Sold!!! It's exactly what i was looking for. Prior to my mate saying they actually looked alright, i was dead set decided i was going to change them at some point.
-
It does rather!! Now, do i buy wheels before a cd player? the only consolation there is that i can play my old skool death metal cassettes!!! lol
-
Cheers Leonard, glad you said that, as i've been bidding on several sets on ebay. I was also, rather randomly, given 5 brand new centre caps by a friend of a friend, lol.

Hmmmm, i think i'd best start saving!!! lmao. Part of my thinking is partly down to keeping costs down. Not had this one long so giving a short period in case anything more important need doing. Plus, i kinda want to put some slightly bigger rims on. These are 15" and i want to go up to 16".

Right, i have a little dilema and ould like your thoughts. My C at the moment has 3-spoke alloys. A number of my mates (non dub nuts) say they don't suit the car as they're 'too 90's' and that i should change them. My arguement is that it's an early 90#'s car, so in theory they're in keeping with the decade it was registered. I would like to maybe go for a nice set of BBS or a nice set of 5 spoke or something like the alloys on my last C, although it's not high on my list of priorities of things to do. Then of course, my best mate reckons they actually look alright.

Jeez, how bad is that!!!!! Ok, for a show car fair enough, but it REALLY is STUPID to run tyres like this on the road!!!! As for the people that do it, muppetts!!!!!

Cool, i'll have a look, cheers.

I could give you lots of peev's when it comes to peoples views on tyres. I know it's a bit geeky, but it's my job. Certainly, i'm only too pleased if i can help advise people with tyre choices. But i just can't believe how much some people are prepared to stretch their tyres. The silly thing is, people can try to give professional advice, yet people still choose to do these things, yet moan when the tyres fail. I also noticed something else quite scary, someone was actually on about stretching tyre with a width of 155mm onto a 7x15" rim. Not only the safety issue in the stretch itself, but also, the load index would be a lot lower than should be fitted to the car. This WILL invalidate your insurance should anything 'tyre' related cause the car to have an accident. But if you think a tyre thread will help, i'll gladly set on up?

Oh dear...........!!!!!

I'll have a look, should be entertaining by the sound of it!!!

Ah, didn't know about the 'Scene'. I'll have to have a little look at it properly later.

Fact is, tread being wider than your wheel arch is illegal, and the tyres aren't suitable for the rims, and are potentially unsafe. I have just discussed this with one of our engineer's, who also agrees that it is potentially unsafe. I'd put money on it, if you checked in the ETRTO Manual (European Tyre & Rim Technical Organisation), you would see that the tyre is too narrow for the rim. So essentially, it's all down to whether you want to look cool, or whether you want to be safe.

Had to laugh at this thread, sorry. Firstly, (and sorry if i'm about to offend) but the green VR6......looks a bit silly. Second, the tyres are probably not suited to the rims. If anyone can tell me the tyre size and also rim size, i'll confirm it for you. It's hardly the safest rim/tyre choice. Third, unless the law has changed and i've not been made aware, it is illegal for the tread on your tyres to stick out further than the wheel arch. Moan over. Again, apologies for that

Glad your misses made it out with only minor injuries. Could have been far worse. The mazda 6 is a great car, but one of my collegues said the same about his Mazda 3 company car......and he went for the sportier option. He changed as soon as he could, and is now in a Skoda Octavia estate. He says it's got more guts, room (obviously), comfort, and the build quailty is far superior. For me, German all the way. My last car, a Pug 306, was written off by some muppet in a hire car. My insurance company sorted me with a Passatt Estate 2.0 TDi (auto). Brilliant car, especially for an estate, and quick. If you want a family car, one word.....Passatt!!! Eventually i had to take a car from the lease company involved, and i got (for my sins) a Vectra 1.9 CDTi. It's utter wank!!!! The Passatt beat it in every dept. Performance, comfort, economy!!! I'm now happy again, in the seat of a Scirocco GTII!!

These things are mental. My mates dad had one, and it flew. My mate used to take it out for a spin sometimes, and you'd be suprised at how many chavy boy racers in their modded fiesta's would still thinking it was a ruded up metro. Did they not take a good enough look? The exhaust and the engine in the back should have given it away. They'd sit there at the lights reving the nuts off their sheds, the 6R4 gurgling away. As soon as you got the revs up, the look of shock an embarrassment was classic!!! One thing though, the clutch was either engaged or not engaged, so driving around on anything other than open roads was a complete bitch. Sadly though, i never got the chance to drive it :(

I had 17" on my old old Rado. 16" rim with a higher profile will give you more comfort. I had 7.5J x17, and fitted 205/40 R17 rubber. Considering my Rado had been lowered (as much as possible on the front), and i never had any problems with the tyres rubbing the arches, handling was awesome. But if you like, let me know the rim measurements of any rims you go for, and i'll check what the best tyre size would be for you.

Cheers James. I'll check the fuel filter, if it's not that, then if it's not that, i'll check the black cannister.

Thanks David, thats brilliant. Apart from being such a fantastic car, the community/this forum made owning a C more pleasurable. The Pug 306 forums were bad, nobody was as helpful, and certainly not this quickly. Light permitting, i'll have my Scirocco back on the road ready for tomorrow. Incidentally, are there many Scirocco owners on the Corrado Forum?

Hi everyone, After a lengthy spell off the forum due to my C being writen off (tragic day!!!), I've now just bought a '91 Scirocco GTII (with carbs) and i'm having a problem. And knowing how good you all were when I had my C, i thought i'd see if any of you could help. It flies, and i'm loving it. The problem being, after about 10 miles, it feels/sounds as though not enough fuel is getting through. I think it could be the fuel filter in need of replacing, or maybe even the fuel pump. I popped in to my local GFS store and was sold a new filter. However, i can't seem to find anything in the engine bay resembling the new filtter ( it's basically a plastic chamber with a pipe at either end, and sponge filter inside the main chamber. Does anyone know where i should be looking? I'm either losing my mind, or my sight!!!! or maybe both? lol. any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Grim
