I did see yours but couldn't get a decent shot without loads of people or other cars or flags in the way! Nick
-
If only I had th emoney I could buy it and have Corrado siblings! Cheers, it's all in the practice for the strip shots. I looked back at my shots from spring fest last year and these are way better. I'm also doing a photography City and Guilds course at the moment which is brill although turning me into a photography geek. Nick

I know this is Jord's and this one is mine! nick

I'm not going to be running now anyway as I can't fix my slight missfire, ah well there's always summer fest! Nick

Hi Folks, Got a very slight miss fire on the old girl. Only happens when up in the mid revs and higher and it's a slight cough every now and again not a consistant thing. Changed the cap, leads and arm to no avail. Does anyone know if the coil is the same on these as a 1.8 16v KR (Golf or Rado) as I can get one from a mate but not sure if it'll work. I'm not able to get to GSF or other over the weekend due to being away. Really gutted as I wanted to take it up the strip on sunday but I'm not going to run it up with it's occasional cough. Nick

I had to change the gasket between the oil cooler and the bracket that it screws up onto.

Cool, these are both great benchmarks for me to aim for! It does indeed look like they'll be a few Rados on the go at SPringfest, my mate is also taking his G60 although not sure if he's taking it up the strip. nick

Wow some pretty decent times being posted by you guys. I've only got a drilled airbox and KR cams in my 2.0 valver so not sure what I'll get on the day. My old mini cooper S (proper one not a Bini) ran mid 15's which was fun! Nick

It's all in the ET. As long as they are between ET 40 and ET 35 and not wider than 8" you shouldn't have a problem as long as you fit corrected sized tyres. I'm sure there must be some other threads that explain this better though. Nick

Hi Folks, I'm off to Spring Fest next weekend and I'm planning on running up the strip a few times to see what the old girl can do. I was just wondering what others who had done 1/4 miles had clocked up for comparison. So lets see what you got and what engine/spec your car is, I'll post up mine when I'm back from the pod. Nick

Randomjords G60! Project 'Do Not Bankrupt Myself'

Nice work bud. Black Rado's rule! Nick -
Maybe not yet but it's coming in the future. It's to clamp down on Road tax dodgers. It's in a load of government consultation papers. The reason the MOT went computerised is so they can track engine numbers and the like in the future. Are you an MOT tester yourself? If so does the computer populate the engine number field for you? In the old days of paper based you used to have to write it on the certificate so you would have to check the car to fill this in. nick
-
As the MOT regulations tighten up over the next cuple of years cars with these and many other modifications will be failed and subject to an SVA test to confirm road legality. With HID's it would fail. Luckily these can be swapped out. Other such stuff as engine conversions are going to be clamped down on. ALready ou have to have documentation to prove the origins, size and number of any engine where the displacement or fuel type is different to the original engine. If you don't have the docs the DVLA won't change the engine number or capacity on the V5 and the databse. WHen you then go for an MOT it's flagged up as a number mismatch and hello SVA test. Nick

Don't worry yourself. If it's proven its 100% the other parties fault (which it would seem to be) you are entitled to have your car repaired to pre accident condition regardless of cost. They'll try and fob you off but it is your right to have it fixed. The only time they can refuse is if the car is unrepairable due to extreme damage (I.E it could never be safely repaired). Give em hell, it'll be a struggle but don't let the buggers win! Nick

Rumour has it that future generationso f the BMW M3 are going to moving in the direction of less pots and a big turbo. It's the world we live in now. VW if anything are the first ones out of the blocks making decent performance cars for the masses that will be cheaper to run but no less fun. Massive V engines with supercharges etc will die off in anything smaller than big luxo barges over the next few years. There just isn't the market for them anymore. This is clearly shown by the fact that there are still loads of MKV R32's floating about unregistered and heavily discounted and don't even mention the Passat R36. I'd be surprised if they've sold into double figures of those yet. Nick

Some new pics Nick -
I'd roll in that all day long with a few subtle tweaks. Just goes to show how much a colour makes the car. It looks like a cross between a Rado and the new Bat Mobile, and that's good! nick

Easy peasey and if you're celevr you don't even need to remove the camblet so no problems with Cam timing. Makes a huge difference to the car. I need to get a 50m inlet manifold for mine now and I'm tepted by a DeCat pipe apart from the hassle of changing ti for the MOT. nick

Just wondering if anyone can help sort me out with a little issue with my blower. It was working fine and quitely for months then it stopped working on 1 -3 and made a burning smell. After reading up on it I found the likely culprit was a blown resistor. My soldering not being up to scratch I bought a used motor and board I was told was working, when I fitted it though I got nothing at all. Gutted having spent £25 for the replacement. So I thought I wopuld try swapping the board from the replacement onto my motor. The thought process being that I was confident that my motor was OK, that it was just the board and that the replacement board should be ok but the motor was dead. I swapped the board and now I have speeds 1 and 4 but no 2 or 3. Humm still gutted. I then pulled more of the dash apart and tested the dial connections which all seem to be fine. Gutted and now annoyed. What's up with it? DO faulty boards sometimes work on 1 and 4 or does all this point to something else? nick

You've got to be looking at 170+ with plenty of torque for that spec. I bet with the lightened flywheel it really picks up quick when you come on cam. nick

I read somewhere that you should use graphite powder as lubricant and nothing else as it'll get clogged up. Nick

Mine packed up the day after I bought the car, I was gutted. I sourced a second hand motor and assembly and was so chuffed when it worked again! Nick

My ABS has never worked and I prefer cars without anyway. Nick
