Awesome cars those, only been out in a regular 3.0 but even with 'only' 260 brake it was a hoot! Quick question if you don't mind, how much higher did the mk3 recaro's sit then stock rado seats? I was under the assumption that the height of the mk3 seats could be adjusted or am i waffling now? Cheers mate

Holy sheet that is cool! Shame they didn't take it for a proper spin! What's happening with your VR fella, haven't seen any updates in a while!
-
Woah fella your VR is drinking far too much, even with lots of stop start driving (london style) it shouldn't be that bad. My CLK which weighs alot more then a rado, has an auto box and a 4.3 v8 and that does 17-18 around town and i don't tend to hang about... My VR would happily do 23-25 mpg around town with mixed right foot action. Agree with you on 1.8T's; they sound crap, don't even make a nice dumping sound which is part of the fun with a turbo imo lol.
-
I don't agree with Emu at all there. My first valver used to average 30mpg as did my vr (on a run the vr was better then he valver) and my most recent valver was actually worse then the vr; couldn't average more then 25mpg and technically it had the most looked after engine of the three. It's all a bit hit and miss really. Either way good luck finding the right car!

Hello and welcome mate! I'd say go for a vr6 if your budget allows as fuel costs are the same and maintenance costs are only slightly higher. At the same time I'd also say buy whatever is best in your budget... If you want to spend 1500 buy a good valver IMO, 2.5k+ get a vr...
-
Damn fella you are definately lucky. Good thing you got out before the 6 series hit, those things are tanks! I remember my mates sister was in a 206 when a 7 series hit her side on... Result: 7 series needs new rubstrip and a bit of filler (new bumper at a push) and the bonnet had popped open, Peugeot near side quarter disappeared, drivers door mangled to hell and roof had to be cut for her to get out! Either way take it as a sign and get yourself in a corrado! :)

Shame it's so far and green! It's a bargain though I must say... This car also caught my attention but I personally think its a bit too expensive... http://pistonheads.com/sales/3565493.htm

Those are some serious brakes mate lol. Thanks for the reply the other day, no probs!

Do the Bbs steering wheels actually feel nice though? They look great but also look like they have a thin grip. I personally love the feel of the standard leather wheel but wish it were a tiny bit smaller (20-30mm) and looked a bit better! The grip is great though IMO.

40k for 3 (future) classics over 15 years is great IMO. My dad bought a BMW 7 series for 35k and sold it for 10k 3/4 years later. I keep telling him to buy a corrado lol!
-
Too many nice rados getting sold and too many dreamers calling about the merc lol. Anyone up for a px or a straight sale even. I'll sell at a favourable price to anyone off of here. Trying to shift big engined cars after Xmas is a no no it would seem lol.

Nice rado mate, very cool first car too.
-
Great work fella! You're mad doing it outside in this weather. Sorry to hear about the MK1.
-
Looks awesome fella, I totalled up the bits I want from spoonfed for when I get another rado and it comes to something like $1300 lol. How much are customs charges these days?
-
Lovely rado, I tried talking my friend into buying it but it wasn't the right colour for him apparently lol. Amazing example imo, everything's spot on, hope you enjoy it mate!

Ok here goes. IMO ALL corrado's look ridiculous with standard ride height let alone with bigger and wider aftermarket wheels. On stock wheels however they do look good with a very subtle drop (springs and shocks will do). To run 16" borbets/brocks you'll most likely end up with a 7.5" wide front wheel with an et of 25 and a 9" wide rear wheel with an et of 15 if you go staggered. It's going to look horrendous unless you lower the car significantly (I'm talking more then just lowering springs; you'll need coilovers) and then you'll need to roll the rear arches. IMO if you're going to go for 9" wide wheels have em all round and roll the front arches too, looks better imo but each to their own. Either way, here's your checklist. 1) Choose wheel size; 16x7.5 all round with an et of 20-25 will be fine on most suspension set ups even if you lower the car alot. 9" wide with et15 means poke which means stretch tyres and arch rolling. 2) Buy Borbet A's because Brock B2's are ugly (i personally bought Brock B1's). Choose tyres carefully. They'll make all the difference. 3) Buy coilovers so you can set the height as you please. 4) Roll arches if you want your car to sit well without chewing tyres, beware paint may crack. 5) Sit back and enjoy the girth. If paint cracks then add painting the arches as another step. Mine were 9" wide all round with et15 and 215/35 tyres, I was a plum at the time and didn't roll the arches. The arches then proceeded to eat the tyres. Hope that helps mate. Good luck! EDIT: Just realised your car is a VR, go for staggered, I've not seen a single VR with 9's up front look good. They poke far too much due to the widetrack. Also if you have a 288mm brake set up I think you'll need to shave the face of the caliper a little to get Borbet A's on or run a small spacer.

Ok so easiest option would be a 'man in the shed head' using your current kr cams and 'hotgolf' flywheel, both members can be found on clubgti. Also get hold of a 4 branch mani and get the car mapped to suit. Better option would be to do the above to an Abf which is supposed to be a relatively easy swap. One problem you may find though is that the fuelling on the 9a's is a bitch. Ke motronic I think it is, the only person that I've seen to have good results with this is corradophil on here but he's put in a lot of effort to get it to where it is. Another option is to run the car on megasquirt. I'm not sure of any pro companies who can map ms but I know toyotec (on clubgti) has had good results with ms and the above work. 170-180 brake iirc. Also look at samthegram's build thread. His engine is fully rebuilt though with a slightly higher CR. Pics of the rado Rory? I see you've changed the rims!
-
Nah lots of dreamers etc but that's about it. Serves me right for trying to sell a v8 after Xmas lol. Literally pull the stereo out and swap the red and yellow over on the stereo loom. Piece of **** really.
-
Swap over the red and yellow wires.
-
That looks proper tidy mate congrats! Any pics on speedlines? Cars like this with a subtle drop on a set of mint speedies always look awesome!! Need red rears and dewiper though IMO.
-
Rory why not get a bit of work done to the head and get hold of a 4 branch etc and see what you can do with the valver? 170-180 brake should be doable but it'll never be as smooth or relaxing to drive as a vr... Alternatively stick an Abf in with a p&p head. One more thing, change the coilys to something more forgiving, the ones on your valver are too unforgiving and I often found my wheels skipping off the road on harsh surfaces lol. Any shots of the valver as it stands? Get a thread up man!

Opinions of e36 m3 and would you have one instead of a Corrado
Abdul replied to Portent's topic in General Car Chat
I drove a 98 I think it was and the steering felt spot on. In fact everything did, the pull at high revs was unbelievable. Amazing car but I'd still have a 24v rado like yours Kev! Edit: a quick note, those Vadar seats are amazing IMO. -
Retrim sounds good, what colour you going for? MK1 looks ace, can't believe the difference!
-
Welcome to the forum mate! Get some pics up!
