  1. black centers yes...sunstrip no... I've got 205/40's on my 8" wide 17's and they do sometimes catch with a 60mm drop, although not much. what offset are the borbets? - edit - whats the little badge above your indicator? is that a german flag?
  2. owned the valver for about 18 months and i've had the vr6 for roughly 3, part of the reason I changed cars was because I wanted a car I could keep for a while and be happy with, breaking the 'car a year' habbit I'd been persuing previously. I loved my 16v, but the vr6 is something even more special and I'm resonably prepared to spend cash on it to keep it going (not that I'll be happy about it!). I've never driven anything else quite like a corrado, so confidence inspiring yet easy to drive and comfortable, mix that with a hefty wedge of power and good looks and I cant think of anything else I'd rather own (within reason).
  3. phatvr6 was talking about supercharging his r32 when we went down to see him... combine that with the NOS kit hes got and hes going to have one rapid car on his hands. oi!! I paid for that! :D
  4. did you see how close he gets to that guy at the side of the road in his first run? thats more than lucky!
  5. AMD chip? :D class! theres a nice suprise! i wonder if i take it out and give them the serial number, if they have a dyno plot on record? or at least some figures? matt, did you press the reset button a few times? from what i could work out the number on the trip computer is the mode you're in.
  6. if you've got a digital odometer, with the ignition off press and hold its reset button in, turn on the ignition, then turn off, then on again and release the odometers reset button to get the extra features. not sure what they all do but No.7 is the tacho.
  7. Isnt guy heartly's pushing about 300bhp now? S/C VR's are indeed a riot, the howl of the VR6 engine backed up by the whistling supercharger sounds like nothing else I've heard and they go like the clappers! Never heard of a factory produced one though...
  8. hmm might have to have a gander at the ECU then, would it be easy to tell if its been fiddled with or if its been chipped? where is it and how do I get at it? I've got very little history on the engine itself in terms of modifications, but like i said before both h8rra and chris vr6nos suspect its had something done to it, cams being their first guess, as its a little too sprightly for a standard VR (in their opinions).
  9. well as i said, the first time was unintentional but got me thinking, i thought it'd be a safer option doing it parked up, both from a road safety point of view (watching the revs under hard acceleration probably isnt as good a plan as watching the road) and from an engine damage standpoint, but i stand corrected. there was deffinalty no 'wha wha wha', i backed off before the limiter cut in... both h8rra and chris vr6nos suspect the engine may have been cam'd but the heads not been off to check yet, would a cam'd engine give these sorts of effects? oh and kev, i quite agree, no white dials here, just blue illumination and red mfa.
  10. I was parked up when I took it all the way off the clock, i'm not daft enough to cain it down a road that fast!

