  1. As the late type VR6 grills only have one open vent, has anyone tried cutting out the other two to aid better cooling. Good to get some input before I butcher mine with my Dremel.
  2. Panic over, turned out to be a split hose, not sure which one, find out more tomorrow. Will look to replace all the hoses with one of those Roose kits at some point.
  3. Vince did check all the hoses and said they were OK and that was after going on the rollers, and a road test. Previous owners had already changed the coolant pipe, radiator, main water pump but no indication of the aux water pump being replaced. Also just so I can enjoy the car over the next couple of months without any more major hiccups, what's people thoughts on the Heater Matrix bypass idea. The car is only used in the summer months so don't use the heater, is this also a good precautionary measure. Suppose can also convert back if I was to sell the car.
  4. Cool! Got break down recovery on their way. There has definitely been some "increase in throttle enthusiasm" in the last 48hrs. Either way its going back to Stealth today, now I'm thinking should I also get the auxiliary water pump changed if its still the original, just as a precautionary measure.
  5. Thanks for the tips guys, Gonna leave it for now, will try it in the morning. Time for a stiff drink..
  6. Just checked and there's no mayo on the Filler cap. Can I just fill with regular water to check for leaks? Sure its not a leak as there's no drips at all from below.
  7. Just letting it cool down, its odd how all the coolant has gone without it pouring out anywhere. I've not got any G12 at home to top it up with. Looks like a phone to Stealth in the morning.
  8. Spoke to soon, just took the car out for a quick run and all of sudden got a whole lot of steam coming out from the front, got it home and all the coolant has disappeared, and there's the sound of crackling from the top of the engine. I can only see a slight oil leak from the bottom no coolant, has the head gasket blown.
  9. Got the Raddo back from Stealth today, finally got round to getting the obligatory chains and tensioner work done, also decided to add the SP 263 cams and a stealth remap to the mix. Can't believe how much more alive and smoother the car feels. I'm not one for chasing numbers, but Vince stated that 215bhp, 204 lbs torque wasn't bad going. I took along a MANN air filter to switch with whatever was already in there, and it turned out to be K&N panel. Should I keep the MANN or revert back to the K&N? PS: There was nice silver Vr6 parked outside, smoothed bumpers, anyone on here.
  10. Nice! Did you also get the bodyshop to red tint the tail lights.
  11. Do you get any sump clearance issues at that height, looks lower than the usual 2 finger gap drop.

  17. Could be interested in these, what bulbs are required for reverse and indicator signals? Where are you located?
  18. Solution Finish seems to be long lasting. http://www.frost.co.uk/solution-finish-black-trim-restorer-plastics-vinyl.html
  19. I think the PD 15O Golfs come fitted with 288mm
  20. Hi Peeps! Would appreciate a quick answer on this, need to get my Montreal 2 alloys refurbished due to bad air leak, so need to temporarily fit Speedlines on the MK4 Golf, its a GT TDI PD150. My question is will the Speedlines fit the MK4 Golf brake setup. Gus.
  21. Hi Roger, Have also sent you PM, would be interested in a Silver one please. Gus.
  22. Oh and I was referring to how AP compared to KW V1 and ST X not the FK, I know the FK are complete ****e.
  23. I did look into those softer KW springs. The fronts are 60Nm and rears are 40Nm. Compared to standard 70/50Nm. But from what KW HQ advised me you cant get them fitted with the softer springs from factory, would just have to buy them separately. May be some of you kind folk can take me for a drive at one of the next meets, its probably the only way I'll get an idea of what I think is acceptable comfort wise.
