got the picture off the canadian corrado site! ;) I'll drop them an email for photos, sounds like a bargain!
-
you mean this.....? I think you might be right mate! I wouldnt mind keeping the original style grille (maybe a debadged one though) and just adding the eyebrow.
-
well it had its 80k service not so long ago, but they obviously didnt pick up on the problem as the car would have been warm when they started it! doh! I might take it back to the garage armed with the info you've just given me and ask them to have a look for me. Ta Jet.
-
i actually said exactly the same thing a few days ago  thats how i know! me - 'WOW CHECK OUT THIS BUMPER!!!' everyone else - 'erm, standard US spec mate' me - ' ' now what about this eyebrow thing then? eh? anyone??
-
apparently thats standard US spec, although that one's had them swapped for clear/white versions. does look nice.
-
yeah, lovely! maybe canadian laws are different and they're happy for you to blind other drivers! :D

hi, welcome to the forum :) I've got a 1990 1.8 16v. Thanks for the info, need a bit more from you though, where is the unit, what does it look like and how does it unclip? (told you i'm not mechanically skilled! :?)
-
right, after reading a whole load of posts about temperamental revs at idle when the engines cold, and how its more than likely the ISV, which should be cleaned, I've decided that thats probably what mine needs. (revs drop, then rise, then eventually level out after its warmed up a bit) has anyone done a guide to cleaning it? i'm not skilled mechanically but i'd like to learn (without breaking things!) so i need an idiots guide basically! :D

a few questions, firstly is this the mattig one? http://www.hostdub.com/albums/Shinnyg60/100_0056.jpg secondly, where can i buy one in the UK, and roughly how much are they? finally, does anyone have a pic of the one that volksbits sell as the image is missing from their site! :?
-
i like the look of them with the lights left in, v nice! Reg plate on the black one looks a bit too small to be legal? is that something you're planning to do 8vg60?
-
has anyone moved the reg plate and smoothed over the gap? any pictures?

The shop ('Revolution' in newcastle/gateshead for those that know it) have said that scorpian want the box back, and that they think theres a 'design fault' with them. I asked for alternatives and all the guy could find was a Peco twin-square pipe, which is nothing like the one i wanted! Fair enough the early 1.8's have no cat so theres less available for them, but there must be something else 'off the shelf' out there? i cant really afford the extra £150ish for a full custom system :(
-
well all i can say to that is 'bugger' :(
-
just been to get a scorpian oval style backbox fitted, but the garage had problems in that it made contact with the boot floor, so they said it'd probably knock and bang a fair bit, they're calling scorpian tomorrow to find out whats going on, but i wondered if anyone else with the same backbox had had a simular experiance? its deffinatly the right box for the car... 1.8 16v. bit narked at the moment as i've waited over a month for it to turrn up! :x
-
sorry, its a 1.8 16v. Dissconnecting the 5th injector sounds complex?
-
on seemingly random occasions i have to try to start the car 2 or 3 times before it actually fires, then theres quite a nasty petrol smell. its not just from cold either....any ideas?
-
is there much to gain from changing the carb on a 1.8 16v? is it an easy DIY job for someone like me whos not really messed about with engines beyond changing the air filter? :?
-
see! i said i'm no expert!
-
interesting bumper with the indicators built into it....not seen that before! but then i'm no expert. Nice looking car! looks alot like mine except yours isnt as pink :(
-
my (gear) knob just twisted off, dead easy. The gator is attached to the plastic surround around the gearstick (the bit with karrman on it) which should lift up and out, with the knob off you should be able to slide the whole thing out, then replace the gator.
-
yep, i've got ICE (in car exercise) windows!
-
another one for the 'whats this and whys it leeking?' collection! Serviced a week ago, i asked them to look, which they did and after cleaning the engine off a bit said they thought it was 'old oil' well if it is theres quite a lot of it cos it still bloody dripping!!!
-
seem to be, its costing me about 40quid to fill it up when the guage is showing empty, which sounds about right...as for the speedo, doing 126 in a traffic jam is about normal isnt it? nah, as far as i can tell it showing the right figures too. Good tip, i'll have a look at that...how can i tell if its leeking then? (mechanical newbie!)
-
hehe, i wish! yeah i'm getting about that...you're right it doesnt tally up! I've also had it go mad and say 99.9mpg, which was quite a suprise! Dont think the MFA has been messed with (checked when i bought it) because its got a full VAG service history which confirms the milage.

I've had my C for about 3 weeks now, and i'm starting to get a bit worried about the fuel i'm using! The trip computer is working it out at about 10mpg and often lower! I'm not thrashing it about so i dont understand why its so low. Anyone got any ideas? Its just been serviced and they didnt spot anything...
