i did mine the other day, first time i'd put an amp in and it was dead easy, just take your time. Hardest part i found was getting the remote power and rca cables from the back of the headunit down to the footwells either side to run them along the underside of the door trims. Plenty of fiddling and skinned knuckles!! couldnt get the glovebox out for some reason! i used the grommet in the passenger footwell too, make sure you seal it up afterwards to prevent leaks....

same here, i thought the previous owner must've taken them out but there are no wires and no obvious fixing points. Not too sure how i can sort it out considering i've just replaced my dash speakers and i'm already using the one RCA output my headunit has!

coming out of a multi-story this afternoon and a scraped it a bit...thought- i better slow down to a crawl and take it easy on the next ramp, only to scrape it even more! I think i'll be getting a 50mm one. Should be the same fitment right?
-
it is! i'll have to get a few stone chips and spots of rust sorted out too, but if machine polishing is the £150 i've been told it is, I'll save myself a fortune over a total respray...which means i'll have money for wheels!!! :D
-
so does it get rid of the pink faded look then? also my doors have faded in a different way to the rest of the car, so they dont match up. Would machine polishing sort that out?
-
how does the standard system work then? do the wires split off somewhere else to power the dash speakers?or should there be 5 wires? (doors left/right, back left/right then the 3 dash ones)
-
i thought about doing that craig, only problem is at some point the door speakers have been removed, and when i was sorting out the headunit wires there were 2 spare (not connected on the old bodged wiring either) so i'm not sure if they're for the door speakers or what. I've a feeling the cars had some decent ICE in before which has been either stolen, or just taken out when it was sold.

I was speaking to a bloke at a VW garage about getting my car resprayed, and he said that he didnt think it needed spraying, just machine polishing. Has anyone had this done with good results?

After fitting my rear speakers, which are bloody loud, I'm noticed the rather poor power handling abilities and sound quality of the dash speakers.....so i want o change em' ! What are my options? they're 3" right? I had a look around and the smallest i've found is 4", is that going to be easy to fit? Any recomendations on what speakers to get? i'm just after something with good highs, as the bass from the 6x9's (yeah, i know, but you have to hear them!) is bloody good.

:D i'm not a big girly wimp! the PAS belt needed changing and now its sweet as a sugery nut! fixed for only £27! bargin.

I'll post some pics of the engine as soon as it comes back from its service, so with a bit of luck it'll be sparkly! dont have a gauge cluster though!! :S

I've got a crack in the front spoiler, and so I want to replace it. I've found that http://www.gpcvwaudi.com/ sell them fairly cheaply, but I've got a choice apparently! 50mm or 90mm! just wondering which people think looks better? I'm guessing mines a 90mm at the moment, as its fairly huge! They also have vr6 front spoilers for £30 'a pair' whats the difference with those?

Ta for the pics dubster, looks like it fits exactly how i hoped it would, snug into the cutout in the bumper.... :D

Thanks for the offer macca, not saying your mates not good, but I'd rather use a bodyshop.....just paranoid! J&B sounds worth a try if you're getting yours done there it must have been a decent quote. I'll pay them a visit, cheers ice white socks

thanks for all the tips! did it yesterday and it worked a treat! I ran the wires through the back of the dash then down into the plastic door-sil trim things, along to the back seats then into the boot. Theres about 6" of wire showing where they go between the sils and the bottom of the back seats, but i'm happy enough with that. The RCA's were a bugger though, couldnt someone have come up with a smaller connectors for then ends??

thanks Henny ( )
-
Sounds like the same backbox i'm getting put on this coming friday, you got any pictures of it on the car dubster?
-
ok, you cant see this too clearly on the photo, but the red and the yellow wires from the headunit that handle the power are wired to the same place, meaning my headunit is always on (unless i take the face off) from what Henry said i think the red wire (ignition power) is connected to the wrong place...any clues as to where it should be? as i cant see any loose/spare wires! Not too much of a problem, except i'm putting an amp in, so I dont want that to be perminantly on too. Can i just fit a switch to the blue accessory wire if i cant sort the headunit ones out?

My car is in desperate need of a respray, can anyone recommend a good bodyshop/sprayer in the north east please?
-
*gulp* dare i ask...expensive?
-
No noise from the pump what so ever! hehe, you might be right there!!
-
its due for a service so i'll ask them to have a look, i just didnt want to go in and have them laugh at me for being a big girly wimp

my last car was a new shape astra, and the steering was really light in that, other than that i've driven quite a few cars, but only one without power steering, which was an old Jetta. To be honist the corrados steering feels as heavy as the jettas! I'll rephrase...hard to turn when moving at 'parking speed' :D
-
Having never driven a corrado before the one i have now i'm not sure how the steering 'should' feel, but to me it doesnt feel like the power steering is working right. The wheel is almost impossible to turn when stationary so parking is a bit of a pain! is that just because the PAS is a fairly early and basic system?

I went for a scorpion boxer style one in the end, looked at what was available at my local mod-shop and they seemed the best quality. The guy said he had one on his golf and it 'wasnt too loud' after i said i didnt want anything boy-racery.
