 99.9% car history before this dark cloud?
-
Ya, but do I need NGK Ninja quardrule platinum bad boys, or will any old spark plugs do?
-
Off to the shops tomorrow to get spark plugs for the VR6, is there any particular kind I need to get? Do I have to get them from the dealership? Cheers ez. :help:
-
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/688506.htm I know this one is sold, but there are plenty of other examples to choose from. Its either this, or a Nissan 350Z that I'll get next.
-
Ok, so I got the tracking done on the Corrado today as I've recently changed the suspension shocks, mounts etc etc etc. The dude tells me that I need 2 new tyres on the front soon, which I was expecting, so I ask him how much they are for 205/50 Toyo T1-R's...80 Euros each!!! I've just checked blackcircles.com and they want £48 each, plus £10 for posting them to me, so think it was £106 in all, whereas here in Germany they wanted almost £150! Just goes to show how shit the Pound Vs Euro is at the moment, but even so I woudn't have expected such a difference in price :confused4:

I fookin' badly want one of these, I really must cancel the reminder I have set whenever somone replies to this topic...I can't stand the temptation! :? -
No increase in power at all? Oh... :? How about noise? Does it affect the sound of the exhaust, I'm still (thankfully!) using the standard Corrado exhaust.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-CORRADO-VR6-2- ... 7C294%3A50 or http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-Golf-Corrado-V ... 240%3A1318 Would a Corrado VR6 benefit from a branch manifold? Just curious to see if anyone is/or has used one of these?
-
Here you go mate :D viewtopic.php?t=22029&highlight=visible+schrick+vsr Cheers, thanks for that. Seems a bit expensive for the added performance gains, however its rare so I imagine the VW geeks would get a semi for it  I'd like so get a new 6-2-1 manifold, I used to have one on my Mk2 Golf (in 4-2-1 form obviously).

For the newbies...what is a VSR? :confused4:
