Mk4 Golf - Standard leather sports seats - vs- leather recaros?
Abdul replied to Portent's topic in General Car Chat
The recaros on the mk4 are far better IMO. In fact try and get hold of some out of an a3, mine had leccy lumbar support too which was nice. -
Respect!! Great story, I'm glad you've got it back mate. Its hard balancing family life and corrados isn't it lol.
-
I've been eyeing it up, need the flipping merc gone lol.
-
Thanks for the info Jim. I knew it wasn't twilight violet but couldn't put my finger on what it was. Lovely colour though.... ---------- Post added at 02:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:51 PM ---------- Oh man I'm guessing you missed the tail lamps? Lol
-
Hi guys, anyone know what colour this is? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/0d/VW_Corrado_16_V_%282010-04-12%29_ret2.jpg Doesn't look like blackberry to me, this seems to have a darker purple hue.... Thanks Abdul

Would be a big job but perfect car if you want to do a 'Renshaw' and literally chuck everything in, the front seats might have even gone in but they won't tilt. I'd say with some headwork, new exhaust, map etc you should tap 200bhp... Not worth it if you have the extra cash compared to a 4mo swap or better still 32... Oh and they're thirsty as hell, on a drive from london to reading and back with me in my merc (4.3 v8 ) and my mate in his golf v5, sitting at the same speeds the whole way we both used very similar amounts of fuel.
-
I do love it but blackberry isn't my preference. Either way I have something else I want, if that doesnt work out I'm open to ideas. I've pm'd Zak with some thoughts though. I need mine to go first aswell before I can buy another car. Do want to keep the merc but I can't have myself a dub and the merc as a daily driver as it's makes no sense financially. Running costs will be too high. Will probably get a decent estate in tdi form aswell as the toy. Thanks H

It's nothing fancy Jake, just something I've wanted for a while now. Link to the add http://the-corrado.net/classifieds.php?do=viewitem&itemid=1174

Hey guys, well this didn't last long, see I've been offered a car I've been after for quite some time and this specific car is very much a one off so the CLK's for sale to fund it, if it doesn't sell all is good as the car's awesome lol and it is up for sale too cheap but I don't want to miss this opportunity. Sorry about the lack of sound clips btw, I'll try sort some asap! Oh and I'm dying for a corrado too. I don't know why but I need something to tinker with. The relationship with the Merc is a bit boring**, it always starts first time, always churns out enough power and generally doesn't set a foot wrong lol. I miss the rado's quirks. ** except for when you're on the motorway foot down or with the ESP turned off lol EDIT: just noticed my mpg post above, it now averages 20mpg due to my right foot settling down a bit. I personally think that's awesome for a heavy v8 with an auto driving around london at peak times!

Looks awesome dude, I'm glad it all worked out for you in the end! You done anything with the brakes?
-
Nice mk2 mate, all ties in very well!
-
1M will handle better, definately looks better, will have a better driving position, will feel more special, is rarer and doesn't look like a squashed frickin a4 avant. Can you tell I really dislike a3 sportbacks? lol. 1M ADL, one of my cars to own in the next 2-3 years If all goes well (and the prices don't go up due to limited numbers produced)...
-
Sounds like a perfect shell for an engine conversion if there's no rot. Shame I don't have the spare cash atm... :(
-
Honestly, if you really need more power at least keep 6 cylinders, 4mo lump or r32 if possible is what i'd do. 1.8T's are quick but somehow sh*t too lol. They provide good bang for the buck but that's it. Suit Mk3's/Mk4's etc (ie soul less cars)

Any more updates Jake?
-
Looking good Kev, some serious skill you have there! Now please clean the bay before you put it all in lol.

Renshaw project (probably going to sell / swap)
Abdul replied to 24V Renshaw's topic in Members Gallery
Nice buy, have the chains etc been done? Interesting to hear a 200k VR is running so well! -
They should be the same indeed, you may want to check if the spring rates differ between models as the VR is a bit heavier up front. I've never run eibach's on a corrado btw but have done on several other cars along with H&Rs a couple times, I think the ride on the H&R's is horrid baring in mind the drop you get. Obviously it depends on what your used to and how low you want the car. I'd consider FK's too actually as they're pretty much as soft as you'll get imo.
-
See I wouldn't go near the weitec's unless you care more about handling then ride comfort, I had em on my valver and tbh it was the best handling car I've ever owned but it was a bit crashy when running low where as the Konigsports were nice and comfortable even with the splitter licking the floor! As for corrosion, coat em in copper grease and you'll be fine, just clean em every so often!
-
If you want coilovers with good ride comfort i'd go for fk konigsports mate. KW's and Weitec's give better handling but are stiffer imo.
-
I wouldn't go with H&R's if you want ride comfort, they're not bad by any means but they're more biased towards handling then ride. I'd go with Eibach's. I'm not sure if they're available just as seperate springs but the most comfortable set up i've experienced in a corrado was in my old vr which had fk konigsport coilovers wound down a fair bit. They had koni shocks like yours but fk springs. Your tyres are nice and chunky btw so shouldn't be a problem there.
-
Hey Nick, I love it tbh, nice and relaxed and no more left leg ache after a couple hours sat in traffic. It's a bit sloppy off the line but it's not really a traffic light racer is it lol. My average mpg is currently 14mpg. It hurts.
-
What Coullstar said really but skinny tyres will make your ride crashy and some brands are worse then others...
-
Gorgeous car mate, not sure if you remember me, bumped into you at torque exhaust about a year ago in a DBP corrado (now Swompy's).... Looks awesome fella!
-
Finally got the decat done last week, secondary cats are now gone! Sounds like a muted version of the C63 amg now! I can't wait to get the quad exhaust built up now! The car does seem to pull more freely, others who have dyno'd there's after the decat have reported 10hp gains and similar gains in torque. Im on the hunt for an AMG airbox now which combined with BMC/K&N pannels unlocks another 15-20 bhp and similar torque (dyno proven)... Thanks for looking!
