  1. Bad experiances in the past with various french cars are the reason for my 'snobbery', I also dont think too much of ford after an ex's ka fell to bits within 6 months (new gearbox, suspension, clutch, exhaust). If a preferance for quality is considered snobbery then so be it. Jim - a VTR keeping up with a 172? surely its got a good 40bhp handicap? although I suppose on twisties thats possible... - edit - I can testify, theres very little in it between a VTS and a properly running 16v as I had a few, and was done by a few, while I owned my valver. I certainly wouldnt say I killed any of them though! it was more 'by a nose' if anything.
  2. re-read the post and dropped the motor out, i see what you meant now! duh!! i've got it reset so that the interior panel is tight and wont let water in, but the roof panel still isnt sitting flush... is that the mechanical misalignment you mentioned kev?
  3. ok i might just be being a tard here but i cant get it right... I can adjust the sunroof so that the headlined panel inside sits nice and tight, but the outer steel panel is tilting down towards the back as if its about to slide back, and when I arm the alarm again it just moves forward so the steel panel is flush, but the headlined panel is loose again and the gap returns! do I actually have to drop the motor itself out, or just the controls?
  4. I'm all for stealth, just personally i would have picked a different base. to be fair to the clio they're not really bad at all - for a french car ;)
  5. that kind of damage to a C would have it written off these days! I'm not sure if you were lucky or unlucky really, bit of both I suppose, hope the kid doesnt try and kick up too much of a stink.
  6. only problem is he cant go above 30mph otherwise the body panels start to fall off. Cant see the point really, its not like the clio is exceptionally light (or anything else exceptional for that matter) to make it a worthwhile conversion, I cant see what the advantage of using it as a base would be really.
  7. cool that makes sense, wheres the sunroof motor hiding then? under the switch?
  8. ok before this gets locked up, i've done a search and can't find any info on this particular sunroof problem as its not the usual 'wont close' issue. I've noticed when holding the switch forward so the sunroof slides closed, it seems to go a little too far and i can push the pannel up on the inside for a good few mm (which resulted in damp headliner). it looks as if its about to tilt up, but then stops. To get it to close properly and get the panel to fit tight i have to pull the switch back for a second. The major problem is, my alarms got total closure of windows and sunroof, so while I can get the panel nice and snug while in the car, once I lock it the alarm 'closes' the sunroof and the gap reappears! any ideas?
  9. thats very very worrying, £10 for a universal kit?? time to invest in a second set of locking nuts I think, are mcgard still considered the best?
  10. UPS corrado syndrome possibly? theres a definate theme with the front ends too, but who cares when the look works so well?
  11. top pic in this thread! http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?p=258220&sid=da6648ccde4b8ea0529599cc9a0ccc9e#258220
  12. i'm not sure if theres a tool, just some pliers with a longer nose that the ones i've got might do the trick! they were 2nd hand but look unused, not seen any others on for that price since...one off bargain! :D
  13. leads can make a HUGE difference mate, i picked up a set of ebay for £15 and it cured my previously pretty nasty misfiring lumpy engine like a charm. Still got the two leads that go through the front of the manifold to swap but i cant get in to them to change them
  14. and i wondered why it wasn't turning over very quickly...
  15. theres a *ahem* nipple under the front of each strip, roughly 1" from the front edge, pull the strip forwards slightly then up and it should come free, then carefully pull the strip up and out working along its length (dont bend it!!) at the back it just sides forwards out of the plastic bit where the boot hinge is.
  16. I know what you mean rick, i always get a bit bashful when people ask 'is it fast', you know it is, but you dont want to look like a prick, so generally you mutter something like 'yeah, theyre ok'.
  17. didnt someone off the forum buy that? or was that a fastcar staff-car? its been a while since I read either TBH, just remember it had 'special' wheels designed by a reader...
  18. probably running out of petrol in my valver in the small hours on the a1 and having to pay £105 to the recovery guy for about £5 worth of petrol AND it wasnt optimax!
  19. someone just tripped over a paving slab while gawping at my car as I drove down the highstreet....havnt laughed so much in ages!

do you reckon the 'humps' are a trick of the flash casting funny shadows or did some of them come like that?

    Poor MPG

thats about what i used to get on my 16v, but if you work it out by filling the tank to the top, reset mode 2 on the MFA, drive it for a few days, fill to the top again and take note of how much fuel you put in you can work out how much fuel you've used over the miles now showing in mode 2, should give you more accurate results.

does look a bit odd, could it be a stealth shelf? I'm sure you could get a blind from halfarts or somewhere like that and screw it on, which TBH looks like what this guys done! as for it being upsidedown, I think hes actually holding one of the hinge things that clips the shelf into the boot meaning it'd be the right way up! how strange!
  24. you dont see many of them about, although they got pretty good reviews when they came out, smacks of missed opportunity to me. Whos going to be the first to cram a w8 into a corrado then?