    Rev limiter

Bit of an odd one this, recently swapped my dials over and stupidly pulled the needles off without checking their positions...doh! anyway with a little help they're now roughly right, speeds just about as close as I can get it (+/- a few mph) and the rev counter is reading under by about 200rpm according to that nifty hidden digital tacho on the odometer. Anyway, on to the question... Should I really be able to rev the engine past the redline so that the needle is pointing almost vertically down before the rev limiter kicks in?? I noticed the other day while driving in a bit of a spirited way that it went past the red (hand slipped off the gearstick ) so with the engine warm i tested it last night to see how far it went before the limiter cut in and it got vertical! at that point I stopped thinking I'd probably do some damage if i carried on...the limited never actually cut in.
  12. if you have a look in gordys other thread theres a pic of his golf on design 90's, looks pretty f'ing low on that, i reckon thats sump clearence with coilies set to 'show' height.
  13. £100 works out at a couple of hours labour which is probably about right for a garage. Dont think the fixings are 'that' complex, from what I remember you undo the undo two bolts at the bottom, one at the top and the strut drops out! you'll probably need spring compressors too unless the new struts are aready assembled? I'll not even try and give you a 'how to' on doing it since I'm probably not the best qualified to do so, but i'm sure someone will!
  14. dont forget to renew your top mounts and bumps stops! as for doing it yourself, depends on your mechanical skill, i was doubtful i could do it but after seeing it done and assisting to a certain extent i'd be reasonably confident to do it now, I'd class myself as having a fairly low mechanical skill level.
  15. take the centre cover off the steering wheel and you'll see a large nut in the middle, undo that and the wheel comes free, easy really! the nuts a big un though. as for the contact, you could bodge a fix with any old bit of metal to make contact i expect, a paperclip or something...as a temporary measure obviously edit - :( beat me to it tom!
  16. gold centers on a silver car, brave choice but i think it might pay off! that interior shot blew me away, utterly immaculate!
  17. worse thing I've seen on a roundabout was in newcastle, in gridlocked traffic. roundabout is 2 lanes wide, big articulated truck on the inside and a lass in a corsa on the outside, both pretty much stationary. Mr truck driver decideds he doesnt want to wait anymore and starts to edge forwards and to the right, as he does so the trailer starts to creep left (if you can imagine, with those funny trailer physics) anyway the upshot is that his rear wheels make contact with the corsa and as hes in a big old truck with his mirrors blocked by the front end of the trailer he doesnt notice...corsa ends up at 45 degrees to the road with this poor lass franticly beeping her horn and waving her arms about until some passer by gets the drivers attention and stops him rolling the car right over. scary stuff!! oh i also saw a old mini clip the edge of a roundabout and do a quite acrobatic flip in icey conditions when i was waiting for the school bus years ago...
  18. looking forward to seeing the finished result ben, hard to imagine what its going to look like, half of me thinks the TVR dash is a bit too wild, but the other half of me tells the first half to f**k off and get a grip, its going to be special!
  19. I had fk red/smoked on my valver, unless they changed the design the pastic surround is actually chrome rather than black as it appears in that photo, although I guess it could be painted to remove some of the 'bling'. FK's are also E marked, so road legal, if you're worried about that sort of thing!

    8x17 ET Question

no, sorry should have said that! I just spaced the fronts to clear the caliper carriers, the rears have always been on et32.

    8x17 ET Question

mine are 8x17 et32, and up until the weekend i was using 3mm spacers - so et29. the cars dropped 60mm and the wheels did catch on the arch liners over bumps, mostly at the front, and were only a few mm off the metalwork. With the spacers off its much much better although the front drivers side has caught a couple of times over big bumps. I'm running 205's.
  22. erm... not something i'll be doing, sorry andy! would have thought the police would pull you pretty quickly for them too?
  23. I bought the whole clock set off gradeAfailure, but I'm pretty sure hes doing DIY kits, best off PMing him really! I think the illumination bulbs could do with being a little stronger as the photos are pretty much how bright I'd like them, but in reality they're not as bright as that. oh and chris, I dropped the screws a fair few times too until i found my magnetic screwdriver!
  24. Arrived in the post this morning, thanks to gradeAfailure, and since I had a day off work recovering from last nights excessive intake of alcohol based refreshments, i decided to fit them. Took me about twice as long as it should have due to wobbly hands and a wooly head, and then I had to take them apart again as i fiddled with the needles and messed up their positions (once again thanks to gradeA for telling my how to undo my mistake). Pretty unimpressive after the install....but then it was bright sunlight so the illumination wasnt visible! had to wait until now to take some snaps and its STILL not properly dark outside. The photos show them a little brighter than they actually are, and the MFA screens are red not orange which means the whole thing matches my headunit illumination quite nicely. I also re-routed the wire/LED for my alarm into the clock unit so its positioned in the lower right blank space along with all the other warning LED's. If i was doing it again I'd put it on the left as its not very visible to potential theves, but it does look pretty neat and saves distroying a switch blank which I recently found out have been discontinued by VAG. next job is swapping all the other LED's to blue! - note to self dont do it with a hangover
